GJ3 Emerge Great Device
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a prepaid phone, the bundled service and smartphone offers a lot for the price. The screen is HD glass and not TFT. Because of the screen there's a noticeable clarity, and accuracy over other screens. Sadly, while texting there can occur lagging, yet I largely blame that on the ram only being 1.5 instead of 2.0 gigs or more. This lagging only occurs while multiple windows are open all at once and you attempt to type with the phones touch keyboard. The lagging can but not always occur for only type response and nothing else. The HD glass screen is registering more then a TFT screen. As far as I'm concerned, it's a fair trade off of which I can close multiple windows that are open. The added accuracy and clarity is very welcoming during gameplay and app use. Streaming movies and other media plays flawlessly. Touching the screen feels just as solid as holding the phone. The media side speaker is surprisingly crisp and well heard. Phone calls are just as impressive. Overall I do love the J3 EMERGE prepaid phone paired with Virgin Mobile. Honestly, I'm using a new smartphone by another carrier right now. Though the smartphone I'm using to write this review has suppossed higher specs then the J7 EMERGE, I desperately want to return to the J7 Emerge of which this phone I'm writing a review with is simular to the J7 PERX, but It's not as good as the J7 PERX Virgin Mobile alternative. ( I REFUSE TO SAY WHICH CARRIER I'M TESTING DURING THIS REVIEW.) Simply, Virgin Mobile is the VERY best prepaid service you could / should choose. I would highly suggest this phone to anyone seeking a reliable and enjoyable prepaid phone and service. It handles almost any task and gets the job done.

It's Ok
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The phone worked great for about a year. It just keeps getting more and more buggy. Sometimes the keyboard won't come up. Apps are now starting to freeze or just close out. The latest issue is that it acts like it's in a loop on start up. The initial screen will open, the phone vibrates, then the screen goes black. 5 seconds later it will do it all over again. On...and on...and on! Then it will just boot up. Who knows? Time for a new phone I guess. Also, this isn't just my phone. 5 out of 6 people in my house have the J3 and all of us started having issues after the first year.

Excellent Value

Needed a phone w/a geomagnetic sensor so it could run a compass app. I'm not a big app user but after I loaded it full I still have about 7 GB remaining. It's lightweight, with a nice size screen, but not so big it won't fit into small pockets. Only downside I've found has to do with 2 apps. The Voice-to-Text app on the Samsung keyboard does not work. Fortunately it works on the GBoard (pre-installed). Also, if you want ability to toggle the data radio on and off - to save power - you'll have do download the Quick Settings app from Playstore. And the only disappointment about the camera is that the app is not programmed to shoot from a voice command i.e. "cheese."

WORST.CAMERA.EVER!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The phone itself is not bad. I love samsung, have had others before. But the camera is crap. Everything is blurry. I constantly have to ask other people to take pictures for me and text them to me because they are so bad. Drives me crazy. It also does not have a light on the front on the top to let you know when it is charging or when someone has messaged you.

Camera failed after 8 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The phone is nice, but unfortunately the camera failed after only 8 months, with no dropping or damage to the phone. Samsung support walked me through a factory reset, which didn't resolve the issue. Now my only option is to ship the phone to Samsung for service, and how many people can go without a phone for a couple of weeks, which is the time estimate I was given? I think I'll unfortunately just replace the phone, with a brand other than Samsung.
