Easy to handle
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So much easier to handle than the S9 I used to have. The ease of switching my Mint Mobile sim from the S9 to the S21 was easy, just had to make sure all the correct settings were input correctly for the sim to work. It didn't take long. Samsung Switch app was easily used to transfer all my things I wanted. I don't normally shell out just under $900 for a new phone, but I needed to for different reasons. I'm so happy I did.

Came with Charging Cord but not a Charging Box?
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice phone. This is my fourth Samsung Galaxy. I'm in my 70s and probably need to upgrade my phone but decided to replace my S7 because the camera didn't take good clear pictures. It has been difficult for me to set up and learn how to manage this phone. The system seems to require more steps than on my other Samsung phones. I gave it four stars rather than five stars because it only came with a charging cord not the charging box. I have a charging pad I use at home but when traveling a charging box is more convenient for packing. Miffed with Samsung for not providing a complete charging setup.

UI Not Intuitive, Bloatware, Fingerprint broken
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned Samsung phones from ~2013-2019, and transitioned to a Pixel in 2019. The transition took a little getting used to, but the UI was very intuitive and took about a week to adjust. When my Pixel broke, I wanted to get a Rokform case, which is only available for Samsung or Apple phones, so I decided to try the Galaxy S21. The case is great. The phone is not. Transitioning back to the Samsung is not intuitive. It took multiple weeks to readjust to the Samsung UI, and after a couple months, I still occasionally use the wrong buttons or motions to try to do something. Screenshots work differently and seem more likely to accidentally change the volume. There is also no obvious way to turn the phone completely off when trying to save battery if spending the night outdoors away from a charger. Related to the previous power statement, my 2 year old Pixel 3 had a longer battery life than my brand new Galaxy S21. It was even better when it was new. Samsung filled my phone with a bunch of bloatware. Some were pretty obvious, like Samsung Health or their email apps. Others were less obvious, like their messaging app which uses an almost identical icon to Google's. I didn't realize that they had pulled a swap on me until all of my messages starting coming in broken last night. I called Google support and they suggested I update several apps, including Messages. Messages wasn't installed. Samsung had blocked it from transferring over when I copied all of my previous apps from the Pixel. I installed Google Messages, and everything was immediately fixed. The fingerprint scanner only works about 1/4 of the time. I always have to scan multiple times, and get locked out and have to use my pin at least once per day. On the pixel, I might have had to rescan once a day, but I was never locked out. The Pixel would generally get it on the first scan, and occasionally the second or third. The Pixel's scanner is also much more conveniently placed on the back of the phone. One can scan a fingerprint and unlock the phone while pulling it out of the pocket instead of having to wait until you can see the phone and guess where the scanner is located on a blank screen. This one is a bit more of a preference issue, but my thumb won't reach the entire keyboard. I can only type with both hands. The Pixel's screen was just slightly smaller, so I could still type with one hand if the other was full. Lastly, although the Galaxy S21 says that it was designed to run on Google Fi, it doesn't seem to do this as well as the Pixel. Reception when out of wifi range was much more reliable with the Pixel. I have had several instances when out in a park or camping when I get zero signal with the Galaxy. This never happened with the Pixel. While I don't want to be glued to my phone when trying to enjoy the outdoors, I still want the option in cases of emergency...
