    Beautiful television, until it broke

    I purchased this television around 6 weeks ago from Best Buy, along with the protection plan, totaling nearly $2,100. After I set it up a couple weeks ago, I noticed that, while the stand would clip into place, it would not allow for the screws to secure it. Being as large as it was, I had no choice but to put the tv on the stand and ensure it would be in a safe place until I could mount it on the wall. The stand, as well as the entire television, seemed sturdy and very well made regardless of the defect in the screw holes. Ultimately, the stand failed, my television is broken, and the brand new TV I just purchased is not salvageable. The warranty does not cover this specific instance of failure due to the screws not being inserted, and the extra protection plan will not cover repairing a screen. Although the experience I received on the phone was pleasant and everyone tried their best to help, I am sick over this. I feel like I just wasted my money. After being a loyal Samsung and Best Buy customer for years, I never thought I would have an issue with something like this. Overall, this television is beautiful, well made, and worth every penny if you encounter no issues. When I have the money to, I plan on buying another, but will not use the stand that it comes with. PSA: Make sure the stand is secured with screws when you set up your tv.

    Good bedroom upgrade

    This is good for a bedroom upgrade. The Samsung NU8500 is a curved 4k UHD TV with good picture quality. It is versatile and performs well for a wide range of usages. It can produce deep and uniform dark scenes. It can get bright to combat glare and supports a wide color gamut which is great for HDR. It also has a low input lag and supports FreeSync for use with a PC, Xbox One X or Xbox One S. Unfortunately the image degrades when viewed at an angle, so the best picture is only reserved for those directly in front of the TV. It has great picture quality, with a high native contrast ratio that produces deep blacks well suited for a dark room. Bright room performance is good, and it gets bright enough both in SDR and HDR content, although there may be some issues with reflections. Unfortunately, due to the VA panel, it is not well suited for wide rooms due to poor viewing angles. Gray uniformity is good with a little dirty screen effect which could annoy a sports fans. It has great motion handling. It has a very fast response time, and only a short trail follows moving objects. It supports 120 fps motion interpolation, optional 60 Hz black frame insertion, and can play 24p movies without judder. However, its backlight always flickers at 240 Hz, and that introduces some unwanted duplications during motion, and because of its fast response time, some stutter can occur during low frame rate content. This isn't noticeable to most people. The TV comes with the latest version of Tizen Smart platform from Samsung, also called Smart Hub. Well-organized and easy to navigate, it provides access to numerous apps via the Samsung app store. It comes equipped with the very handy Bixby voice assistant. It has good picture quality and good motion handling, which is important in sports, gaming and PC usage. The image, however, deteriorates when viewed at an angle. The TV can handle reflections as it can get bright to overcome glare and can produce deep blacks in dark rooms. HDR content is rich in detail but local dimming is disappointing. Sports fans might notice some uniformity issues, but in most other usages this will not be an issue.

    I purchased this television for my living room, as a size upgrade for my Samsung LED 47’. I really wasn’t fond about paying extra for the curve but they had sold out of the flat screen, so I figured I would give it a try. The color is not as vibrant as my Samsung LED I replaced. When in standard mode, picture seems to go dark unless you change it to the natural or dramatic setting. If watching from an angle and not directly in front, it picks up a glare in the daytime. I love the size, though I’m use to the clarity of my previous LED and this one don’t compare to me. Delivery and set up was definitely to my satisfaction. Guys were very nice and informative. They connected all my devices and even demonstrated how to work the remote, and navigate between sources/apps. I only wish my picture could be as colorful as the ones on display in the store, without having to burn the extra energy for the dramatic setting. Overall, not a total bust, though I would have rather not paid the extra for the curve, not worth it to me. I think the flat screen would have been just fine. Yes, I did add a sound bar to get those extra sound effects, though the sound directly from the television wasn’t all that bad without it.

