Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My first impression about this phone was terrible due to the camera hole on the screen, but because of that... i did my research... i realised that the camera hole is actually a good thing and places notification icons right beside it, instead of under the camera like the previous versions. I bought this phone mainly for more battery power and maaaan after charging it in the evening i tested it with a game running on the next evening, went a sleep without charging it and i still have 7% battery in the morning! Also love how fast everything works... like games and openning diff apps are much faster. Also love watching from this phone for better speakers and very high screen resolution. I can say that i made a very good decision on upgrading from my s7.

The 5 camera's are amazing you can see every little detail even the slightest blemish on your face or freckles. I am upgrading from a S7 edge to this and the technology of this phone is out of this world. I got the 128 gb version in blue since the white was backordered and I actually ended liking it better. The in glass fingerprint reader is amazing for it being first gen better than expected.

Service nightmare

I registered it on the Verizon network, as we have a full family plan with Verizon. The phone was working fine until August. Suddenly the Advanced Calling- HD Calling feature disappeared. That began my long journey trying to get it fixed. It took me from September to today, December 30th, and the problem is still not resolved. I started at Best Buy in September. Best Buy told me it was a Samsung issue, so I went to the Samsung walk-in tech service center in NJ. Samsung wiped the phone and told me it was working. (It wasn't.) I called Verizon tech service. I was on the phone for 4 hours. The day ended with a promise and a text that they would call back on the next business day. They didn't. They also didn't respond to my texts over the next 2 weeks to try and get resolution. I then went to 2 Verizon stores who were unable to help. So I went back to back to Best Buy. Best Buy told me to call Verizon tech service. After 7+ hours on the phone over 2 days with Verizon, they conferenced me in with Samsung tech support in the Phillipines. After an hour with a low level tech support person, a Samsung supervisor got on the line and promised to call me right back. He didn't, So I called them back in the Phillipines. Another supervisor finally said they would look at the phone, but I would need to mail it to their tech service center in Texas. It would take 7 to 9 business days to look at the phone with no guarantee they could fix it. (All this while it was still under warranty.) Who in this day and age can send their phone away to a tech service center for 7 to 9 business days? This after 4 months of being ping-ponged between Best Buy, Verizon, and Samsung, I'm exhausted and needless to say, I will not be going down the Samsung path ever again, not for phones or TVs or computer monitors or sound bars, all of which I have purchased for our household over the years.

It has been dropped in puddles, multiple times to concrete, picked it up, dusted it off, carried on. Battery life after a year is still above average to the past Galaxy S versions I've owned, the S4 and S7. Still pleased after all this time.
