I have had 5 (FIVE) replacement Note 8s in the past 8 months most due to not wirelessly charging after a while, this one not charging at all after a while! No, I did not drop or otherwise mutilate the devices, yes I used solely Samsung parts (chargers). Presently, #6 does not charge and I've had calls in to Samsung to rectify. Oh, and NONE of the replacements were the Sea Blue that I originally purchased and preferred. Basically, I have a brick sitting on my desk for the past 3 days.

The phone itself has been great but today Samsung has lost my trust. I always keep my phone in a case with a screen protector on. I dropped my phone today and when i picked it up I found the screen destroyed with chunks of glass missing. After searching the web and making some calls I found that fixing this phone will cost half as much as the entire phone costs new! This is a ridiculous design fault on Samsung's part to make a product so easily damaged and expensive to repair!

    The Phone To Have!!

This phone is overall the total package. I couldn't be happier switching from IPhone 7. I do like Apple don't get me wrong but I find their phones to be way over priced. I got a much better phone for $200 off what a deal! Like I said being a iPhone user before I didn't have sd options. This phone has that and more. I love the fast charging as well. Also probably my favorite besides the sd card slot is this beautiful display. There is nothing like Samsung displays. It truly is a work of art. This phone is packet with so many features and positives to where you just need to get it and see for yourself. One thing I've seen people complain about is the battery size. They say it isn't big enough. For me personally I'm a fairly heavy user and I get thru a whole day on a single charge. I'm sure that varies based on apps ran and so on but so far I'm very pleased with the battery life. It's not terrible by any means.

The Note8 comes one year after the tragic events of the Note7 which caused Samsung to stop production on the phone after two recalls related to separate battery issues. With the release of the S8 and S8+, Samsung proved that it wasn't going down without a fight, and the subsequent release of the Note8 5 months later is further proof that Samsung is not going anywhere. I have had the phone for almost 3 months now and it is still, hands down, my favorite phone. I have previously owned an S8+, Pixel XL (1st gen.), Note7, Note5 and a 1st gen. Droid Turbo (previous favorite phone, but did not survive a jump in a pool). The features on the Note8 alone make it worth every penny, but on top of all that you get built into the OS, this device also has raw power and multitasking capabilities I have not yet seen in a smart phone. Six GB of RAM, top of the line Snapdragon processor, amazing screen resolution, Infinity display, edge panel controls, S-Pen functionality, and my newest favorite thing to have on a smart phone, Always on Display. I don't think I could ever use a phone without this after getting used to it. The Note8 performs flawlessly, and has had no hiccups whatsoever through its first 3 months of use. I would recommend this phone in a heartbeat!

Upgraded from a S7 Edge, same version, 8.0 Oreo. Alex at the SW Best Buy, gave me excellent service. I LOVE this phone so far. Have been on YouTube to check out all the features and secrets of this phone, it's got so many things you can do with the stylus my head is spinning. Very responsive, fast phone. 64gb storage, 6gb RAM is more than enough for me, plus adding a 128gb card should last me a while. I love the stylus, as it allows me to create, edit and save drawings and photos. That's why I like this model, so much easier to do what I want. The camera is not as good as I expected, thought the background blur or bokeh would be a little more pronounced, tho the photos and software are still excellent. Very happy with my upgrade. Always use Best Buy rather than Verizon, as the deals are better, and the salespeople are friendlier and just as knowledgeable. Get the phone, you'll never regret it.

Samsung and Best Buy Let Me Down

I have had a number of Samsung phones without issue but this one let me down. It was replaced with charging issues after only eight months. Now the replacement phone is failing and shuts off. I purchased insurance and since the original contract is over one year, I have to pay a $200.00 deductible if I want the phone replaced. Really disappointed in Best Buy and this phone.

    Beyond My Expectations!

This phone really blows me away! I see-sawed between the Note 8 and the Pixel XL 2. Stores around here didn't have the Pixel XL yet and I kept reading about the screen problems. I got my hands on a Note 8 and really liked it. I've never had the largest phone in their line up. Never thought I would like a big phone, but with reaching for my reading glasses more and more, it just made sense. It fits in my hand nicely (medium sized hands for a woman), is super quick, has a beautiful display, and is just jam packed with features! The S Pen is pretty cool; works very well. Really like the magnify option. I'm still figuring out Bixby, but I like it better than Google Assistant. This phone doesn't fit in all the places in my car that my S6 did, but I'll adjust. The car phone holder that I bought from Verizon would not hold this phone. It just slowly slid down off the magnet. I was afraid it would be too similar to my S6 and I wouldn't have enough new things to learn about, but Samsung made plenty of changes to keep me busy learning for a long time. I really like not having a physical home button. And the extra floating button on the camera is invaluable. Bravo, Samsung! The experience buying my Note 8 on Best Buy was flawless. I hadn't bought a phone outside of Verizon before, but they have their act together. I had no issues. The transaction took maybe 10 - 15 minutes. MUCH quicker than standing in line at the store!

