I had all kinds of issues trying to install Windows 10 to this drive. During each attempt, the system would lock-up during formatting of the ssd. Tested the drive in other systems with mixed results before finally returning to Best Buy to exchange it for a replacement. Got it home and same issue: mixed success depending on the hardware paired with it. Long story short, the common denominator in the configs where the drive failed was the use of those "pigtail" molex to sata power adapters. The drive failed every time it was powered by 4-pin molex with adapter, yet works perfectly with native sata power from the PSU. I don't know why and I can't find any documentation online about this issue or a requirement to NOT use adapters, but FYI if you're planning to add this to your build or a new build. Otherwise, the drive works perfectly: fast, silent and looks sharp.

I love these Evo 850 drives. I've put 4 of them in computers around my office as upgrades and they fly. Great performance thus far, no quality issues. Definitely recommended.

I have recently bought this SSD to upgrade my laptop system. It had increased my boot speed and the program loading time in half.

I installed the drive in my Dell Optiplex, mirrored my old drive, and then popped out the old drive. The new Samsung booted up immediately with no problems. It works great!

My 3-year-old desktop PC was getting slow, so I replaced HDD with this SSD. Windows 10 made the replacement easy. With this SSD, my desktop is brand new!

With SSD prices dropping, I highly recommend upgrading to an SSD.

Works as described. Updated my mac book pro with this EVO hard disk and now it works like a charm - performance difference is night and day from before the upgrade

After our old hard drive went out on our main computer i was looking to upgrade to a SSD drive. After doing research i kept coming back to Samsung SSDs based on reviews. I went to my local Best Buy and purchased this drive for our computer. There is a noticeable start up difference and it seems to run smoother with this drive installed. Very happy with the product.

Computer technology continues to advance- getting faster and faster. However, one critical part of your machine has not kept up- the magnetic hard drive. While the capacity of magnetic drives is way up, the speed they can provide data to the computer has not. Enter the SSD- storage technology for the 21st century. I've probably installed 10 of these in various machines at work and for friends. EVERY time the computer owner remarks how much faster their computer feels. EVERY TIME! Back when a 128Gb drive was $300 this was still a valuable upgrade. At today's prices, unless you NEED 6TB of space on your laptop, get an SSD! If you think you need 6TB, use an external drive for all that stuff (you are not a video editor are you? if so, ignore this), get an external array and put an SSD in for your primary drive. Your 3 year old computer with an SSD will feel faster than a new computer with a magnetic drive! And STOP buying laptops with 5400RPM drives, PLEASE! Unless you are IMMEDIATELY going to replace it with an SSD. Vendors use the SLOW 5400 RPM drives to extend battery life but they make the computer unbearably slow! I frequently swap out these drives or SSDs on NEW computers as the manufacturers charge WAY too much for them. Last tip- get the drive in the kit that includes the USB to SATA adapter. It makes moving all your data from your current drive to the SSD a piece of cake! It's never failed me.

I've had three of the Samsung SSDs of this type they produce. All of them have been solid performers for me and have been reliably fast. I've got a laptop that I replaced the normal HD in and that's been working well. I now have a PC that I built with two SSDs in a Raid 0 mode for extra fast access to programs and memory. Would definitely recommend and purchase Samsung SSDs again.

I installed my ssd about a month ago, but so far no complaints whatsoever. Great improvement in speed and response than the traditional hard drive it replaced.

I purchased this to replace my old school hdd. replaced it and what a difference. definitely worth every penny.

This is probably the best and cheapes upgrade you can make to an old pc or laptop. I was thinking about replacing my work laptop from 2010 because it was struggling to use basic programs. After installing the samsung SSD, it's like night and day as far as the speed. Booting the laptop takes mere seconds and it even cuts down the time it takes to open programs. Easy recommendation.

Compact, fast, and great price to storage ratio, what more do you want? I bought one for my boot drive, then came back for a second to turn into an external hard drive. There were totally cheaper ones by brands like sandisk and pny, but samsungs are known for their rock solid reliability. My system boots insanely fast now and I don't have to worry about mechanical hard drive failure.

Excellent speed of writing and reading, my notebook boots in less than 10secs. Well worth the money and comes with good support and warranty.

I had a HDD in my 2011 MacBook Pro, and it would take forever to start up. After I installed the SSD, the start up was almost instantusly.

Migrated old HDD quickly using included software then installed in laptop and was good to go! Little confusing on the settings to be used but once worked out, performance improvement was great. Not only in booting as some people claim but pretty much across the board. Best performance enhancer I've ever used in almost 30 years of building, using and upgrading PC's!

easy to install and software that came with hard drive practically installed itself.just had to tick the boxes and let it do it's thing cloning hdd.after installed just had to tell the magician program that came on disk in box what my preferences were.only thing else i purchased was the bracket which included all the hard ware to fit in desktop bay and extra cable to connect hdd for transfer.i left the old hdd in the bay it was in and just disconnected. just running on ssd now.would definitely recommend the ssd upgrade to get the most out of any other upgrades you've done

Having only purchased this a couple months ago, it's hard to speak on its longevity, but the speed gains have been noticeable, and the price made it a steal!
