Over engineered to the breaking point

The phone and smart phone aspects of the Note 5 are perfectly adequate; and on those features I have not complaints. I'll address this review specifically to the crux of the Note 5's distinguishing characteristic: the stylus that enables the Note 5's note features.
I have owned a Note 5 for roughly 9 months and, as I said, am happy with the general features of the phone; and like the almost-Palm-like ability to generate notes and input some text by writing script. The feature is, however, a bit primitive and not as ingrained into the operation of the phone as it was on the Palms and Treos (which I owned and loved for years); but it's a start. I'll give them 3 stars for that.
However, the stylus, unlike those on the Palms, is terrible. Unlike the stylus of Palm fame, which was a simple plastic affair that slipped into a channel on the side of the unit. The Galaxy Note 5 stylus is a very slick shiny modern design that has a 2 position nub on the top that allows it to fit into a compartment at the bottom of the phone, flush with the case. the problem is that this stylus, although very slick and modern looking, breaks and can get stuck in the compartment.
I owned my first Galaxy Note 5 for about 3 months before the stylus broke and got stuck in the compartment and could not be removed. Verizon replaced the phone at no charge; but with all the normal pain of bringing up a new phone.
Recently the top of the stylus broke off, though I managed to wedge a tweezer arm into the stylus and pull the stylus out. I was prepared to buy a new stylus until I read the reviews and saw that this is a common problem and some people have replaced several styluses (or is it styli).
My solution, shown in the picture, is to wrap electrical tape about 1/4" from the end and put it in the compartment. I have enough tape on the end that I can pull it out, but the stylus get far enough into the compartment to register on the phone. Ugly but better than paying $20 or so for each stylus and having to figure out how to fish a jammed stylus out.
Because the stylus is so central to the Note 5's function, and is so bad I'm giving the Galaxy Note 5 a single star. I would give it none if that were possible.
Samsung have taken a very simple concept and engineered as such a slick cool thing that it's extremely fragile and rendered it a detriment to the phone.
Perhaps Samsung should engineer a really cool slick jammed stylus removal kit and include a half dozen replacements with every Note sold.
