Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the Galaxy S 5 Active 4G Cell Phone's camera quality, ease of use, battery life, and screen size. Many appreciate its water resistance and the range of features it offers. However, some users express dissatisfaction with the pre-installed apps and the charging port cover. The phone's positive aspects appear to outweigh the negative for most customers.

    small problems eventually happen

Pros: great battery life, better than the s4. great camera. awesome "shortcut" button. has a cool green/camo option Cons: if you're a person who likes cases, it's a little tough to find one for it. after having it for awhile, i noticed the same problem that the s4 had, your texts won't come in the correct order. also when you push the home button, it takes you to some google page, i'm assuming it's because the home button has been used too much and is worn down now but overall, i'm extremely happy with this phone

    Minor Upgrade? Not so much

When I heard that they were coming out with the S5 I was skeptical about it. I had the s4 and I was very happy with it and how it worked, but then my daughter wanted my phone so I decided to upgrade. MAN I am glad that I did. This phone is more than a mere incremental upgrade, it is a full on monster. Much faster, better camera, and some of the features are streamlined to help you through your day. I have completed several battery tests, with no power saving apps and I can report the batter is a BEAST. In test one of normal usage (checking emails, reading texts a few pictures) in 14 hours I used only 48% of the battery. In test two, I watched a streaming movie, heavier text and email usage, and phone usage, and after 14 hours I was at 35%. In test 3 I set my phone up as a mobile hot spot, streamed three full length movies and then Milk music, built a custom widget, and after 10 hours I was at 15%. All in all I was very impressed!! The Camera is so good, I leave my camera at home now, no need for it. And I can stream the HD video with an MHL Cable (available at Best Buy) to my 50 in and it is awesome. Call quality is great, even with an Otterbox on it, and the blue tooth is easy to set up and use. I would suggest this to anyone who is in the market for a new phone!

One of the big selling points of the galaxy over the iPhone is battery life but my new phone doesn't even last as long as my 4 yo 4S. I even keep it in power saving mode and it still barely last the day. Also, the 4G doesn't seem any faster.

great phone, but lots of bloatware

Hardware spec wise, this is a great phone and performs very well. I got this over black friday when best buy had them for $0 when signing up for a 2 year contract. I also highly recommend getting a Samsung wireless charging cover (that replaces the back cover that comes with the phone) to use with a qi charger. This makes charging the phone very convenient and you don't have to mess around with cables. However, the one drawback I'd like to point out (and it seems true of all Samsung phones), is that they really load the phones up with a lot of unnecessary bloatware. There's some stuff that can be hidden, but I would have preferred they not install a lot of the apps that come with the phone. I don't think there's a way to uninstall them without rooting the phone.

I am so sorry I purchased this phone. I miss calls and texts. It is difficult to use. There is no instruction book. I regret this and wish I had purchased another iPhone

Lots of bells and whistles, but don't even talk loud into it or the glass will break. Crying shame that it's so poorly constructed. Run don't walk away from this one....

    Best phone I ever owned

I traded in my iphone 4s to get this phone the first day it was available in the store. I know I haven't even had it for a week yet but I think this is the best phone I have ever owned. The picture quality is amazing!!! It may be big in size but it is super light which makes up for the size. I love the size of the screen compared to the iphone I can actually see what I am doing now. The 4G LTE is super fast and when paired with the wi-fi I can download an app in seconds instead of minutes and they install just as fast. I love the fingerprint reader and the heart rate sensor. That was a wonderful addition to the phone. so much easier to scan fingerprint than swiping screen and entering 4 digit code when riding (as passenger) in a car on a bumpy road. Thank you Samsung!!!

Upgraded from the Galaxy Note 1, which was slightly too wide for operating with one hand. The active is just right: still huge but can be operated with one hand, not to mention the newer Android OS, which is more compatible with various apps and devices. I like the built-in case and the actual pushable buttons at the bottom compared to most other androids (including the S5), where you're actually touching the screen instead of depressing a physical button.

I manged to get my hands on the S5 because my friend works for a telco company so I have tested it for a week and I must say I am impressed. At first I thought it would just be your average high end phone but the phone runs smoothly and has great picture quality. Gave it a 3 for Value for Price since I fell it is a little expensive.

I loved this phone from the start. The battery life is excellent and better than my iPhone 4s. The battery would drain very quickly. I can go all day without charging up my phone. So, if you have an iPhone and thinking about upgrading soon, this phone is excellent for you. I would not go back to Apple again. I pretty much fell in love with this phone.

Pros: - Nice phone by Samsung !!! - Camera quality is good and also few of the apps are helpful... again it depends on which and how you use the apps. - music quality is good. Cons: - battery life needs to be improved a bit. - also samsung should stop using plastic body which degrades the looks of a cell phone, they should really work on the body of the cell phone. NOTE: if you are not worried about looks, then Samsung S5 is a good choice.
