This SSD was a very well made investment. I bought a laptop that was fully spec'd out however it was missing an SSD and had a tradition 5400 RPM hard drive which was horrifically slow. After purchasing the SSD all I had to do was run Samsung's program to clone my traditional hard drive onto the SSD and it was as easy as popping my laptop open and plugging this sucker in. Running benchmarks on both the traditional hard drive and the Samsung 850 EVO SSD there was basically no comparison. My read and write speeds were at about 10 times faster in regular use and even peaked out at about 12 times faster in certain applications. I was almost tempted to opt out for for a M.2 Pro from Samsung however I did not want to pay the premium for that and this actually did a great job increasing productivity in all applications. I'm sure this SSD will last a long time and I do not regret my purchase at all. Definitely a great product and would highly recommend to anyone looking into an SSD at a great price to performance ratio.

My son had an HDD that was failing. His Samsung gaming laptop had 2 HDDs that were the only thing holding back it's true capabilities. Took this opportunity to install the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD. Boot up time is so fast compared to what it used to be. The SSD really helped to keep his laptop competitive until the the video card gets to be too old.

Just installed into my MacBook mid 2009 (not the retina) and the speed difference is crazy! I had a western digital wd500 for about 6 months and the drive is way to slow for my needs. I only have 4gb ram but even with 4g ram, this Samsung Ssd just blazes by with ease. I click on an app and it opens within seconds. Garage band on my WD drive took maybe 1-3 minutes just to fully open. With this Ssd it opens up in 5 seconds!

It took about 5 hours to migrate my stuff from my old hard drive to the SSD using Samsung's migrating software (about 120 GB). After installing the SSD into my computer, Windows 8.1 booted up fine on my Asus laptop. I did a performance optimization with the click of a button and enabled the Rapid Mode setting on the Samsung Magician Software and compared the benchmarks with my old 7200 RPM Seagate HDD.

There's probably faster drives out there, but you probably won't see the difference in performance. Believe me... you want one of these. That 5400 rpm HD in your new machine doesn't compare. Running Samsung Magician on my existing 5400 rpm mechanical drive yielded a score of read/writes of 94mbs.... EVO's writes/reads were 515mbs and 547mbs... need I say more? You want this drive. At $165, what's stopping you? The cloning software is SUPER EASY... you've got to get this drive.... get it today.

I bought this EVO850 based on a recommendation from a relative who is in IT. I would have given it 5 stars except for a couple of issues. Support from Samsung web site is not the best. When I attached the drive to a USB to SATA adapter it would connect and disconnect about every minute on my HP 15 laptop. After much research I resolved this by turn off the power saving and will enable it once the drive is permanently installed. I have Windows 10 and the Samsung migration utility does not support it. It took a while to discover this so I tried using a free utility that supports Windows 10: AOMEI Backupper, a FREE and easy-to-use backup software, supports system backup, file backup, disk partition backup, scheduled backup, etc. Download at: http://www.backup-utility.com

I have not installed it yet. I ordered on line due to was not carried in the store locally. when I opened the package, I discovered blemishes or splotches on the exterior surface of the drive, Gives it the appearance of a refurb so I'm not sure what to do. I hate taking product back unless it is outright defective and I always like "brand New" items. So I give this 4 stars not for Samsung in particular or it could be Samsung packaging/production problem. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this with this SSD?

My older disk drive was always at 100% on writing when I had google chrome and word running. I like the easy transfer software kit included and really did make the transfer easy. I didn't realize that my laptop was SATA II and not SATA III so I don't have blazing fast transfer speeds, but my goodness is it an improvement. Windows restarts in seconds, applications oppen up in seconds, everything is super fast.

My buddy got one too cause it was a quality drive and a solid deal. Get it? Cause it's a solid state hard drive. Lol. Don't laugh, it's not funny...

It is a fast and a great drive, but the warranty service is HORRIBLE !!!! Will be fast while it lasts but forget about the warranty. Look on line and you will see how much a hassle it is to get it replaced. The Pro version has a 10 year warranty but good luck if you need it. That is just a way to get you to purchase the drive and nothing more. 3 STARS because of the poor warranty service. The drive however is a solid 5 stars.

I was looking at upgrading my HP Laptop as it is 4 years old. I read a few reviews and decided to try an SSD upgrade instead of spending more money on a newer laptop. Glad I did as replacing the HDD with an SSD was an amazing upgrade! The laptop boots quicker, programs open and close quicker and gaming experience is much faster/smoother. This is an excellent upgrade to extend the life of an older laptop.

All I can say is WOW,what a difference this ssd makes.I built my computer from the ground up and had always heard the praise heaped upon ssd's but was unwilling to purchase because of the cost.I honestly didn't believe they could be such a difference maker,but they are.I upgrade my components constantly and have to say this upgrade has made the most real world difference in performance that any I have done.Best Buy matched a competitors price and I couldn't be happier.It also comes with cloning software and Samsung Magician,which monitors the ssd and allows you to see the performance benefits and let you know it is working properly and at its maximum potential.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I've tried many SSD's over the years and Samsung is by far the best in regards to performance and life-cycle. They may be a little more pricey than others, but you get what you pay for. I needed more room on my C: drive and had a Samsung 840 PRO 256GB. My Laptop is an HP Envy TouchSmart 17 and can hold 3 drives with an DVD kit. So now my C: is a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO, my D: drive is the same and have a traditional Seagate 2TB for my E: drive. Pay a little bit more for the Samsung. You wont be sorry.

Glad I made this purchase. Used this drive as a first transition to solid state drives and it was the best decision ever made! Application starts up quick. Read and write is at 500MB respectively. Make sure to use on a motherboard that is a SATA III 6Gbps speed.

I purchased this SSD to upgrade the mechanical 7200 RPM hard drive that came with my laptop and I couldn't be happier. I have a NVMe 512GB PCIe SSD (Boot) and 2TB EVO 850 SSD (Storage). As soon as I installed the EVO 850 500GB SSD my laptop had more than enough space to install all the game and software that I have. With no hassles cloning the original drive. Now I have more options when it comes to installing new games and software.

The drive boot up fast but is not 500GB it is only 441GB when you connected to the computer. That is why I didnt give it a 5 star.

Bought to replace a hard drive that crashed. The product was easy to install and super quick at start-up and working programs.

I have 2 250gb 840 Evo drives, but found myself running out of room on my dedicated game drive. I saw the 500gb 850 Evo was on sale and made the upgrade. Samsung SSDs offer one of the best speed/dollar ratings available, not to mention the 5 year warranty on Evo drives. For anyone considering the switch from HDD to SSD, I recommend Samsung. Two perks are the Data Migration software for cloning your OS drive and the Samsung Magician software for drive care.

I purchased this SSD to upgrade my son's aging MacBook Pro. I chose the Samsung because it was on sale and also because I have used them in several other PCs. They have always been super quick and I've never had an issue with any of them. Read/Write speeds are great and made my son's laptop like new. Battery life increased and boot time greatly reduced. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to add a little spring to the step of their aging laptop.

The hard drive on my Toshiba Satellite started freezing up more and more. I had the Geek Squad install the Samsung Evo 850 and I should have done this a long time ago. Boot up time is super fast - less than 10 seconds. Shut down time is mere seconds and my laptop has not frozen up since. Opening up Excel spreadsheets, Word documents and Powerpoint presentations is instantaneously. Highly recommended!
