I tried other units, but found the charging circle to be a bit other on this unit which means I don’t have to be so precise whenever a I set my phone down. It doesn’t charge as fast as when using the lightning cable, but it does the job overnight.

Prefer this way of charging my phone vs the cord. However, if the protective case is too thick or there is a magnetic strip under it (for attaching the phone in the car, for example) - this most likely will not work. Try this type of charger in the store first, if able - otherwise risk trying to return the open package...
