This thing is blazing fast. And I can’t complain about 4TB of memory. If you’re thinking about upgrading, do it! You won’t regret it.

Great timing with the sale right now. Easy to install, 4TBs of storage, and very fast. I've used 980 Pros for a couple of years, but the 1TB was getting low on space. This 4TB drive is perfect for my needs as I video edit and create motion graphics. I love it!

Even though my older laptop caps its full speed, (Got my Lenovo in 2022) the Samsung 990 Pro 4TB still delivers a noticeable performance boost, and I’m loving the massive storage.

Beefy speedy ssd. Thing thing will get heat throttled unless you give it a heatsink. Doesn't take much though. I used a lowprofile 2mm copper and its running fine in my laptop. Knocked the heat down by 20c. Knocked 1 star off because it really should be sold with a heatsink.

Excellent SSD, unfortunately Best Buy corporate sent me a 2TB instead of 4TB and had to order it 2 day shipping from Amazon because I didn’t want to gamble getting a wrong one as I needed it fast. The SSD is phenomenal. Upgrading from Samsung Evo Plus 1TB and very happy with it. No firmware issues and runs at maximum 47C under more than two hours of gaming and benching. The Evo went to my wife’s pc, so we’re both happy about the upgrade.

I have two of these, and they are blistering fast, even though they are not Gen 5. Interesting story: I got two of these and installed them in a new system for W11, without even looking at them carefully. When I got to the BIOS I noticed that they were 2TB instead of 4TB, and one of them was a 980 insteaed of a 990. The boxes were correct, though of course the serial numbers on the box and the boards did not match up. I had not noticed it when I first opened them. I was fearful that the Best Buy on the West side of Madison, WI might not be able honor a return, but they did, without any major hassle. The return did, understandably, require a manager's approval. They fortunately did have 2 others in stock, which I opened before leaving the store to make sure that things matched up properly, which they did.

Close to the fastest Gen 4 drive available, massive 4TBs of storage, and memory modules on just one side, making it thin enough to fit in my Asus G14 2024 laptop! I cloned the included hard drive on to this using EaseUS software and a usb c to nvme adapter, swapped the drive and it booted right up with no issues! Now I have a faster drive with out having to worry about filling up the hard drive! Can fill my laptop with as many games and files as I’d like to my hearts content!

I installed a lot of these on various devices including enclosers for expanding Storage PC's and Macs. Works really well with a Thundebolt-4 USB-C! Never had a problem with them and the Samsung Magician Software for Windows keeps them performing well and updates the firmware when needed.

Runs plenty fast enough for me at pci 4 speeds, with much more manageable heat. Plug and play installation and with enough space for photo / video editing work. Just unfortunate that the ssd sortage is really cranking up the price. Price up almost 4x since sales at the end of 2025.

The Samsung 990 PRO 4TB is an absolute beast of an NVMe SSD. As a PCIe Gen 4x4 drive, it delivers extremely fast read and write speeds, which translates into super fast loading times for games and smooth overall system performance. Installation is simple, and the drive runs cool and efficient even under heavy use. Whether you are gaming, editing, or running large applications, this SSD feels instantly responsive.

I've been using this drive for about a month now, and it has been fantastic. Super fast read speeds, no issues at all. Samsung provides their cloning software called Magician as a free download from their website, and it was a simple task. Just select "from" drive and "to" drive, and click "go".... It took nearly 4 hours to clone my OEM drive with about 1.8TB of data on it, mostly media files. After a quick install, the laptop booted right up as normal, I checked for any updates, and was off and running again, this time with double the storage space... Yes, the drive actually has about 3.6TB of usable space, the rest is for operating files -- this is normal. This is plenty of onboard space for what I need, and I have an extra 1TB SD card slot if I ever get too crazy... I chose this over the WD Black, because the WD chip is too thick to fit in the SSD slot on the motherboard. The Samsung fits perfectly. I was not incentivized for this review, but it's not too late Best Buy and Samsung... ;-)
