For some reason I can go through computers every 2 years. I invested in a decent laptop but it had a regular harddrive in it. I had my geek squad replace it with this and now my computer is still running strong. It's faster in boot up and I'm very happy.

I am really enjoying this SSD. So far, it seems fast and reliable. I configured it to be my boot drive, and it has made my Republic of Gamers laptop even more of a beast than it already was. It now instantly boots, and games load up to 10 times faster than before.

This increased the speed on my old apple pc and now it looks new and even fast with more space.

I used this to replace my Win 10 boot drive because performance analysis showed that disk speed was my biggest slowdown. Installation went well, but was slightly complicated because I used the free Win 7 upgrade to 10 (no license number). My boot time dropped from 90 seconds to 20 (from self test beep to login), which is amazing. I now shut down instead of sleep to save energy. Performance while running is better only when using disk intensive apps, like photo and video editing. Normal apps haven't noticeably improved. If you rarely shut down and don't use apps that require heavy disk use, it probably isn't going to impress you. I had reservations based on friends saying their SSD failed quickly, but mine is still reliable after 6 months. One challenge is that it is small for a standard disk slot, so you may need an adapter to keep it secure.

Great product! Fast and reliable too! I was thinking of buying a new laptop but upgrading to this new SSD made my laptop crazy fast and gave a new life. Works great on my MacBook. If you're looking for a new SSD, this one should be it. Easy to clone & install as well.

This is a great starter SSD for those looking to transition into these kind of drives. This Samsung line of drives has proven to be reliable and provide a major speed improvement over traditional hard drives. For those who care, it uses much less power than traditional drives, too. It installs easily, and you can use it as a boot drive for Windows 7, as well as newer versions of Windows. Note: Install the Samsung Magician software that comes with the drive, and use it to configure how the SSD drive is managed. There's are some default choices for prioritizing things like speed, space savings, drive longevity, and power management. After getting that configuration set to what you want, disable the program from starting when Windows starts. This software has caused some strange behavior for me when I left it running all the time. However, it's setup is easy and helpful.

Good speeds fast start up. Good for people that want to upgrade or add to existing memory.

Absolutely, price of an SSD that can make an old computer seem new again is well worth it!

Replaced an OCZ Agility 3 that was performing inconsistently in a Dell E6430 - files seemed slow to load, AS SSD showed low performance and high access times, verified by HDD Scan, even though SMART said the drive is ok. HD Tune showed wide variation in transfer rates. The 850 Evo was much higher performance, low access times, and HD Tune showed consistently high transfer rates. Interestingly, turning on AHCI mode seemed to decrease the 4K IOPS thought it made access time much more even. Could not feel any difference in performance. Boot time not affected, but the files that were slow to open are back to normal, if not faster. These drives have the highest performance of all competitors and excellent reliability at a justifiably higher price. There are other good drives that cost much less that should be fine for most people. Rated a 4 because it does not come with a 7-9 mm spacer (my laptop needed this, I ordered from Amazon) and the version of Magician software provided gave strange results (which they did away with in the latest version that was not automatically downloaded). Bottom line: 1. If you are a light user - email, facebook, browsing, youtube and normally don't close your browser or turn off your computer, you will probably not notice the performance difference. My wife uses an old E6500 for email and such - it started making her wait while it was "thinking". The HD was indeed going bad, but fortunately not to the point of data loss. Installed an EVO 850 250GB (also from BestBuy) and it is working well again. My wife doesn't notice any difference from before the drive started to fail. 2. If you are a light user, where you (or the person who takes care of your PC) WILL feel a big difference is with things like running malware scans and doing major OS updates or software installs (doing a clean install on an SSD vs an HDD is like day vs night). 3. If you have an SSD in good condition, you will probably not notice a big difference by moving up to a higher performance drive. 4. If you are a power user working with very large files and want the best performance, consider utilities like UserBenchMark, AS SSD, HD Tune, and HDD Scan to see how your system is doing, and sites like Passmark to compare the performance of different options. I would start with UserBenchMark because they will compare your results with those of many other systems.

This product seems work better than the Intel's SSD and it does not cost much.
