    Exciting New Addition by Samsung!

Samsung revealed these Galaxy Buds Pro last month during their all-virtual Galaxy Unpacked event. I was excited to try these out once they were revealed. During the event, Samsung introduced all the exciting new and improved features the Galaxy Buds Pro has to offer. Improved sound, 2-way speakers, 360 audio, and intelligent ANC are some of the features the Galaxy Buds Pro has to offer. My experience with them so far has been delightful. If you are looking for true wireless headphones for your device these could be your next buy for several reasons. Here’s an in-depth review of the Galaxy Buds Pro. *TLDR at bottom ============================================== IN THE BOX/DEVICES USED: In the box, you will receive the case with the Galaxy Buds Pro, a USB-A to USB-C cable, and different-sized ear tips. The ones that were pre-installed on the Galaxy Buds Pro were the medium-sized ear tips. There were two other pairs of ear tips, the smaller ones, and larger ones. I did try them all and the medium ones seemed to be the best fit for my ears. I would recommend trying each ear tip out to find the best fit for your ear for optimal comfort and sound. I tested the Galaxy Buds Pro on several devices. I tested them out on two different Android devices(both Samsung) and my PC. Also, note that I did use them in various environments such as the gym, home, walks, and in bed. ============================================== CONNECTION PROCESS: I own several pair of true wireless earbuds, and the Galaxy Buds Pro are the ones that connect to my devices the quickest. Upon opening the case, my phone has already detected and connected to them in the blink of an eye. Not only is the connection quick but switching between devices is seamless and easy. One feature that is lacking with the pros is that they can only be connected to one device at a time. I have headphones that allow up to two connections at the same time and this feature has been a Godsend when your headphones are connected to a PC and you get a call on the phone. Hopefully, Samsung can implement an update that allows up to two devices connected in the future. I also noticed that the range on these is significant. I was about a couple of feet away(with about two walls in between) and there was no broken connection. ============================================== FIT/SOUND QUALITY: I have tried plenty of in-ear headphones from wired, wireless, to true wireless. On a scale of 1-10 where 1 is a bad fit and 10 being a great fit. I would give the pros a 7. Why a 7? These headphones do stay in your ear and have a nice fit overall. Even while working out and walking briskly in freezing cold temps, the pros tend to stay in place. The problem I had with these, comfort-wise, was when wearing them for an extended amount of time. The pros did get uncomfortable after about an hour of usage. Other in-ear headphones I have did not give my ears discomfort as much as these did. It’s fair to say these aren’t the most comfortable in-ear headphone out there. To summarize the fit, the pros stay in your ear extremely well but wearing them for an extended amount of time may bring discomfort. Like all recent Samsung headphones, the Galaxy Buds Pro is tuned by AKG. The sound on these is definitely on a high tier. In short, the sound the pros offer is remarkable. Any genre I’m listening to whether that is Hip-Hop, Rock, Latin, etc. brings a crisp and clear sound. The sound is balanced and all the lows, mids, and highs are distinguishable. Playing with the EQ settings in the Galaxy Wearable app (I will get into more detail later) can elevate your listening experience and ultimately bring out the sound you want to hear. Call quality is clear as well, even in noisy places. ============================================== BATTERY LIFE: Battery life is shown with 3 different LED lights (green, yellow, red) in and outside the case. The one in the case shows the battery life of the headphones and the one outside shows the battery life of the case. Samsung mentions that the Galaxy Buds Pro offers 5 hours of battery life with 18 hours in the case. This amount can vary depending on what features you enable in-app. Having Active-Noise Cancelling(ANC) always shortened the battery life significantly for me. I only managed to get about 4 hours of listening time. A tremendous feature that the Pro’s offer is seriously fast charging. About 10 minutes of charge yields to hours of playtime. A great feature to have when you are on a time crunch! ============================================== NOTABLE FEATURES: The Galaxy Buds Pro provides a wide array of features. Many of these features are accessible through the Galaxy Wearable app which I will get into more later. The most prominent feature and arguably the headphone’s selling point is the ANC technology. ANC does indeed work well. Using the app, you can adjust the ANC level from a spectrum of completely off to high. There is a notable difference between having ANC completely off and on. ANC is not the best I’ve experienced on in-ear headphones but the ANC is sufficient enough to block a lot of the outside sounds and be at complete peace. Having music at a moderate volume helps as well with ANC. Another notable feature is ambient sound. Ambient sound allows you to hear the environment around you while listening to your media. Great for when you need to be aware of your surroundings. All I can say is that ambient mode on the pros works significantly well. You can adjust how much sound you want to let in through the app. This mode also works best with another feature called Voice Detect. Essentially, the Pro’s will detect your voice and lower the volume of all your media to allow you to hear the outside world. This is useful when someone suddenly sparks a conversation with you or when you go order something at a restaurant while listening to your media. Your media will remain low volume for several seconds(adjustable in-app) and will go back to regular volume once the seconds have elapsed. The Galaxy Buds Pro also contains the following features: - 2-Way Speakers - IPX7 rated for submersion up to 1 meter of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. - 360 Audio with Dolby Head Tracking (Compatible with only certain Android devices) - Bixby Support - The ability to use one headphone while the other is charging. - Wireless Charging ============================================== GALAXY WEARABLE APP/TAP CONTROLS: The Galaxy Buds Pro’s are built for Android devices. If you own an Android device, most or all features will be compatible. The Galaxy Buds Pro’s can be used with IOS devices but IOS users won’t be able to experience many of the features the Pro’s have to offer. Android users will be able to download the Galaxy Wearable App, which I highly recommend. The app allows you to experience all the features the Galaxy Buds pros have to offer. I’ve mentioned some of these features before but here is a list of them: - Noise Controls (ANC, Ambient Sound, etc,) - Voice Detect - Block Touches - Ability to Customize the “touch and hold” on the headphones - Equalizer with many different modes such as Bass Boost, Soft, Dynamic, and more - Ability to “Read Notifications Aloud” if you are not on your phone - Gaming Mode - Find My Earbuds and more! These also have tap controls. Tap controls work well and are extremely sensitive. The tap controls are like any other headphones. Single tap play/pause. Double-tap next song/answer call, etc. The only problem I experienced with the tap controls are when I go to adjust the headphone, the headphone sometimes registers it as a pause because of the high sensitivity. There is currently no way to adjust the tap sensitivity. There is only a way to completely block the touches which completely defeats the purpose of touch controls. Hopefully, Samsung provides an update where the user can adjust the sensitivity of the headphones, if possible. ============================================== CONCLUSION/TLDR: Overall, the Galaxy Buds Pros are an excellent pair of true wireless headphones. Sound quality is one of the best features the headphones provide. Its wide array of adjustable features such as ANC, Ambient Sound, 360 Audio, voice detect, wireless charging, and more justifies the price point for these premium headphones. The Galaxy Buds Pro is cheaper than the Air Pods Pro but the amazing features the Galaxy Buds Pro offers make this a worthy competitor to them. These headphones were shy from being perfect for several reasons. ANC worked well but was not the best. Playing music at a moderate volume seemed to enhance the ANC. Battery life was subpar and I could never reach 5 hours of battery life. These aren’t the best “comfort” headphones out there as I started to experience discomfort at about an hour of usage. But overall, the Galaxy Buds Pro is a pair of premium headphones that will not disappoint you. I wholeheartedly recommend that you give these a try.

