Dealing with the ‘smart’ system is a bit of a struggle. On the positive, the stand is solid, it has plenty of inputs for us, and an optical sound output so it’s really flexible. It’s also really thin, like less than half the thickness of our previous Samsung. I think the brightness issue is from up-converted lower resolution content, as it seems fine with 4k sources. For the size/price, it’s an okay TV. I’d recommend it for what it is: an affordable 4k big screen.

Thank you for your feedback on the CU8000 TV. Please know your opinion is important to us and will be shared with our internal teams.
If you’re uncomfortable with the default brightness settings, you can customize the brightness level between 0 – 50 to your preference. Go to Home > Settings > All Settings> Picture > Expert Settings > Brightness.
You can also try different Picture Modes to see which best fits your needs. Go to Home > Settings > All Settings> Picture > Picture Mode for the below choices:
1) Standard: Default mode suitable for general viewing environments.
2) Natural: Reduces eye strain for a comfortable viewing experience.
3) Movie: Most suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room.
4) Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments.
5) Filmmaker Mode: You can watch the source content (e.g., movie) as it is. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it will automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.

However, after watching Planet of the Apes movie, when sudden motion or action, it’s blurry. Tried to use HDR but same thing. My older that I replaced, Samsung also, seemed to be much better even though it was a 2013 model. Finally, the sound and mout motion is delayed when wired connected to my Samsung surround sound system. Return date expired on April 28th, so nothing I can do.
