Incredible speed for gaming, large file transfers, etc. Stable and has countless of stress tests by reputable outlets that show its durability. Definitely recommend.

Now I have 2TB internal and use the stock NVME as a 512gb external. Overall this NVME drive is fantastic and I would recommend it. (I managed to buy this on sale, but even without the sale it's worth the value)

While it’s great to hear that you’re loving the performance of your 990 PRO SSD, it’s unfortunate to hear the SSD did not meet your storage expectations.
Samsung drives adhere to the IDEMA standard of advanced formatting, which will result in the drive appearing as less than the listed size. This is a common industry-wide standard.
The amount of space that appears to be "missing" is in fact used by the drive/card for storing firmware, metadata and spare blocks. Your operating system (Windows, Linux, etc.) will also affect the usable space -- different operating systems will use different amounts of space to store their metadata. Consequently, formatted space will always be less than unformatted space.
You can look IDEMA up online for more technical details about this standard, which is established by The International Disk Drive Equipment and Materials Association.

I picked this 2 TB up for $135 (same cost I paid for my 1 TB 970 and 980 1+ years ago) to replace my stock 2023 ASUS G14 Zephyrus 512GB SSD and it's been amazing so far. Love this brand and would recommend picking up before SSD NVMe M.2 go back up in price.

After that just copying the old 1 Tb sad to this new 2Tb one. Just make sure you have all the anti static equipment.

This is the second one we have bought in a few months for both of our boys' gaming computers. The only thing I don't like is that this does not come with the stand off screws you need. Best Buy doesn't carry them either. We had to drive 20 minutes to a Micro Center to get the screws.