I used to daily drive Jabra, KLH and the OG Samsung buds, but when the Buds + came out, I turned to them and never looked back....Until now. I skipped last years iteration of the Live because the kidney bean just didn't do it for me. The Buds Pro to me upgraded everything that counted most to me. Inside the box you get the buds, charging case and Small/Large tips as the Med is preinstalled and also the USB A to C charging cable. I thought I would need the large as that's what I used on the Plus but the Pro, I felt a lot more comfortable with the Med size. I'll admit, it took me a few hours to get used to the new design (check pics) to make sure I properly had them in my ears correctly. Once I got that down, it was pure audio bliss. Since I already had the Wearables app installed, I just added a new device and bam, instant connection. I also paired with my iPod, which too was also really easy, though I think there is no app for the Apple economy. ANC is better on the Pro then the Plus for me as when properly in the ears, I did not hear anything at my desk at work nor while at the gym. On the other end, Ambient Sounds came in pretty good as well. Not perfect, but enough to hear those around me when needed. Equalizer is the exact same presets as the Plus and found Clear to be my personal preference. Sound to me was a step up from my Plus. Even when set to clear all my music/movies/streams sounded better. At my desk, I always have the left earbud in as my phone is on the right side of my desk, so that way I can hear for it. Saturday working from 9am to 4pm straight, I never took it out to charge and it lasted my full workday. One thing I did notice vs the plus is even though they have the sensors to know when you have them in the ear or not, that the Pro's sometimes did not "Pause" what I was listening too unlike the Plus that 100% always paused. Features were already known to me to Pause (1 tap), Skip (2 taps) or go back (3 taps). Call answering and hanging up worked the same as well. Call quality is a LOT better then the Plus. I used to have to switch to the phone when a call came in with the Plus because they wouldn't always connect properly, but the Pro's worked flawlessly for me. IPX 7 while working out didn't skip a beat when sweat hit them. I've only ever charged the cases via wirelessly and even with protective cases on them, all work as intended. If you are part of the Android ecosystem (and Samsung) these buds are REALLY great and I highly recommend them. Even Apple isn't half bad, though I suggest finding an equalizer if you can for them to get the most out of the buds. Side note. I used these A LOT in the past week due to me being in TX and suffered many power outages. Charging was quick and the buds lasted 8+ hours for me (I didn't have them blasting at full volume mind you) before charging was needed. Because of that, these are 100% my new daily driver.

