Researching this online shows that others have this same issue. Also having streaming issues with Hulu, still trying to figure out if the problem is on their end or if its the TV itself. Picture quality seems decent only after making my own adjustments in the Settings menu. I purchased a Samsung 50" tv 5yrs ago and never had issues like this.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with your RU8000 TV.
Sometimes connected Smart devices send abnormal "power on" signals through the wireless network that triggers the TV to turn itself on.
If you do not want this function, navigate to Settings > General > Network > Expert Settings > Power On with Mobile, and turn the setting off.
As for the issue with streaming Hulu, I have included a troubleshooting guide here:
