ok as a phone but that's it.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a phone it does it's job but moving around the screens and apps is a pain. The screen also takes forever to change orientation when you move it. The camera is like taking 10yrs backward steps, the controls are hard to use and you can't see the screen if it's light out. I don't care for this phone at all.

Having a lot of trouble staying connected.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly, I am a huge Samsung fan. I have owned Samsung mobile phones in the past. From the start this 4S has been slow, spotty service and dropping calls. Its not my provider and feel that there is a manufacturing issue. When I addressed this with BestBuy, the store I bought the phone from, their answer was "Sorry, its been more then 15 days..." Basically, you are on your own. If I had known BestBuy had changed their return policy I would have never purchased from them. Well, they have lost an entire family of shoppers. My whole household will not shop with BestBuy due to their flippant response and not standing behind the products they sell.

Not really impressed with this phone
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not impressed with this phone, tried to exchange it at 28 days and was told I no longer had a 30 day trial period it had been changed to 15 days. The 30 day exchange period is one of the main reasons I purchase at Best Buy.

Best phone of 2012
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I rarely spend time reviewing my purchases on BestBuy, but this item deserved it so I thought of letting the prospective buyers know why I gave this one a 5 star rating. Pros: - Overall size: This is a very personal aspect, some people like the bigger phones, some like smaller iPhone size phones. I upgraded from an iPhone 4, but it took me no time to get used to it. My suggestion is for this part just go to your local BestBuy store and hold it and decide for yourself. Personally I would say that I can not go back to the iPhone size screen after I have used it. It is almost like going back to your laptop screen after you have used your wide screen external monitor. - Screen: the screen is just brilliant. I am not too bothered about the technical jargons like HD AMOLED PLUS (an the fact that this phone does not have the PLUS in its screen) although I am aware of what those means. You can read all about the specifics in Wikipedia or somewhere else, but to a consumer's eyes the screen is just brilliant. Sharp, non-pixelated (Retina if you want to call it), bright, and super high resolution. If you are coming from a non-Retina phone, open an webpage and you will immediately realize what it means. Once again, this is the biggest deal about these new phones, once you get used to it you simply can not go back. - LTE: I have the AT&T version, and they rolled out LTE in Cleveland few months ago. I have gotten 43mbps downstream and 15mbps upstream speeds with it - I will just leave it at there. If I have to upload videos to YouTube, I never use the home internet because I pay $50 for my cable internet that gives me 1mbps upstream speed. Once again, you do not want to get a new phone for next 2 years that only runs 3G. - External Storage: This is a great great benefit of many android phones (except the HTC One series, duh). The phone had 16GB, I purchased a high speed 64GB micro SD card from Amazon for fifty some dollars, and I have a 80GB phone. (Compare a 64GB iPhone that costs $499). The phone immediately recognized the 64GB storage, no hassles, done. Period! - Android: The only complaint I always had about Android is the jerkyness while switching through apps, scrolling through web pages, and scrolling through home screens. For a company like Google I could never understand why a 4 year old iPhone 3G could have butter like transition with quarter of the hardware the new phones have. Finally, with the Jelly Bean upgrade my complaint was taken care of. The Galaxy S3 itself is very smooth, but some times you will still see some lags between switching screens etc. With the upgrade expected any time in Q3 2012 this last issue will also be resolved. Otherwise Android is the winner. I love the fact that I can customize my home screen, have a different widget for clock and weather, and all the other goodness that comes with the OS. The best part is - you are technically savvy enough you can go to xda-developer.com and even get a brand new ROM from time to time. - Battery: I would say I am an above average phone user, but still with LTE, occasional video recording, 8+ hours of playing music, and half an hour or so phone calls during the day, I can still watch couple youtube videos when I am in bed and getting ready to sleep. You should really not expect any more with the battery with the current technology that is out there. The best part is the battery charges extremely fast, so you can always have it plugged it to your computer using the USB cord to keep it juiced (although I never needed to). - Call quality: I really can not distinguish the call quality form one phone to another (barring the iPhone 4 death grip), if you have clear signal you will get clear calls, if your signal is weak calls will get dropped from time to time. This is as scientific as it gets. No issues on this aspect. Cons: - The design: I would say it 2011'ish, it is not ground breaking. But it feels good in hand, it is extremely slim. I have been using the phone ever since BestBuy.com got it for me as one of the early adopters - without a case. The gorilla glass version 2 seems to have avoided any scratches so far, not that I would test scratching it with my keys. I just do not like to ruin the look with a big fat case. The back is plastic, it might get scratched easily (although mine has not yet), but it seems it will be easily replaceable because it is just a single piece of plastic. A quick note on photo/video: - The phone takes decent quality 8MP stills and 1080P 30FPS videos. Quality wise I am not super thrilled, but they are comparable to an iPhone 4S. For my needs this is good enough. I carry a Nikon D7000 SLR and a Sony HD camcorder when I need to shoot my kids programs in school anyway. You get the point. - My phone's photos and videos are uploaded to DropBox using the DropBox sync, while I am on LTE (meaning I am using 10mpbs+ upstream speed). So most times the photos/videos are already uploaded to my online Dropbox account and synced to my computer before I reach back home. A quick note on bundled software: - I have no complaints with the Samsung's touchwiz UI for home screens, in fact I quite like the home screen weather + time widget - Pretty much any other software you need you can get from the Android marketplace, for most you can get those for free if you do not mind reduced functionality or nagging ads. I only needed to buy SplashTop HD for remoting to my desktop, PowerAMP for enhanced music player, and iSyncr for syncing with my iTunes library - all costed less than $10. - It was nice to discover that the video player app included in the phone would play videos from my UPNP server, I was almost going to buy a software for UPNP. - Samsung software: I am not a big fan of those really, I would rather stick to the standard softwares for doing regular stuff, like Dropbox, EverNote etc. A quick note on 3G MIcroCell: - If you do not know what that is, feel free to skip this part. I used to have poor coverage from AT&T in my home. AT&T was kind enough to give me a $200 3G micro cell for free for being a long time valued customer. So now I have 5 bars at home all the time. The phone is LTE so I was thinking if it will play nice with the 3G microcell at home. No issues there - when I am at home the phones connects to my home wireless router, so for internet it uses my home cable internet, and for making calls it uses the MicroCell towers. So essentially I have 5 bars even in my basement. A quick note on data plans: - The LTE really sucks up your data before you realize because it is so fast that you will get hooked on to it, and essentially use it more. I have my unlimited $30 grandfathered data plan with AT&T, so I have no complaints here. So please be watchful of your data usage. A quick note on tethering: - I was able to download a free app (FoxFi) and tether my computer to my phone with no issues. AT&T has not complained yet. I do not use it 24x7 anyway, I rarely use it when I am in dire need. Now a days you get free internet almost everywhere anyway. That's pretty much all I have. As my review would have indicated, I would strongly recommend the phone to everyone. If you are coming from an iPhone and love the iOS and think a phone can not get any better, give this one a try and I think you will love this.

