    Backlight changes are deal breaker

The dual LED gives great contrast but at a huge cost. When in a scene where one shot has character in dark and the other in light, there is a delayed backlight change to adjust brightness. Once on the character it isn’t noticed but as the shot goes back and forth it is so annoying. I had to return this and just go OLED. Once I saw that, I couldn’t unsee and all the settings in the world doesn’t change the fatal flaw. Stand was the easiest I have ever assembled.

Wow, I could not have been less impressed. After two weeks I returned it and got a different brand. Sports were horrible, the football skipped across the screen like stop-gap animation. Movies looked horrible, like they were shot with an ‘80’s era camcorder. I tried every adjustment and read every article and got it semi-functional but it was not nearly as good as my 10 year old plasma and certainly not worth $1200. I swapped it for a Sony 900H and am MUCH happier.

Received this TV yesterday after doing a ton of research. Giving it 2 stars because we had to re-set up Alexa this morning (stopped working after it was working fine yesterday) and because dark scenes in shows, whether streaming directly through the TV, using Apple TV or Directv are impossible to see! The screen is so dark. We have been googling the issue and trying to change all kinds of settings but it's really awful. And, it happens whether the room is lit or completely dark. My 13 year old plasma was easier to watch! So disappointed in this purchase.

      Chris:

Thank you for purchasing the Q70T TV and for your review. I am sorry to hear that you are not happy with the brightness levels of your picture. You can try Dynamic Picture Mode, or manually adjust the Brightness settings to your liking.

Dynamic Picture Mode will make pictures brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments. Go to: Settings > Picture > Picture Mode > Dynamic

Or manually adjust the Brightness and other settings to your liking. Go to: Settings> Picture> Expert Settings

You may also want to disable Power Saving Mode which automatically adjusts the brightness to reduce the TV’s power consumption.
Go to Settings> General> Eco Solution> Power Saving Mode.

Ambient Light Detection will also automatically adjust the brightness level of the TV, according to the ambient light level, to reduce power consumption. If Ambient Light Detection has adjusted the screen brightness to a too bright or dark level, you can select Minimum Brightness to manually adjust the minimum screen brightness. Go to Settings> General> Eco Solution> Ambient Light Detection

Please also be sure you are running the latest firmware. You can check to see what software version your TV is using and if there is an available update through the settings on your TV. Go to: Settings>Support>Software Update. (1460.9 released on 12/7/20)

You may want to enable automatic updates for convenience. Select Settings > Support > Software Update, then select Auto Update.

I hope this helps to improve your picture. Should you need further assistance, please contact Samsung Customer Support.

I owned 60r last year. which I think had better picture quality. This TV has problems in showing black background and not not able yo show no natural colors. Also I connected my sound-bar with optical audio. Every time I turn on. It will annoy asking me to fix audio.Even it has different software not as smooth as last year q60r series. If you planning to spend this much ..would suggest to go little up to q90 or OLED.

      Ravi,

We appreciate your purchase and review of this Q70T QLED Smart TV.

There are several preset picture modes and many custom settings that can optimize image quality for your viewing scenario.
Go to HOME > SETTINGS > PICTURE > PICTURE MODE and choose:
      1) Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments.
      2) Standard: This is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments.
      3) Natural: Reduces eye strain for a comfortable viewing experience.
      4) Movie: Suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room.
      5) Filmmaker: Watch the source content (e.g., movie) as it is.

You can further fine tune it to your liking via Exper settings.
Please see this guide for complete details:
      https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00079295/

Please repair your soundbar to your TV with these steps:
      1. Connect the digital audio (optical) cable to the OPTICAL IN port on your soundbar, speaker, or surround sound system, and the other end into the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT port on the TV.

      2. Using the TV remote, navigate to Settings. Then, select Sound and select Sound Output. From there, set the audio output for your TV.

You can also try connecting your soundbar via ARC:
      1) Connect an HDMI cable into your audio device's ARC port. This is usually the HDMI OUT port, but check your device's user manual just in case.

      2) Connect the other end into the HDMI IN (ARC) on the TV. Using the remote, navigate to Settings. Then, select Sound and select Sound Output. From there, set the audio output for your TV.

I hope these tips help resolve your concerns.

Purchased this TV and every thing was fine. Yesterday I moved the TV a little to the right on the TV stand and when I turned it on the display looked like it had a crack on it even there was no physical damage on the tv screen face. Geek squad said it considered it “accidental damage” and told me to contact Samsung who basically told me the same thing. Evidently you cannot touch the TV without breaking it? I will never purchase another product from Best Buy again and likewise I will never purchase a Samsung product again. Extremely unhappy with the service I received.

      DS123,

I am very sorry for the unfortunate situation with a crack having developed in your screen. Please know that a crack will not spontaneously develop; a physical impact – perhaps small but done at just a certain degree – would be the most likely explanation.

Very Limited for a Smart TV

My god do I regret not researching this TV more. The interface and operating system on this TV is pretty useless and even AFTER i looked into it, it was really hard to confirm how limited this TV is. While it does have Google Assistant on the TV, it is limited. It will respond to things like "Pause TV" and "Play TV", it will not sync up with Google Home to search for content so things like "Play Stranger Things on Netflix" wont work. In fact, unlike mentioned on the Samsung Website. This TV does NOT have Universal Search so if you want a tv that will search all your streaming services for a show or movie, it will ONLY return things from its own Samsung TV or Video On Demand. The Home screen will show your list of apps like Netflix and Hulu on the top but the very first item will be some app for a VOD for you to watch or purchase. On the Home screen, below the list of Apps, there are categories for recommendations for you but they are only for Samsung TV and VOD and Cannot pull in anything from Netflix. TV has multiple non-samsung apps, like Jillian Michaels Channel that cannot be removed. They can easily be hidden making it more of a mild annoyance at best. If none of these things matter to you, cool. At least you know. If they DO matter to you, Look for a smart TV with an Android OS. That one works way better as a Smart TV and probably cheaper too

      SwitchOff:

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung Q70T TV and for your review. I am very sorry that the user interface did not meet your expectations, and we will share your feedback with our design teams.

Please make sure you have followed all the steps to set up your Google Assistant on your TV:
      1) Go to Settings > General > Voice > Voice Assistant
      2) When prompted, select Google Assistant as your voice assistant
      3) Press and hold the Mic button on the remote, and setup prompts will appear on your screen
      4) Give Google permission to help you get things done with your voice
      5) Select ALLOW to let Google and Samsung share information with each other
      6) You will then need to continue setup on your smartphone. Make sure your phone and TV are on the same network
      7) Open the Google Assistant app on your phone and say “Set up my Assistant device”. If you have an Android device, the Google Assistant app is pre-installed. For iOS, simply download it from the App Store.
      8) Select your TV from the list of devices, and then tap Next.
      9) Your TV should show a code that matches the one on your phone. Tap Yes on the phone to confirm.
      10) Tap Allow to give your TV permission to access your phone.

To use Google Assistant, simply press the Mic button on the remote and then state your command. You can also control compatible devices that you have connected to Google Assistant, like SmartThings devices.

You can ask Google to find and play media content. If the content app you're requesting is not currently integrated, you’ll be directed to a YouTube result page instead. Samsung is continuously working to improve this experience.

There are some recommended apps that cannot be deleted but can be removed from the Home screen. Please know that the app you mentioned in your review can be deleted. Press the Home button to open up the TV's Home screen menu. Navigate to APPS, and then select the Settings icon in the top right corner. Next, select the app you want to delete. Finally, select Delete, and select Delete again to confirm.
