Awesome devise
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love all the new features on this phone. The one thing I miss from my S5 is the wave....With the note you have to use the Pen to activate the wave. With the S5 you could view your calander and messages by placing your finger over the date or message, now you have to use the pen. Other than that I love it!!!

Better in Person than on Paper
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Despite all the non-owner complaints you'll find online, let's get one thing straight: even on paper, this is a better device than the Note 4. In fact, it's a better phone than any other that exists at the moment, unless you want to argue that iOS is better than Android. There may be "critical features" missing from previous Notes (MicroSD, removable battery, arguably IR blaster) but there are reasonable explanations for these omissions. You can find nice reviews going over all the things this phone does great. How fast it is, how great the screen is, how nicely minimal TouchWiz has become, the amazing camera, etc. etc., but I want to focus on the things that come up in every negative review I've seen. First, the MicroSD card slot is gone, and it's only partially Samsung's fault and only partially greed. I can't speak for the insane premium they want to charge for a 64gb vs 32gb model or the lack of 128gb option. I can however say that you should go look up UFS 2.0 and eMMC 5.0. Basically, the latest generation of Samsung phones, Note included, is using memory that's twice as fast as everyone else and uses a different type of memory controller that is incompatible with MicroSD cards. MicroSD cards would require a separate memory controller and they would just slow the phone down. So... they axed it. I wish the larger models were cheaper but most people probably won't even use 32gb anyway. Also, look up OTG memory card readers. You can get USB microSD readers for your phone. It's not the most elegant or a permanent solution, but it's good for moving files and hot swapping media. Second, the removable battery. Just go handle a Note 5 in person and compare it to a Note 4. The size, weight, build quality, presence, everything is different and everything is much nicer with the Note 5. Some people don't care about that, but then again how do we want it? For years people complained that Samsung phones felt cheap compared to other manufacturers, especially Apple. Now they've caught up in a big way. I like the idea of the glass back, I'm just not sure it was necessary though since it does add another thing that can break if you drop it. That being said, battery life stats from pretty much all users, myself included are coming in and this thing is optimized. Also, fast charging is great, wireless charging is great, wireless fast charging is even greater. The percentage of "power users" who swap out batteries regularly just isn't big enough to justify making the phone bigger, bulkier and generally speaking, less aesthetically pleasing. Plus, you can even get fast charging power banks now. The way I see it is this: you can top it off over the day because you'll be near a charger whether at your desk, at home, coffee shop, bar, car, etc. And if you're the kind of person who's out all day and away from an outlet, then you're the kind of person who can just carry an external battery with you. iOS "Power Users" have done it for years, I think you can manage since you chose android. Finally, IR blaster. Well... If more of you had used it, then maybe they wouldn't get rid of it. Also, you might be able to find a wifi or bluetooth solution like an app from your cable company for your box. It was nice to have, but no one's losing sleep over not being able to control their TV with their phone. This isn't meant to convince anyone that the Note 5 is a Note 4+, this is just to say that Samsung made some incredible improvements with this phone over the already great Note 4. Yes they sacrificed some things, yes I wish they had done some things differently, but this is the first phone that I am so enamored of that I'm writing a review and bragging to all my friends about.

Touch Screen Issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have only had the device for a month and too many times the touch screen on the Note 5 freezes up during use when using finger. Constantly have to restart device to resolve is. Is especially bothersome when working or taking notes. Read that this was/is an issue with the Note 4, but I was told that the problem was fixed with the 5. Told wrong. Considering changing to a different device.
