This is such a great phone. It is easy to use. Love the idea of writing notes on a locked screen with the S-pen.

After we basically closed on two houses last year using only my husband's Note 4 (for signing various documents throughout the home buying/selling process right up to closing), I knew a Note would be my next phone. Love the Note 5 - same screen size as the 4, but slightly slimmer build. All the same great features as well - s pen, excellent battery, super quick response time and huge screen. Overall great phone!

Bought this phone after trying the iPhone 6 plus and the Samsung edge 6 plus. Was GREAT till it did it most recent Samsung update....and well now for some reason the screen were the letter "A", "Q", "!" is seems to be dead. Went to Samsung with this issue they had me factory reset the phone with them and the issue seemed to stop for almost a week and then it came back. Checked with the Manager of the mobile dept he said "just install a different keyboard app", I shouldn't have to do something like that to avoid a CLEAR issue with the phone I was sold. But tried a different keyboard app and the issues popped back up(almost like the screen is dead in that location) went back to best buy again and was brought to the geek squad desk....was told we see nothing wrong and was told that cant be happening and essentially called a lair. Was then dragged back to the Samsung area of best buy and my phone was plugged into there computer were they were said to fix the issue.....Promised that if it didn't fix it I would then get a new phone.....Well 2 days later the issue is there and I cant use the "A", "!", and when I touch that part of the screen it still isn't working. So it isn't an app issue. It is clearly I was sold a bad phone.
So at this point in time I am now expecting best buy to give me a new phone from the mobile area, because I have been complaining about this for almost 3 weeks now with everyone making an excuse to not actually deal with the issue itself.
The issue pops in and out and I see I am not the only person having this issue.
Phone itself would be great if this was fixed.

I was hyped to get this phone; but I was so disappointed I returned it within a few days.
Problems that you may not notice when you look at the floor model:
1. The phone is VERY slippery. Easily the slipperiest phone I've ever held. This wasn't apparent at the store, but once I started using it on a regular basis it became very obvious. I don't like cases on big phones because of the extra bulk. That meant it'd only be a matter of time before I dropped it (and one of the reasons I returned it in a hurry).
2. The screen is too sensitive and with the thin bezels, the screen would often launch an app or perform some other function because it would register a "tap" if one of my fingers overlapped the bezel just a little bit. That got real old real quick!
3. The pen is really awkward to access. With my note tablet, the pen easily slides out. With the Note 5 you have to click the bottom of the pen and then hope you have enough fingernail to pry it out.
4. Battery life is abysmal. With very light use, my battery was at 20% around 7pm. This is with auto-brightness turned off and the screen set at minimal brightness. With the same amount of use, my Nexus 6 was around 60%.
5. The volume rockers are positioned very awkwardly. Another thing that may not be obvious at the store, but when you're using it on a daily basis, it's a real irritation.
6. Too much Samsung bloat...still. I didn't fully appreciate the Nexus program and how lean Android is until I was greeted by the mess known as "Touch Whiz." If you're not coming from a Nexus phone, you may not mind the Samsung nonsense. However, it's hard not to notice the occasional stuttering and delays of the software; which is unacceptable on a brand new flagship phone at this price.
7. The "Back" and "Expand" capacitive buttons are also too sensitive. Whenever I'd go to tap on something at the bottom of the screen and got just a little too close to these buttons, they'd react.
A lot of these irritations may have gone away with time, learning how to use it along with a software update or two. However, for $850, I need to be immediately blown away by this phone; which I wasn't. Before you get caught up in the hype, you may be better off and happier with a phone at half the cost.

I've owned the Note line since the Note 2 came out; I'd give the Note 5 five stars if they had stuck with the removable back battery and expandable SD card slot. It's really sad to see that Samsung is slowly becoming the new Apple and not responding to their techie consumer base that touted the customization abilities and convenience factor that Samsung devices used to have. My review along isn't going to change the course of future development, but it really is depressing that a tech giant that was built on user experience is now basically ignoring the users that supported them for so many years.

Great Phone but Fragile as Glass

Got the phone on the day that it came out, transferred everything over from my Galaxy S4 with ease, and ordered a case and screen protector online. However just a few hours later, as I was sitting down and eating lunch, my phone slid out of my pocket, fell from a height of less than a foot onto carpet, and when I picked up the phone, the screen was cracked on the lower half. I would not recommend buying this phone unless you already have a case and screen protector ready to slap on, because the phone is very slippery without one and apparently will crack while hitting even a carpeted floor. I love Samsung and Android so it's a shame that such a great performing phone is so fragile, unless I was unlucky to get one that was faultily built. Other than the fragile build, I don't have any complaints because the phone is very quick and responsive with some great features.

The Samsung guy was sooooo knowledgeable at this Best Buy. I was going to go for a Galaxy 6 but after working together on knowing my needs he directed me towards this. So far my Note 5 has been fantastic

Samsung does it again but not as good as Samsung S6 franchise.. I still go with that.. but its good compared with the Samsung Note family... The design and performance meet the price.

The Samsung Note series has always been considered one of the most feature filled smart phones. It has also been the only premium smart phone with a stylus that has great support in writing/drawing and other editorial features. I absolutely love being able to create a quick shopping list or dinner order for picking up some grub for the family on any given night. This has not left the phone, but some decisions in design have been removed, that I believe were critical to the users who actually really love this handset.
The loss of a removable back and battery did not surprise me or upset me too bad, but combining that with absolutely no option for a Micro-SD card was appalling. How can you take something away so many users loved about this series without expecting any negative feedback, bad choice Samsung. I love the glass front, but a glass back? How many people realize the problem with a glass back? One more piece to break and have to fix. There was nothing wrong with a leather back. Stop trying to copy other manufactures and stay with what you're great at! The stylus is why I bought this phone to begin with but now it is a eject style instead of just simply grabbing it out. Way to fix what isn't broken! Samsung did a good job upgrading "some" hardware and also "some" software but the latter could have just been fixed by a software update, so you haven't sold me on that.
The real benefits of upgrading from a Note 4 would be: Better CPU, more ram and the slightly better front camera. I'm 100% sure every smartphone enthusiast or any tech oriented person would agree that these upgrades do not justify the loss of everything else that was so great about the Note 4.
I foresee that you will continue selling Note 4's but see a very bad first quarter sales on new Note 5's. I am hopeful that the response is so bad that the Note 5's successor will be rethought to the full extent.
If you are looking for your first phablet style phone, this will be a great phone for you, but you will probably be happier with a Note 4.

Reviewing this as i have had the phone for 1 year now.
This phone is faster and better than previous phone, (note 3).
definitely recommend the phone, easy to use, good battery life.
Gave it 4 of 5 stars as it does not hold battery charge as long as note 3 did, but still very happy with purchase.

I love the Note series, never had a better phone. I choose not to get the Note 4 and keep the Note 3 because I felt Samsung was gonna bring something that was gonna be big the following year , boy was I wrong, so wrong...I'm definitely a power user so I keep multi batteries on me, I switch out micro SD cards depending what is on that days agenda. Two of the three things that made the Note better than the IPhone 6 plus has vanished with the Note 5....Samsung u must Fear NOT to be different, guess ill turn this back in, pay the extra $50 to get the NOTE 4...end of a era

I bought this because I thought it was better than the iPhone, and liked the stylus feature. Very hard to use, and learn all the required apps that might make it preform like an iPhone already does(with no apps), and the stylus is a disappointment. Taking it back and sticking with iPhone. Id say the Galaxy isn't worth much without apps. Needs apps (hundreds to choose from) just to copy and paste, and to print, and even to send pics... way too complicated compared to iPhone...
