When both headphones are on, turn this in and you can hear people around you. Turn it off and it's just you and your music, or podcast. The only gripe I have with these is when making.phone calls. For some reason, whenever I call someone they either cannot hear me at all, or they hear a very loud background noise. For the price, I would expect better. About $110.
