First unit had pixels out and was exchanged for same model. Second unit had extremely uneven backlighting and had a large white cloud in the top 1/3 of unit as well as uneven lighting on bottom of screen so darks would never look dark only hazy. Second unit was returned and we ended up purchasing an LG C1 oled and are extremely happy with it. Best tv I have ever seen period! Unbelievable detail and remarkable color! We had no trouble in the exchange and return process through Best Buy, they were great to work with.

Do not buy this television. After bringing the television back home I noticed all dark scenes in movies or shows were washed out (all dark no contrast). I called Samsung and they had a repair man show up and he could not repair it because when he called Samsung (after an hour and half hold) he did not get the approval to replace what was needed, even though the repair man acknowledged the problem. I have 3 other Samsung’s in my house and they will be the last. I brought it back to Best Buy ( who were great by the way) and bought a Sony. The Sony solved the problem.

      Sparky,

Thank you for choosing Samsung's Q80A TV and for sharing your experience. If your TV has a black screen even when it's on, it's quite possible it could actually be your external device and not your TV. Please try these troubleshooting steps for your blank screen issue:

      1. Press the Home button on the remote.
If the menu appears, the TV is powered on, but is either not on the correct source or not receiving a signal.
If the menu does not appear, the TV may be having power issues.

Check the red standby light, a little red light at the edge of the TV that you aim the remote at. In normal use, the red standby light is on when the TV is off (indicating the TV is on standby), and the red standby light is off when the TV is in use (or doesn't have power).

      2. Confirm the TV is set to the same source as the external device.
For instance, if your cable box is connected to HDMI 1, set the TV source to HDMI 1.
If the TV is set to the correct source, but there is still no image, unplug and reconnect the AV connections one cable at a time, from both ends of each cable. If there's any damage to the cable, it will need to be replaced.
After you've reconnected the external device, turn it off and then back on.

      3. Test the HDMI cable.
Some TVs have an HDMI cable test. Some models only have this test after a software update, and older models do not have it. If your model does not have this test, or is not connected by HDMI, skip to the next step.
The test is designed for HDMI cords less than 6 feet long and may not give accurate results on longer cords.
To perform the test, make sure the TV's source is still on the HDMI setting for the cable you want to test, and then navigate to Settings > Support > Self Diagnosis > Signal Information > HDMI Cable Test > Start Test.
If the test says the cable is bad, replace the cable. Service is not required.

      4. Test different external devices.
The final thing to rule out is the external device you're using. Try connecting a different device or using a different source port. If you were unable to test the cable in the previous step, then try swapping the cable, too.
If the TV can display a picture in any other setup, then you've ruled the TV out as the cause of the issue. Keep trying various setups until you identify the device or cable that is not working and troubleshoot or replace it.

If the issue persists after these steps, then the TV will need service. Please contact us so that we can better investigate your issue and assist you towards a solution or replacement. Call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week.

The backlight bleed in this tv really makes it hard to watch during really dark and really bright scenes. Mine has what looks like fog that stretches across the top of the screen. I had the panel replaced twice under warranty but it didn’t help. I know to expect some backlight bleed with this type of screen, but this is way more than I expected and it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Sound is out of sync with lips when using cable tv. Samsung tech came out to look at it (appointment window was 10am-1pm, Cristian arrived at 4pm. No prior call or apology regarding being late). Although this is a common issue, there was no resolution. Spectrum box and nee Samsung tv's do not have a good "handshake" I was told. No resolution. $1800 buys you a nice picture, just not in sync audio.

      Surprise,

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung Q80A TV and for sharing your experience with sound delays. Please be sure your firmware is up to date with version 1901.0 which includes updates to address any lip sync or audio delays that may be occurring. You can check this by going to: Settings > Support > Software Update.

If this firmware version is not yet available on your TV, you can download the update on a USB drive and manually update your TV:
      1. On Samsung's website (upper right corner), go to: Support > Manuals & Software > Find your TV model.
      2. Download the update and extract it to the root of a USB thumb drive. (Do not put it in any folders on the thumb drive.)
      3. Connect the USB thumb drive to a USB port on your TV.
      4. Navigate to Settings > Support > Software Update, select Update Now, and then select Yes.
      5. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the updated software.

If you've performed all necessary updates and are still hearing an audio delay across all sources/channels and you have a Home Theatre System or other speakers connected to your TV, you can access the Audio Delay settings to increase the audio delay. Go to: Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Digital Output Audio Delay

Please know that our 2021 TVs do have an audio Pass-Through feature. This feature allows the audio signal to be sent out unprocessed to an external Soundbar or receiver connected to the TV. The external Soundbar or receiver then processes the audio, thereby eliminating the added step of processing by the TV, which adds delay.

On your TV go to: Settings > Sound > Expert Settings > Digital Audio Output Format > Pass-Through

If you have tried this and your issue persists, please reach out to Samsung Customer Support so that we can provide further troubleshooting. Call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week.

I was so excited to finally get a QLED but to my disappointment , immediately started noticing small things. the brightness issue has been reported multiple times. My biggest issue is the Wifi intermittently refuses to connect when i switch on the TV and the only way i can make it to work is to unplug and plug back in.It is very disappointing since it is a brand new TV and i am already experiencing issues.

      Moashfaq,

Thank you for purchasing Samsung's Q80A TV and for sharing the details of your issue with Wi-Fi connectivity. A network issue may be the cause. You may want to go through these steps to check your network connection:

      1) Make sure that no items that can generate electromagnetic interferences are placed between the TV and the wireless/wired access point.

      2) Check if the access point is turned on. If it is on, turn it off, wait 1 or 2 minutes, and then turn it on. Enter the correct password if required.

      3) If the wireless connection fails, connect the TV to the access point via a LAN cable. If the TV can connect to the Internet normally via the wired connection, there might be a problem with the access point. In this case, try using a different access point.

      4) Perform a network test to check if there is a network problem. Press the Home button on your remote. Navigate to Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis> Smart Hub Connection Test

      5) Try a cold reboot of your TV by pressing and holding the power button for 5+ seconds until the TV turns off and on again.

To ensure that your TV's image quality & performance is optimized, be sure that you are always running the latest firmware update. You can check this by going to Settings > Support > Software Update or you can enable Auto Update for convenience.

I hope these tips help. Should you need further assistance, please contact Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM -12AM EST M-F (9AM – 6PM EST Sat). Or text HELP to 62913.
