This NVMe drive is affordable, fast and responsive. It uses a new technology which offers great performance without pricy DRAM.

Recently I had to upgrade about 35-40 machines (built around 2015-2018) by replacing their 2,5" & M2. Bought few of this 980 and they all worked flawless (I've been buying these for several years now). I usually don't worry about this 'reported read/write speed tests', as they are not practical for daily (work) use - almost all the time (unless you constantly read/write GBs worth of data). Just trust that, this 980 would deliver it every time you turn on your machine.

Simple, fast and the right price. Purchased this on sale. Pop into my laptop and was up and running in a few minutes. Perfect purchase.

Easy install. Do note this does not come with a motherboard screw. Decent price. Used for boot drive and have had no issues

I have a Dell OptiPlex 9050 desktop that was taking longer and longer to boot into Windows 10. I was going to replace the internal hard drive with a 2.5 inch SSD, but discovered that there was also a M2 slot on the mother board, so I purchased the Samsung SSD 980 based on my great experiences with Samsung drives in my laptops. This drive did not disappoint. I can now boot into Windows 10 in less than 45 seconds, where as the original Barracuda 7200 rpm drive was taking upwards of 2 minutes.

Fast and a storage beast. I now have every pc game I own downloaded thanks to this great drive. It is a bit pricy though.

Basically the same drive as the 970 Plus without DRAM. Read and write sppeds are similar to the 970 plus but it is slightly slower, probably due to being void of DRAM. Still a solid drive if you can't get your hands on a 970 plus for the same or cheaper price or if you're just not wanting to shell out the bucks for the 980 Pro at the time of purchase. If your system is PCIe gen4 capable, you should be looking at the 980 Pro otherwise the 980 SSD or the 970 Plus will be more than sufficient.

No complaints at all. Data speeds are as expected for an nvme drive. Used with a MacBook for housing large sample libraries and virtual instruments in a music production environment. Still fairly new, but no reliability issues so far.

So far, the device has worked as expected. I'll give it an excellent once it exceeds a 24 months of active use.

great choice for first SSD amazing speed much needed

Built my mom a PC and used this for her main drive. Works fine so far and load times are pretty quick. I was coming off SATA drives before this.

The NVMe 3x$ 980 of Samsung is very fast, my boot time using a Windows 11 decreased to 3 seconds. I was impressed!!!

This NVMe drive is plenty fast for most uses, including gaming. It does not have DRAM so for prolonged file transfers, it will slow down eventually. But if you're not doing anything that will stress the drive that way, which is most workloads, it'll work great as a boot drive.

Have always been happy with Samsung SSDs, and this one is no exception. Fast and reliable.

Works well, fast, was reasonably priced at the time of purchase. Plus it can be swapped out and upgraded as well.
