However, if you are trying to use a receiver for a home theater setup, good luck. The HDMI ARC will not work and you will not have any audio output through your receiver. If I hadn’t thrown out the box for this TV then I would return it. I have all in-wall 7.2 theater speakers so a cheap sound bar is out of the question.

My HDMI outputs keep not sensing my cable box or game system when they turn on so it gives me a blank screen.

Picture is okay but sound is terrible

This one picks up only a fair picture although it represented much high pixel resolution it is still the same 1080 as all old TV's and they do not tell you that before hand. The sound is just terrible. In order to hear it normally, you need to put it on the highest setting of 100 and even then it is sometimes not audible. This was a Samsung on sale and I will never make that mistake again. It is easy to see why it was on sale. Stay away from this one.

One possible cause for the low volume is the source. Some sources have their own volume control which might be set too low.
We recommend you try a Sound Test under Support, then Self Diagnosis, then select Start Sound Test. Another way to test the source volume is to test an internal streaming source like Netflix/YouTube to compare.
The RU8 also offers several Sound Modes and advanced settings to meet your personal preferences. You can find instructions for configuring these modes and settings in the e-manual:

Not worth the up charge

Unless you will be directly in front of the screen at all times, I would expect to be disappointed. Screen is quite reflective, making watching tv in a well lit room difficult. The remote is poorly made and feels cheap in the hand, with low quality volume/channel buttons. Good tv in a dark room while you are right in front of it, as long as you use a universal remote.