Great phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The phone is 4.8 inches, yet it is thin. The phone has excellent screen clarity and is identically or discernibly sharp as my old iphone 4. The phone is super fast and enables me to multitask among apps. The battery life is good but not excellent. I have a lot of gaming apps and apps on my phone so this could influence my battery life. The navigation is state of the art and is better than my 2010 mdx navi. The sound of music is great though not amazing because i am a Bose user. It came pre-installed with android 4.0 which was ok until 4.1 arrived, which I used Kies to update it.The phone made several improvements and is incredibly stable and operates fluidly. Most important to me was the user control. It allow me to have more control over my phone and change the settings. I was a former iphone 4 user and wifey has an iphone 5, so I used both phones before commenting. Now I am sold on this Galaxy s3 and overall loved this phone.

Truly the most awesome smartphone available!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow what an amazing upgrade from my iphone 4S. As my first android device I wasn't sure what to expect, but I now realize what all the hype is about. The picture quality is good enough to replace a point and shoot camera, the sound quality is really good, and the 4G LTE data rates are fantastic! I really like the way the phone feels in my hand and the screen is just gorgeous. The blacks are truly black and the colors are so vibrant and clear. I find myself using my phone a lot more for web stuff and searching, whereas before with the smaller screen device, I would switch to my tablet or laptop instead of using my phone because it was too frustrating. Also this device shows web pages as they are meant to be seen, complete with flash animation, just like a real computer. The GPS navigation is really amazing. I like the 3D maps and the voice instructions are very clear and easy to follow while driving. I am getting about 9 hours of heavy usage battery life, and up to 15 hours of normal usage. In car dock mode I usually have it charging, so it stays topped up enough to not really have to worry about the battery. Also, the battery is easily swappable on the go, and the Micro SD card slot allow you to add as much storage as you need, not limited to whatever the device comes with.

S3 won the battle over the iPhone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently, I switched from the iPhone 4s to Samsung’s Galaxy S3 (S3) and am pleased with my decision. The S3 won the battle between Apple and Android due to the elegant design, voice operating system, easy and fast navigation, and picture quality. Unfortunately, the poor battery life has caused me to experience buyer’s remorse and depending on your reason for purchase I urge you to think again. In my experience, using the phone as your primary or only form of voice and data usage may cause an issue. My phone dies after 4-5 hours of only minimal use and I need the device to stay charged to send and receive work communications for up to 8-9 hours a day. Therefore, if you are in a similar situation, I would recommend researching the pros and cons more than I did. However, I am keeping the phone and seeking a solution for the battery life. The S3’s voice operating system and picture quality has me hooked.

Awesome phone for anybody!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went into my Best Buy Mobile store and asked for a phone that an idiot could load music into. I passed on one popular phone, and the Samsung was recommended to me, and I'd already read the reviews. It was true on every word! Syncing music was easy. Pictures are fantastic. You even have a zoom mode (and I am a photographer). Sound quality is fantastic. The only cons I have on it, I do seem to have to charge it daily, and the bluetooth is not working on my car.

what I expected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay, so I had a Galaxy sII that I put ICS on. Loved it, but I couldn't wait for the Galaxy SIII. So I pick up a HTC OneX. Very nice phone, the beats audio is to die for, BUT it's not a Galaxy!!! Had that for about a week and a half just passing the time till the sIII came out. Got my sIII in marble white and wowzers. The Samsung interface is much more user friendly than HTC's. Both phones have blazing fast 4G LTE, great cameras, very adaptable platforms. In some way the HTC Sense is very nice, but overall the sIII is easier and faster navigating. I like the eye tracking on the sIII. Haven't as yet used S Beam because finding a lot of Galaxy sIII's just isn't happening yet. I popped a 32 gig chip in mine and it will handle anything. The widgets available on the phone are very nice also, many more than my sII. I gave up an iPhone 4 for my first Galaxy...I will never go back to the Apple platform.