Samsung has finally released the top-end model in their Galaxy Buds lineup of true wireless earbuds, and I am pleasantly surprised by the Galaxy Buds Pro after almost a week of use. Compared to it’s siblings, Buds Pro includes Active Noise Cancelling along with automatic voice detection, along with promising superior sound. And it comes with a premium price tag of $200 with a choice of 3 different colors. Design and Fit: The Phantom Black model I have has a very good build quality and the size is nice. I had no problem fitting it to my ear with the stock Medium sized ear-tips (there are 2 more pairs, Small and Large sizes). It does not have the wing-tips the regular Buds come with, but the fit is quite secure for walking and regular movement. However, for running or some intense exercise I don’t feel they will stay in place for long. The Buds Pro are IPX7 rated so there’s no issue in getting these wet with sweat or in the rain. The outer shell is a bit glossy which is not my taste, but the small footprint makes it blend in into the ear. The buds have touch-sensitive control surfaces on the outside to change volume/track etc. since they lack any physical buttons. The case can charge the buds wireless and in turn can be charged wireless with a Qi charger alongside the USB-C charging port. The matte black case is well built and seems capable of handling day to day abuse. Sound: In my experience, these are the best sounding Galaxy Buds Samsung has released so far, and compared to some other “true” wireless earbuds I have used so far it is definitely in the top end. The dual driver definitely packs quite a punch and sound can be very loud if needed. The bass is quite good and maybe a bit overemphasized, but the mid and high seems to be quite balanced. I listen a lot to atmospheric rock, heavy metal, and I found the sound satisfying. These are not neutral sounding by any means, so if that’s a requirement you may have to look elsewhere. As for the microphone, they are really good for regular audio calls/meetings. There are two visible mics (one with so called wind-shield to reduce outside noise) (I read there’s another that does the voice detection, but I don’t see any openings for that). The Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) feature is very useful and the voice detection feature makes everyday use very easy and convenient. The ANC drowned out most of the noises I hear outside my home (some amount of car noise, etc), and though may not be the best I had experienced, definitely it is one of the better one. But when combined with voice detection the Buds Pro shines. Whenever I started talking to other people, the volume level dropped off and the ambient mode turned on automatically. The volume and ANC goes back to the regular setting when my talking stopped. After using this feature for a while, I am not hesitant to go back to my other earbuds, especially when I’m outside or have people around me. Connectivity: The Buds Pro can be connected to any phone via Bluetooth and it supports Bluetooth 5.0. But here’s where Samsung phone users may start seeing the advantage being in the same eco-system. The BT codecs supported are AAC (default for iOS devices), SBC (default for Android devices), and Samsung Scalable variable bit-rate codec (proprietary, only works with Samsung phones). This does not support aptX from Qualcomm and thus non Samsung users may not get the best sound performance from the Buds Pro. However, with my use with Galaxy S10 and a OnePlus 6T, I did not find much of a difference in perceived audio quality. My understanding is the scalable codec may be more useful in environments where BT audio chopping occurs, but I did not test out this scenario. Another convenience for Samsung phones is that pairing is as smooth as it gets, as the Buds Pro pushed a notification automatically to pair to my Galaxy S10 when turned on the 1st time. For Windows 10 PCs, Buds Pro supports Swift Pair when it is in pairing mode and nearby my laptop. App Features: The Samsung Wearable app is the place to access all the settings for the earbuds. Along with the mentioned ANC, ambient mode, and voice detect feature toggle, some equalizer modes can be changed (along with firmware update, individual bud battery level) and the touch functionality can be modified. Another feature that’s only available to Samsung phone users is the 360 audio which creates a surround sound effect. However I still find this feature a gimmicky one, and the Buds Pro did not prove me wrong. In summary, the Buds Pro is supposed to be the best earbuds by Samsung, and it looks, feels and performs like that in all cases. Existing Samsung users will welcome the added features. This is not the best in all the fields as an earbud, but it balances all the acts quietly nicely. This is definitely worth considering for someone in the market looking for premium true wireless earbuds.

