I had a Samsung S3 so the upgrade to S6 was a big difference. But it was similar to my old phone so I was able to use it right away. My only complaint would be that I had to learn how to turn off some of the apps that I did not want to notify me of every little thing. The phone overall is great.

Great hardware, OS leaves something to be desired

Let me start by saying that I have been an iPhone user from the beginning of smart phones. That being said, with what I have felt has been a lack of "ingenuity" on Apple's part, I thought it was finally time to change gears. I have been keeping an eye out for Samsung tech and what sort of 1-2 punch Samsung and Android could deliver. My first hands-on experience with Samsung or Android was with a friends Galaxy S4 (or maybe 5), I was impressed, but not sold, until I saw the S6. One of the major benefits to the latest Galaxy series of phones (S5) was the removable battery, (cheap[er]) expandable memory via SD, and water/dust-resistance; to discover that the S6 would have none of these things was a blow. Alas, coming from an iPhone, these are all things I have survived without. Not having the ability to expand storage was a reasonable compromise given the S6 comes packed with double the standard storage space over the stock iPhone (16 GB iPhone vs 32 GB S6) and the immediately noticeable quality of the Super AMOLED 5.1" display. I have read others quarrels with the 32 GB storage, saying that overall capacity is diminished to a far lower number given the size of the OS as well as the pre-installed BloatWare. But with plenty of music, a fair share of apps, contacts, text history, etc., I still have roughly half (14 GB) of my storage available; acceptable for me. The display: WOW!! Samsung has outdone themselves in this department. I am greatly impressed how Samsung is able to pack a display that is almost a half inch larger than the slightly smaller sized chassis Apple counterpart. But size isn't everything; contrast, black levels, brightness, sharpness, saturation... ALL things that when compared to a friends iPhone 6 Plus, BLEW Apple out of the water. This phone has THE BEST display I have ever seen on a mobile device, PERIOD! (Search "4k video" on YouTube and watch any of the returned videos to understand what I am getting at). I immediately drew my wallet from my back pocket and made my purchase. More about the hardware of the phone. Based on hardware alone, I'd say that the Galaxy S6 is easily a better choice than the iPhone. I have nothing but great remarks about the cameras (both front and rear). The image quality is superb! (I have no professional opinion on the matter, just from a basic users perspective). I love the different modes, filters, and effects that I have never seen offered stock (without a third-party app) on any Apple product (Modes to name a few: virtual shot, surround shot, dual camera. Effects: Collage, magic pen, sketch, etc.). Although I haven't found it practical in all aspects, I find it exciting to have a sensor built into the rear of the phone that acts not only as a camera flash, but also as a photo capture button, heart rate sensor, and pulse oximeter. Not only are these hardware features included, but the fact that they actually work and are accurate is impressive (my grievance is that the results aren't "immediate", taking 15 or so seconds to obtain a reading) The Fingerprint sensor: I have read other's reviews holding the sensor in high regard. I can say that although it is becoming less frustrating through the past week or so, I'm not sure that all of the "bugs" are worked out. I set-up readings for 4 different fingers using both top, middle, bottom, sides, etc when scanning. Getting your finger (or thumb) to read correctly the first or second time can be hit or miss (but as I stated before, it has been getting much better). I have no comparison to any other fingerprint sensors (either on the iPhone 6 or the Galaxy S5) so it may be that I am expecting too much. Anyways, the SMART LOCK feature is something to help with the times when scanning your print may be frustrating. Smart lock disables any securities to access your phone (passcode or fingerprint) IF you are connected to a specific BlueTooth Device, NFC, or GeoTag.) I set up mine to disable securities while connected to the bluetooth in my car or Geotagged at "home". It takes a little getting used to, going from just pressing the home button with your fingerprint to having to physically swipe the screen, but I like the idea. I would like to see the addition of Wireless Networks added to the list of Smart Lock options (Smart Lock enabled when connected to a specific wireless network). Battery/Wireless Charging/Fast Charge: Not sure what the deal is here, but based on all that I heard from friends with Samsung phones, I expected my device to retain a charge for an entire day and then some; wrong. With the stellar display and lightning fast processor, its understandable that the battery works overtime. Even with "Power Saving Mode" enabled and having display, data, notification, and other settings tweaked and adjusted, I am down to 20% or less battery after well less than a day's, moderate - in my opinion, usage. I couldn't tell you how this compares to the iPhone 6, but I got better battery performance from my 2+ year old iPhone 5. Hopefully Samsung is able to release a patch to help close the gap here and add some extra usage to the battery. The Wireless charger, although very cool, is (in my opinion) kind of a "form over function" addition. When your phone is down to low battery after a half a day's usage, you want a quick charge to get some usable juice back; something you won't get with the wireless charging pad; thank god for the Fast Charge (although the actual time a "10 minute charge" will get you depends on how you use the charge you get [ultra power saving mode]). I may be leaving some things out, but the bottom line is, the hardware of this phone is overall very good! I am very impressed with the phone that Samsung was able to put out to consumers and think that the S6 can be used as a bench mark for other handset manufacturers. (Hope you're taking notes Apple). However, I will be returning this phone and reverting back to my iPhone. Why, after all the great things I had to say above? Well, the Lollipop Android OS just doesn't tickle my fancy. The S6's hardware is the best and most impressive phone to grace my two hands, true. The S6 and Lollipop can do a lot of things the same as Apple's iOS (AND MORE), true. But after using an iPhone and iOS for so long, I have become accustomed to flowing through and doing/having things a certain way. The Lollipop software is incredibly customizable, yes, but some of the things that are not customizable are the things that irk me the most, mainly the notifications - I'm not a fan of the grouped text notifications, the inability to preview individual texts when more than one come in at a time, I don't really care for that I "connected to Wireless Network xyz". The stock email client seems to lag in refresh/update speed and I my attempts to find a third party email client to suit my preferences have been unsuccessful. The seeming difficulty in connecting a bluetooth device from the lock screen or being able to play music without going into the home screen and opening up the music app (or using a widget on a home screen). The way music/video/etc completely mutes as opposed to just lowering volume for the playing of a notification sound. The inability to get a custom text/vibrate notification for a specific contact to function. Android is renowned for being highly customizable and user friendly, and I spent hours in the phone settings, app settings, "more" settings, and menus trying to adjust things to my liking. Some things however, just aren't prone to change. Android Lollipop has some great features that I certainly will miss going back to Apple's iOS (Camera features, Smart Lock, Split Screen View, Milk Radio, Widgets, fully customizable home screen layout, Briefing (believe it or not, I guess some people despise of this feature), easy and direct access to download and use content (ringtones/notifications, third party music/apps [Amazon Store, Google Play, Galaxy Store, etc]), and some others. And no question, I will most definitely miss the absolutely gorgeous 5.1" Super AMOLED display. But these are all great features that I hope, beg, and plea that Apple can integrate into some of their products because they truly do make the Samsung Galaxy S6 one of THE best smart phones on the market, one that other manufactures should strive to be a little more like.

I got the phone when it came out. It's a great phone, but I don't like the lollipop OS. Plus I wasn't a fan of how you can't flip through the different pages (whatever it's called, where you have your apps at), when you get to the end, you'll have to go back, it doesn't take you back to the beginning
