Avoid it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Directions provided are the worst I have seen. Costumer support is practically non existant. Online chat is never available and it take's days to get a response online. You tell them the problem and they act like they never got it. You can not reach them for days and when they finally respond if you don't reply within 24 hours they close the case.

Great little SSD!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great SSD! I bought two of these, a 250GB for my laptop and a 500GB for my desktop. Both are working flawlessly on day 1. I can notice a difference in boot up time on both the laptop (SATA II) and the desktop (SATA III). The desktop clone was very easy and I used the software included with the SSD to do it. There are some limitations with the included software though. It can only clone your primary drive. This was problematic for me when it came to my laptop. With the desktop I simply hooked the SSD internally to a SATA and power and booted up, then cloned. I initially attempted to pull the HDD from my laptop and hook it inside my desktop along with the SSD and try to clone, but the Samsung software would not allow it. I attempted another clone software and all looked well, until I installed the SSD in my laptop and attempted to boot. It did not work for me. I attempted to pull three different USB interfaces from three different external HDDs but none of them allowed the laptop to even recognize that the SSD was connected. I guess they weren't configured for SSDs. Finally, I broke down and went to Best Buy to buy an overpriced SATA to USB cable that came packaged with more cloning software. I ended up having to use that software because the Samsung software still couldn't see the SSD. That software failed initially and I had to run it a second time. Finally, I was up and running. Here is the one I bought: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/apricorn-data-transfer-cable-gray/3459621.p?id=1218404120715&skuId=3459621 So, for the desktop clone, it was extremely easy using the supplied software. With the laptop, not so much. Lesson learned here, make sure you have a SATA to USB adapter before you attempt to use this for a laptop. Speeds on my desktop (SATA III interface, 500GB): Sequential Read: 542 MB/s Sequential Write: 519 MB/s Random Read (IOPS): 77507 Random Write (IOPS): 63234 Speeds on my laptop (SATA II interface, 250GB): Sequential Read: 252 MB/s Sequential Write: 239 MB/s Random Read (IOPS): 32698 Random Write (IOPS): 31065 Obviously on an older SATA II connection, this thing will not get the full bandwidth, as it will be capped at 300 MB/s. But, I can still definitely notice an improvement on my laptop, and I am coming from a 7200RPM HDD, which is already better than most laptops. For reference, I am using a Toshiba Portege R705-P35 that is almost 6 years old and still running strong. Bottom line, this is an awesome performance upgrade whether you have a six year old laptop or a pretty decent desktop. You will notice a difference in boot up time and program launching time. It is worth it!

Verify manufacturers seal unbroken
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review has more to do with confirming the mailed product has the package seal intact. I received my shipment from a returned to stock item that was resold without verifying contents. The new SS HD was replaced with an old laptop HD. I didn't receive the item I ordered. Buyer beware.

Can't get computer to recognize drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After installing supplied disk management system then attaching Samsung SSD the Samsung disk management program does not work! So it's still sitting in the box unused. What a waste!!

Decent, but not worth the money paid
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this to add additional space on my laptop. Since installation, my computer has ran slower and heated faster than pre-installation. Quite disappointed since my understanding is that an SSD drive would increase my speed.

Great drive BUT HORRIBLE SERVICE
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Drive works great, cloning software worked fine with my 840 Evo only hiccup was after swapping the drives I had to go back into my BIOS and change the boot order. Its most likely my MB and not the drives fault. *I wish I could review the retailer and not the actual product* The experience was awful.. First I went into a store to use my gift card and price match the drive because of the holiday sales. The sales rep told me "Why dont you buy it from them if its so much lower?" the retailer was Newegg who I know for a fact best buy price matches. The $14 difference wasn't that big of a deal so I paid full retail. when I went to ask said rep to order it but he told me to do it online becuse "its less of a hassle for them"... I have worked retail in college and out and can say that is just lazy. My experiences with stock and overall customer service in best buy has been sub par for years. I can get better support online from an ecommerce retailer, someone half a world away than most employees in these stores. On to the real problem, I ordered this a month prior to getting it. even though every other retailer had them, BBY was back ordered for some reason without any news of when stock would arrive. Three weeks later I decided to go into a store to figure out what was going on. They had to cancel the order and re order the drive which made me lose the free game incentive (not a huge deal but still something I might use). Overall I have purchased a lot from Bestbuy including all my pc components, Tv's, phones pretty much anything that plugs in or uses power. I always wanted to support brick and mortar stores but the level of service just isn't there anymore to justify going back.

Perfect for any gamer!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a lot of high disk usage issues, so I decided to get a ssd to help speed things up, now I have 25 second boot up time and that is form a cold start up. Everything loads fast it's something everyone should get. I will say this I did give the product 5 stars because of performance but I should give it less due to now coming with anything needed to set it up. You will need a usb to sata cable which no store carries in store you have to order. Also you will need a install kit to install into your pc, also the disk it comes with won't work. You need to go online and download the updated version so you can clone your hdd over to your ssd. But besides all of that is is amazing.

I love this SSD
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Compared to the stock HDD that came with my Lenovo Y50 1TB 5400 rpm. Slow boot times just everything in general took so long to open. Not any more with the Samsung SSD upgrade my gaming laptop is blazingly fast. 5 second boot times; overall 8 seconds total for boot & program load.

Awesome SSD!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading several reviews online this SSD looked to have the best overall qualities I was looking for. I swapped out a horribly slow 5400RPM hard drive for this SSD in my Q551L ASUS laptop and the difference is night and day. This drive should have come with this laptop to begin with. Startup happens in seconds now and overall response is amazing! The swap process was incredibly easy and the software that comes with the drive works as it should. It images the drive and sets it right up for immediate operation. You will need a separately purchased USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA III hard drive adapter cable to image the drive with.

Wouldn't own a computer without one!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have one of these SSD's in every computer I own and couldn't imagine trying to do anything on a computer without one! I've upgraded my desktop and both of my laptops to this Samsung SSD and all of them are absolutely stellar. WELL WORTH the money you'll spend to upgrade. Samsung also includes a disk with cloning and SSD management software that makes it an absolute breeze to clone and set up the drive. Best money I've spent in a long time!