    A Good Television For The Money

    I originally purchased a Sony television with a Sony sound bar. When I got home, I could not get the sound bar to work with the television. I returned the units back to Best Buy and they had the same issue. So knowing Samsung makes great televisions, (Televisions and smart phones ONLY!) I decided to purchase this television with a 3 + 1 sound bar. And a few days later a 4K Blu Ray player. The curved television puts out a nice picture. Not sure the curve helps with anything. And watching 4K television is next to impossible to do with very little 4K being broadcast. You have to really purchase 4K Blu Rays. I think you may be able to stream a little as well,...but I have not found any free with my Prime membership. The sound bar system was a big disappointment. The television this was replacing (still working) was a Samsung 55” 3D television. What I found was the picture quality for this new television when not watching 4K was the exact same as the 5 year old 3D television. But the sound coming from my old 3D television alone, was just as good as the sound from the sound bar. But alas this review is for the television. And the television seems to be a good television for the about $1000 I paid for it. At this price level, you would have a hard time beating the picture quality of this television.

    Crooked Stand; TV Turns Off By Itself After 2 Days

    We just purchased this Samsung UN65NU8500 TV from Best Buy TWO days ago. After taking it out of its packaging and securing it on the stand, we noticed the left side of the TV sits lower than the right side, creating a crooked look. We triple checked to make sure the stand is securely mounted to the TV with all the screws in the right place. For whatever reason, the TV sits crooked. Onto the second issue. Yesterday the TV was working just fine and we were able to watch it without any issues. Today, the TV keeps turning off by itself! We are watching YouTube videos on it and it suddenly turns off, without any input on the remote from us. This is not only annoying, but completely unacceptable for a $1,200 TV. I realize I am within the return window at Best Buy and I can just go exchange the TV for another one, but this is a HUGE inconvenience as this is not a light TV and I had to borrow a friend's SUV to bring it home in the first place. I also would have to disconnect everything and put the TV back into its very insecure box. I expected more from Samsung.

    Such a let down if you want to hook up devices

    I’ve had this TV since Jan and to say I’m disappointed in it is an understatement. Pic is great, let’s get that out of the way. If you’re planning to hookup any gaming device or practically anything from the HDMI connect box, you will be greatly disappointed in its performance. I have just about every gaming device there is and use a Nvidia Sheild and also a Amazon Fire Tv. Every single time that I have to turn on this tv, it makes me refine device and never stays connected. Several times while tv is on, it also drops connection. Just purchased a gaming PC and the Oculus Rift. Won’t recognoze the PC from the HDMI port while the rift is connected, therefore forcing me to have to return the Rift since it can’t get past the setup stage to perform. Read reviews and was so excited to get this TV based on them, but have been let down since initially purchased in Jan.

    I loved the ease of purchasing this TV from Best Buy. I was concerned about its installation, but the installer was wonderful...very meticulous. You could tell he did this a time or two previously. He was careful in carrying up the TV three flights of stairs, and he got everything right the first time. I have had the TV for over a month now. It is not my first Samsung TV, but it is my first Samsung Smart TV. It is a very cool device. I love it. The picture is great. It integrates with my other Samsung products. The picture is great considering the curved screen. The sound is really good. It integrates nicely with my Xbox One and my Chromecast 4K. The remote is very sophisticated. The picture is awesome under various lighting and viewing conditions. I love watching 4K stuff. BUT, if you have only HD stuff, the TV is smart enough to make the HD picture look great, too.

    After looking for a TV for several months I finally decided to take the better half with me to look and get her buy-in. I was looking at flat TVs and had narrowed it down to a couple options with Roku that were less expensive. She took one look at it hanging up on a back wall and said "I want that one." That was it. We have now had this for several months and it has been flawless. While it doesn't have a built in Roku it does have most of the apps I use in the Samsung store. Sound was great although I did add the curved sound bar and wireless surround speakers. Color and picture are amazing! I have to admit I wasn't to sure about the curved TV at first but it has been great and I really don't notice that it is curved at all.

    Huge difference in the picture quality from my previous 65" visio. Picture is near perfect. Wish I would of made this purchase from the start. Sound is a little odd echoing from behind the TV. But if you just bought a 65" and dont have surround sound or sound bar, get one. Then you can really enjoy the quality of this picture. Only thing I'm concerned about is the TV stand. Bestbuy came and installed it and it's pretty wobbly. Stand is stable on the entertainment center, but the TV to TV stand moves. User guide suggest putting wire from the back of the TV to the wall but I'm pretty against putting holes in my wall.

    OK, I don't know whether Best Buy will give me credit for this review. Technically I DID purchase this TV, but I returned it and re-ordered prior to delivery, so it never got to my house. That being said, I originally ordered it because of the in-store display, and the picture quality is fantastic. I wish I'd gotten this delivered, but at the time I changed my order to a lower-priced, non-curved TV because I needed more things for my new house than I had originally ordered. Still, I recommend this TV is you can afford it. Check it out for yourself and see why!