I love the violet color on these! The Active Noise Cancellation is ok; mainly blocks low ambient sounds. The charge case actually shuts off the buds when closed and doesn't drain over time like my generation 1 buds did.

These earbuds have amazing sound. The bass for the music is deep and you really feel it. When used for calls, the other person said that I was very clear on their end. I also like the noise-canceling effect- I can block out my family! They fit snuggly (and come with 3 different size tips to get the most comfortable fit). They pair nicely with the wearable app. I have the Samsung watch so I already had the app. As soon as I opened the case for the buds, they paired right away. The only downside- I sometimes touch them and change things. I have had music randomly start just by touching something. You can take the touch option off in the app so that doesn't happen but then you can't control the volume and other things by touch. They do have a setting (that you can change) to lower the volume if they detect talking. I talk to my dog and they would lower for 10 seconds. If you make noise while working out and don't want your volume going up and down, you may want to take that setting off. The case charges quickly and then the pods charge in the case. That gives you extra battery life. The magnetic connection ensures that they snap in correctly. These are definitely a good addition to my phone! I have not had buds before but I really like these!

Best Earbuds So Far From Samsung

Sound: These sound really good. They have a nice warm sound signature with satisfying bass and good highs. I can play these at high volumes without experiencing any listening fatigue. The EQ in the app actually changes the sound of the buds which is nice to see that feature actually do something. App: The app loses quite a few features and customization from the buds plus which had an alternative volume button and had more customization of the earbuds. But still, the best app on android, especially if you have a Samsung. Features: The buds pro has the single best feature of all earbuds, the voice detect. This lowers your music and turns on ambient sound when it detects your voice. An awesome feature. ANC is absolutely useless on earbuds, it does not work at all, I have tried every company's ANC option and it does absolutely nothing but kills your battery life. ANC is just marketing lies to increase the price. The ambient sound is much improved over the buds plus and sounds less robotic at higher volumes. The touch controls have been very inconsistent with their responsiveness Call: the sound quality is amazing and easily the best on the android market and could even rival the AirPods pro. The other person sounds loud and clear and I have got no complaints of sounding muffled or too much background noise. Fit: This is my only problem with these and ultimately why I may return these. The design on these is just dumb, the drivers are placed at the base of the bud where your most sensitive cartilage is in your ear. I loved the buds plus fit, they were my gold standard of earbud fits because they were small and so comfortable. These just make my ears feel like they are bleeding instantly. I never forget that these are in my ears because I am constantly reminded by how uncomfortable they are. A huge step backwards from the buds plus. Overall: I have really loved these so far but the fit is just that bad that I look for reasons to take them off to give my ears some relief. I am still undecided on whether I want to return these or not. But if you don't have small ears or know this style earbud wont bother you then I think these are the best on the market right now. Even over the Jabra 75t.
