SSD of reasonable size and price. Replaced a 1 TB hard drive and system now runs MUCH faster!

This is great. I had an old intel 80 gigabyte SSD years ago until windows got so big that I couldn't install anything else on the drive. After being away from SSDs I decided to get back into the game. I was not disappointed. Windows 10 loads so much faster and games / programs open up much quicker. And with 500GB you can install most of your main games and still have room to spare.

So this is the 5th Samsung SS drive I've purchased. Most are the other M.2 format, but I have two of these SATA drives now too. Performance-wise, they are unmatched. There are some others that come close, but the only other one I've purchased that I would also recommend is the ones by Corsair. I've tried Adata and Intel as well, but they are lacking in total number of read/write cycles and read/write speeds. Overall, I would definitely continue to buy these Samsungs. I've had them for several years now and have had zero failures. Also, the included Samsung "Magician" software makes formatting and managing these drives extremely simple, if you're adding a drive as a secondary drive. If you're using the drive as a new primary drive for an OS load, it's likewise very simple to use ... depending on the make/model of your motherboard. I've used Asus and Aorus motherboards for two different OS loads and had no problems at all installing to Samsung SS drives. Once installed and you've got your OS up and running, then you can install the Samsung Magician app to manage the drive if you like. Totally optional, though.

Bought one on black friday 2 years ago and stuck it in a 3 year old laptop that was struggling. Boom fixed. A year later I bought another on black friday and stuck it in my 9 year old laptop with 6gb ram and this laptop now feels like new. Turns on fully in like 10 seconds instead of 2 minutes

What’s not to like when it comes to Samsung SSD’s? I have quite a few, including the 860 EVO, older 840’s and 850’s that seem to last forever, as well as the newer NVMe 960 and 970 drives which are easily the fastest drives on the market. Samsung drives always hit or beat the rated speeds in both the excellent Samsung Magician software and in Crystal DiskMark. Samsung’s free data migration/cloning software is second to none as it works every time, and I even use it to keep current boot drive backups using older Samsung drives. I could perhaps occasionally save a few dollars on some other brand, but to me they just don’t provide the same level of confidence and benefits of owning Samsung drives.

This is my second Samsung 860 EVO and just like the first, it installed with ease. Just downloaded the Samsung imaging software and use a Sata Wire 3.0 to USB (sold sepearately) and let the software do the work. These drives have made what appeared to be dead PC's alive again. Upgraded my Dell laptop and custom built desktop and saved a ton of money not buying new PC's.

Excellent price, easy to install (once you get to the old HDD!! - use YouTube) and easy to set up. This was for my wife's laptop. She must have told me six times already how much faster her laptop is now. (I'd already replaced my desktop and laptop HDD's with Samsung SSD's so I knew they are good. No problems with any of them.)

What Samsung did to screens they did the same to the SSDs. I'm actually writing this review with this as my hard drive! Easy to use. I don't miss the spinning hard drives with their weight!!!! Lighter, faster, can fit even the most crammed of space. Money well spent! Samsung, keep at it... don't ever relax be hungry to always make great products

This Samsung 860 evo is my 6th (or 7th?) ssd, and my 3rd Samsung. I have tried a few different brands of solid state drvies including WD, Seagate, and a couple of others. However, my Samsung 840 Evo, 850 Evo, and now, the 860 Evo are absolutely the best ones I have used. When using the Samsung Magician software, Rapid mode really turns these things into rockets! I've used them in a PS4, PS4 Pro, laptops, HTPCs, and gaming pcs. In my ps4 pro, there was one game that went from taking 2 minutes and 56 seconds from the time I selected it to the time I could actually hit a button to start playing on the original 1TB hard drive, down to 49 seconds on this Samsung 860. I was about to trash my old laptop (and already bought a brand new HP Spectre) but decided to try the Samsung drive in it first.. well now I have two extremely fast laptops! As far as my other computers go... well, I will continue to only put Samsung SSDs in anything I build or buy in the future. Also, I have tried a pro version, and unless you are doing professional video editing or anything along those lines, I see no reason to spend the extra money. I do a lot of music recording, mixing, and mastering, as well as web design and gaming, and there is a reason why I still have the Evo, and not the Pro... and it is not because the Pro just costs more. The 860 Evo is amazing, and now that they all cost less than $200, I don't see any reason not to buy one.

I have 2011, 13” MacBook Pro at home, and it was finally starting to slow down (due to wear, tear, and age) - I also recently got into the sims 4 and downloaded a lot of custom content. Needed something to speed up my Mac for performance reasons...this ssd was perfect! The difference in speed was apparent; the ssd was a billion times faster than my old hard drive. Love it, and it’s good for the price.

I purchased this for my wifes laptop. She had mentioned it was slow (it does have an I5 and 16 GB RAM) so the only thing left to do was give it an SSD! It previously had an old disk drive so it was a super upgrade that had double the storage of the previous drive which I simply cloned and replaced with this Samsung SSD.

The Samsung 500GB internal SATA SSD is compact (of course), well constructed with a case around it, unlike some SSDs, and easy to handle and install. The EVO is fast, also! The shopping experience on the Best Buy site was easy and fast, and the price was excellent, with almost immediate availability for curbside pickup.

Installed without difficulty for a new build. Considering it uses a SATA 6 gb/s connection as compared to nvme it still performs significantly better than spinning disks! I've been using it for over 6 months without issue. I would recommend for any mechanical HDD replacement or new build that doesn't require nvme performance.

The new SSD was installed in my older desktop and the unit is much faster and I feel much more secure knowing my older drive won’t have a surprise failure with a loss of my files and photos. The sale price was low and the Geek Squad installation was free. It also included a system checkup and updates and security installs. Can’t beat Best Buy’s prices and service.

I bought one of these to dramatically increase the speed of my new HP laptop. Although I really wanted at least a 1TB unit, (cost was prohibitive back in early 2018) the 500GB is doing fine for what im using it for. Boot ups take maybe 15 seconds tops, and shut downs are maybe 6-7 seconds on my Windows 10 OS. No issues with install and perfect performance since February 2018.

I need to buy another one for my storage and gaming use! I love this SSD. Has never failed. I even purchased a Samsung 830 EVO SSD and it still is running great to this date. They are amazing SSD drives. However, I do want to personally own an NMVe SSD since I heard they are quite faster and powerful than an SSD drive. I would purchase again!

This SSD was easy to install and is super fast. If you are looking to make one upgrade to a slow laptop, installing an SSD is the best bang for your buck. You can download the imaging software from Samsung and it works great!! Just be sure you have a USB to SATA cable to connect the SSD drive to image you current hard drive.

I have a 2010 MacBook Pro, and when it start giving me issues and no longer booted; I bought this as a shortcut to salvaging what I had on it, but lo and behold it brought so much speed and additional space to my aging laptop, that once I put back everything, I've been using it since & forgot it died on me a while ago... Runs like a new computer. Every aging computer needs this SSD.

Excellent Samsung SSD for the price, fast and very reliable. Easy to install.