    We bought this TV without fully researching it but seem to have made an excellent purchase. We love everything about this TV. The smart features are easy to use and very convenient. The curve makes movies more immersive, the 4K HDR 240hz quality is excellent, and the sound is pretty good too. The remote buttons are minimal but sufficient. The USB slots will play saved videos on flash drive. My only small complaint is how the TV attaches to the stand. The screws don't seem to tighten, making things wobbly. They really need to fix this. However, despite hooking up many devices, I have never had a scare where I thought it was going to fall.

    I went through 4 TVs I went from LG OLED that cost 2499 Then went to samsung QLED that was 1799 Which we good TVs but wasn’t the curve or bright picture i was looking for till I can across this 8500 Samsung series which was cheaper and offered pretty much the same quality as the high dollar tvs but also had a curve to it and seem to be much brighter to me really great product just because a tv cost more and they put a extra name on doesn’t mean the product is better!

    I had been looking at all the 4k's for a few months now, online research and in store fact gathering, when you buy make sure it is all the same brand for compatibility. I can see things in movies that I never knew were there, pictures at the store are set to Dynamic, anything else will look off. You can plug a wireless desktop into this for surfing the internet, or watching youtube videos. there is a big volume difference between sources, streaming will be low, 4k player will blow you out of the room. Best investment in my entertainment center I have made in years.

    I love the quality of the picture this TV produces. I have only been able to get the 120hz input refresh rate to work at 1080p resolutions, not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or if this is a limitation of the TV. Doesn't matter because the 2160p resolution paired with a 4k HDR source look absolutely amazing. I chose the curved NU8500 model over the flat NU8000 model, and it was definitely worth the extra couple bucks. Would recommend to anybody looking for a TV with excellent picture, without wanting to spend the premium $$$ on the quantum dot series TVs.

    I love how easy it is to navigate through the menus. You can modify the menus to have the apps you use like Netflix, HULU, and the spectrum app for TV programming. The picture quality was the best on the market. Sony nor LG come close. My only complaint would be the remote. It's too small and it always falls. I bought a silicone cover for it on ebay. Trust me get it because this remote is always being dropped. This TV works perfect with my PS4. Game mode allows for faster refresh rate. HDR mode really improves picture quality.

    The picture is beautiful. The tv was easy to set up, even for me which is not usual. I only gave it four stars because the sound is horrific. I know other reviews said it was bad, bad is not the word horrific, we can barely hear on 91. Nothing a sound bar cannot fix, but for the price of the television the sound should be just as excellent as the picture. I know people have been complaining about the samsung commercials we did not experience that but I did select no to everything they were asking me to agree to.

    Excellent picture quality. I absolutely love this TV. Best purchase I made in 2018! The remote is voice activated, which honestly I cant quite figure out yet, I'm sure it is super easy. But if you have a Samsung phone, you can use your phone as the remote and do screen mirror, which is casting your phone to the screen by the click of one button. The curved TV definitely enhances the picture quality even more. The only thing better out there at this time would be a curved QED model which was double the price I purchased this TV at. This TV was definitely worth what I paid for it!

    I came into the store looking for a 75” TV for my living room. After measuring, I realized that I just didn’t have the space. I went with the curved 65” instead. Am I ever glad I did. This tv is super sharp and crisp. The one knock I would give it is the sound quality. It does not appear that the built in speakers are very good quality. Once you turn the volume up past 27 or so, it starts to muffle a bit and create come feedback. Picture wise, it is an amazing TV.

    We had a hard time getting started with all the set-ups but it is just because we didn't know what we were doing. Once we figured it out, everything works like a champ. Note read the directions before trying to use the remote control. You have to set it up first - it doesn't just automatically work out of the box. We pointed and clicked that thing for 2 hours - was ready to take the whole TV back - DUH read the directions!!! It really does work!

    Bought brnad new Samsung 60 inch TV Installation came. The person installing, removed my Firestick and now I can't get it to work. TV Isn't working on the 5G network. Too much of a rush to charge $100.00 for them to basically take it out of the bag, give me a quick tutorial and leave. Now, I have to call Verizon Tech support and figure out how to get my FIREStick to work again. I lost many apps
