Does not live up to the Note 5. Samsung took several steps back with this phone.

    Worth the wait

I've been a Note owner since the Note 2 and couldn't wait until the Note 8 came out. My Note 5 stopped working and I had to use the S7 edge for a few months. I pre ordered my Note 8 through Best Buy website and got my phone on the 8th of September, which was a welcomed surprise. I purchased the Defender and Zagg screen protector to compliment my Note. The phone connects flawlessly to my Gear S3 classic and Galaxy Tablet A with S Pen. The Samsung Themes are a welcome change, but the memory management is a little disappointing. The camera is a delightful upgrade. The Note 8 didn't come with the Microsoft Office Suite pre loaded, but I still have access to it and was able to download it. Wasn't happy with the lockscreen clock, but was able to fix it to a workable solution. Not a fan of Bixby, but we will grow to like one another. I love the ability to take notes without turning on the screen. The fingerprint position is awkward to set, but once you've reached 100%, it's issue free. I'm glad they removed the home button and I have the ability to hide it.

Longtime iPhone user switched to the Note 7 loved it returned due to recall then got the second Note 7 no problems. When I had to return the second one I was very disappointed went back to iPhone. There was a good deal at Best Buy on the Note 8 so I purchased it.

I know this review is a little late, ive had the phone for about a year now and I must say its been the best phone ive ever used, even after many months of use. 1st let me say the 6gb of ram makes this phone still relevant as we approach 2019, I can play FORTNITE with no lag with other apps running in the background. The screen is amazing, storage is more than enough(64gb with a 256gb SD card, more than my computer), put all your apps on the internal and everything else on the SD card and you will never have anything to worry about(I have all of GOT on my SD card with plenty of storage left). Camera is great, love the slo mo and the fact you can ISO pics....Ill probably have this until the NOTE 10 comes out

I switched from the IPhone 7 plus to the Galaxy S8 Plus. My friend got her note 8 in and i was wowed. So i decided to get myself one. This is the first time i can say samsung put a effort into there product might be a samsung fan for life. Apple started falling to far behind. If you havent given samsung a try you should you wont regret it. Also if you have a older andriod phone get this one it is where it is at.

    Sad Day!

As a owner of 4 generations of Note phones I am very disappointed with the way Samsung has implemented their dimming controls throughout the Note 8. I understand that it saves battery but I want to enjoy the screen at what ever brightness I choose no matter what I am doing. I compared my LG V20 screen with it and because of the options LG offers to fine tune the V20 it looks better in most things accept where Samsung is not dimming the screen. Samsung dims the screen in settings, browser, play store and other places to save battery and it sucks. Even the home screen is not quite as bright as I would like. They should have stuck with a removable battery and not worried about it! Taking it back today and sticking with the V20 for now!

This is my first Samsung Note 8; prior used Samsung Galaxies. Had to replace my Samsung Galaxy S5, which I loved, started checking on prices and the Samsung Note cost less than the regular Samsung Galaxy. I love Samsung products and I am satisfied with the Note. So many features, love the use of the Pen, would recommend to anyone.

    WARNING - DO NOT BUY!

I have been a loyal Samsung phone customer for a LONG time -- I had a Note 2, Note 4, S7 Edge and now a Note 8 (obviously the Note 7 wasn't an option due to the exploding battery issue). I was really happy to upgrade to the Note 8, and overall I do really like the phone. However, after barely 3 weeks of ownership, the wireless charging function stopped working. This is a MAJOR problem since I normally only use wireless charging. After doing a bunch of research, it appears this is a common/known defect with the Note 8. Just Google "Note 8 wireless charging not working" and you will see what I mean. Sadly, many users have reported the same defect occurring on their 3rd, 4th, and even 5th replacement phones. Had I known about this, I never would have bought my Note 8, and the worst part is that the defect happened about 3 weeks after I received my phone (just outside the 14 day return window). This means my ONLY option is now to deal with mailing the phone back to Samsung for a "warranty repair". However, it sounds like this is a design defect that is present in virtually all phones (someone speculated that due to the Note 7 battery issue, Samsung may have installed some kind of fuse between the wireless charger and the battery, and once that fuse blows, wireless charging will never work again on that phone). Anyway, please don't make the same mistake -- unless wireless charging isn't important to you, you absolutely should not consider buying this phone. I'm now facing spending endless hours dealing with this problem.

Not the same easy to use Note

I upgraded from a Note 4 and thinking of returning Note 8. The phone has a few nice features, but for the most part they took a good phone and made it worse. Instead of creating messages in 1 steps you have to do it in 2. Adding multiple recipients is a cumbersome screen layout. Editing notes is now 2 steps instead of one after you click on it. The over screen layout (ex. when maps comes up it is a little square over the app your on) was awesome until i try to make it larger and it takes 2 steps and moving fingers(not helpful for navigation while driving). There are sprint notifications that you cant swipe away for app cloud ecen if you dont want to do it and the calling plus keeps reappearing even after i said no wifi calling. (This is horrible sound, dropped calls, etc on sprint by the way) it is a nice looking phone, but much more cumbersome to use and not always responsive or intuitive.

I bought mine through Sprint leasing after a friend/coworker raved over hers (she was a diff network) [I had a junk LG 4] This Note8 phone worked PERFECTLY...for 4 whole months before I began experiencing network issues, call drops, LTE connectivity, etc. Visits to my local Sprint store gained nothing. Repeat network checks, PRL updates, to the moon. A pricey flex-lease Samsung phone DOES NOT, repeat DOES NOT poop after just 5 months of ownership! I happily swapped out and got a better phone that DID work.
