Sound Interference

Pros: crisp 4K picture, thin bezel, and looks very nice. Cons: Complicated remote, some dead pixels upon arrival, poor TV software for Netflix, etc. The biggest problem, though, was a static crackling coming through any speaker - including the TV’s built in speakers and a sound bar. I had to troubleshoot with forums around the internet before discovering that 5.1 surround output signal receives interference from something inside the TV. I’ve had to switch all devices and TV sound output to more basic signals, like PCM, in order to avoid the static crackling. Disappointing to say the least. If you aren’t sure how to tackle or change settings, avoid this TV. Also disappointed Samsung let this get through QC.

Buyers beware

I have to turn the volume up all the way and it still does not come close to our previous 6000 series Samsung. We should of looked at reviews were a lot of people are complaining about the sound quality.

Thank you for sharing your experience with low volume on the Samsung AU8000 TV. There are several volume features you can adjust that may help resolve your issue.
1. Auto Volume automatically adjusts the sound to a certain level when changing channels or switching to another external input. Go to Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Auto Volume = On.
2. Adaptive Sound automatically adjusts to a specific volume level while you are watching TV. The TV analyzes your volume usage history by time period to automatically adjust the volume when you use an app or switch to an external input source. Go to Settings> Sound> Sound Mode> Adaptive Sound.
3. Several Sound Modes are likewise available to meet your personal preferences: Home > Settings > Sound > Sound Mode.
Also, some sources have their own volume control, which might be set too low. Please check the volume control of the external device (cable box or satellite box, DVD, Blu-ray, etc.) connected to your TV. Also, check the cable connection between an external device and the TV and then try the cable connection again.

After owning for less than two years, the panel stopped turning on. A portion of it just continues to flash - no standby lights, no display, nothing. Called customer service. After telling me to unplug it, plug it back in and try again (unsuccessful), they asked if I had purchased an extended warranty. Without it, he said it would be cheaper to just buy another TV - but they'd be happy to schedule a technician appointment for a visit fee, diagnostic fee, plus the cost of labor and parts. No thanks Samsung. Low quality product, no customer support. Don't purchase.