    Awesome Cell Phone/ Portable Computer

The Galaxy Note 8 is worth the price. You can multi-task with the split screen and the S Pen brings a whole new level of productivity that I have enjoyed since the Note 1. I have opened up PDF's and other documents on one screen and taken notes on the other during presentations and classes. I can hear music videos on one screen while the GPS is running on the other. The camera is awesome and the ability to expand beyond the 64 GB of memory gives me the power to save even more data. Truly, the Note 8 is basically a small PC/Tablet that fits in your hand and pocket that you can use as a communication device. I also have an Iphone 6 plus and it just feels so restrictive on what I am able to do. I have co-workers who have the Iphone X and I must say they paid too much for a device that can't even compare to the productivity level of the Note 8. I would highly recommend the Note 8.

It is hard to hear out of the phone. This is my second note 8 and the processor is slow. I was informed that is was a recall on this device and I had to pay a 250 deductible and 35 restock fee in order to get a new phone. I do not advice this product to anyone.

I bought this note8 to try something different than Apple iPhone's, worse mistake ever! If I could return it to Bestbuy and get the iPhone X, I'd pay them 200 bucks difference! Everything about this phone is junk and I absolutely HATE it!!!

This phone is definitely not for novices or senior citizens! There is nothing about it that responds as I would expect it to. It is absolutely useless to me. I can't even get it to transfer contacts. Boo, Hiss, This is my LAST Samsung.

I changed from a Motorola Droid Turbo 2 to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. I already loved the Android/Google UI so most of that is no different. Yeah, the stylus/pen is pretty cool but I can't figure out a way to NOT save a note. Very strange. But my main "pro" for the phone is that it has such a nice feel: smooth and curvy. That's what I really love. And, of course, it has a thousand features (most of which I'll never use). Here are my "cons" (surprisingly because I thought all Androids have the same Google user-interface). * it's missing notification sounds (my old Droid T2 had many more and better choices ... Samsung's has relatively few from which to choose ... and they all sounds practically the same. * the headphone jack is on the bottom. Strange ... that means that when my earbuds are attached, I have to put the phone in my pocket upside down. My Droid T2 had the jack on top. * I can't italicize my email signature. I could on my Droid T2. * Despite my turning on this feature, the phone won't read my texts out loud when I'm driving. My Droid T2 did. * Although I can long-press the home button to open the phone, when I double-tap it, it takes like four more strokes to open the phone. Very strange UI. * my inbound emails will remain in the notification bar even if I read them from the app and/or from my computer (instead of opening them from the notification bar). On my old Droid T2, the notification bar was smart enough to know (and disappear) after I read my emails on another device I'm sure that I will discover other cons ... and, hopefully, more pros.

Great phone, improvement over Note 5

I purchased my Note 8 via pre-order and picked it up in store the day of release (Sept 15, 2017). Previously I have used a Note 5, S5, S3, and many different Blackberry phones. My wife has used the Note 8, Note 5 (which our daughter now uses), Note 3, and several Blackberry phones. My work phones have all been iPhones (6+, 6s) and none of them hold a candle to the Note line of phones from Samsung. Speed of processor, battery life, signal strength (Verizon) are all beyond what I expected; even from a $999 phone. My Note 5 battery life was getting really bad, but even after several months the Note 8 battery life continues to impress me. Compared to my work iPhones, battery life is astonishing (could be the forced install work apps on iPhone). The only issue I have with the Note 8 is the curved glass screen, try to get a screen protector to stick, I mean seriously. Tempered glass - not a chance, Zagg - just continues to peel up at the outside edges; all of these with cases on the phones (albeit slim cases mostly, not full Otterbox Defender style). I don't find this to be a fault of the phone design, just an issue with companies figuring out how to keep them stuck to the glass which is why I don't deduct stars from the phone. I loved my Note 5 and I love my Note 8!

    Upgrade from Note 4

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Upgraded from Note 4. N8 is fragile and slick so requires a case which makes it even bigger and heavier. Fingerprint sensor location is awkward, but manageable. Not a fan of the edge screen that requires special screen protector which affects touch sensitivity. Good camera. Battery is good so far, but can't replace it later like the N4. Android Nougat is way better than Lollipop the N4 was stuck with. S-pen is nice. Screen is good. Wireless charging is nice. Phone quality is good. Samsung pay works good. Speaker is not that good. Overall, good phone. I actually wanted to try an iPhone again, but couldn't do it. This is a much better phone.
