Customers are saying

Customers recognize the Galaxy S7 edge as a well-designed phone with an excellent camera and long battery life. They appreciate that it is unlocked and easy to use. However, some find the edge feature unnecessary and the phone to be fragile and expensive.

Who needs an S8? Excellent in every way

The latest price drop on the S7 Edge makes it the best high end phone you can buy now for the money. Almost half the original asking price but all the same great features that made it a favorite of most reviewers. If you can't afford an S8, you can get almost the same thing for hundreds less. Almost exactly the same size (although the screen is a little smaller because it lacks the S8 edge to edge design) . Same curved edges (the whole infinity screen thing) . Same edge functionality. Just a little slower processor (you would be hard pressed to tell the difference), no face recognition, No bixby. No big deal. Like all Samsung phones, the biggest downside is it is very Samsung Centric. Works best only with other Samsung devices and insists you use only Samsung apps for many basic functions, like messaging. If you can get by that, its all good. Very fast. Excellent OLED screen, Video looks spectacular. Infinitely customizable right down to fonts and icons. Excellent Samsung health app integrates well if you have a Samsung watch or fitness band (not so much if you dont) . Great camera that performs well in all conditions. Fast wireless charging works great. Super fast corded charging even better (cause its faster). Who needs an S8? This is the way to go. One of the best phones out there at any price.

    Nice phone

It wasn't that easy for me to set up since I'm not savy to cell phones. Instruction book was not all it should be. Not everybody was born with a cell phone in their hand. Our phones have been for emergencies only until this one. Once I did some research online and on Youtube I got it set up. It's a really nice phone. The screen is a good size, easy to read and navigate through. Fits nicely in my hand. Charges quick and seems to keep it's charge longer than our other phones. A day and a half on our first charge. I'm glad I bought an unlocked phone so I can go elsewhere for service if there are too many extra charges. Pretty pricey but compared to the cheap ones we've owned you get what you pay for.

I have been a fan of the pure android experience like the nexus program. But when I saw that Samsung was finally releasing a unlocked (us) version I picked up the Samsung s7 edge. Pros let's talk about the amazing battery life easily gets you through the day then some. Software is awesome plus the bonus of no extra carrier software it runs Smoot as butter. I highly recommend this phone to anyone and with the evolution of TouchWiz (the skin on top android asop) much improved. Pay the money for the unlocked version worth every penny.

Great Phone but missing some carrier features

I really like the Galaxy S7 Edge phone and bought the unlocked version from Best Buy. When I picked up the phone at the store I was disappointed that Best Buy would not activate the phone or install the Zagg Screen protector that I also purchased. I took the phone and screen protector to the local Verizon store and they were able to activate and install the screen protector for me. Later I learned that some Verizon Features I had with my previous phone like Visual Voicemail, Wi-Fi Calling & Texting are not available to unlocked phones. You must buy the carrier version of the phone in order to use those features.

THE best smart phone for 2016.Period.

I really have given the iPhone 6+ and 7+ a chance this year but returned them both. As much as I love Apple products, they are falling behind the Samsung S7 Edge even with a later release date. The iPhone 7 screen isn't in the same league as the S7. Inside or outside the Samsung screen pops and is easily more legible than anything else out there. The thick bezel on the iPhone 7 looks dated. Battery life is really good on the S7 Edge with me being able to go two days beteen charges. The design and build quality of the Samsung S7 is easily better when handelling the new iPhone and Galaxy together. The longer I own the S7E the more impressed I am with it.

Great hardware, but bloatware still included

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I incorrectly assumed that buying an unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge would be free of bloatware or at least be able to delete unwanted apps. This is not the case, and it blows my mind. How is it that I purchase a phone for full price and am not allowed to control what applications are loaded on the phone. I am coming from a Note 7 which in less than 2 years runs extremely laggy and crashes which can easily be attributed to extra software and a buggy Samsung interface. I understand the need for certain programs to control the edge feature but not being able to delete the Facebook app, some Google apps, and a number of pointless Samsung apps makes this a bad deal for me. This is the exact reason that Apple and Google Nexus devices last so much longer and run far smoother. Sure the hardware on the Samsung is premium, but how does that help me when it begins to lag in a few short years.

This is an amazing phone I loved the unlocked devide and would have gave 5 stars but samsung has been lagging in their updates for the unlocked S7 devices. I bought this phone soley on the facts it would be upgraded to nougat and have the fm radio unlocked. Factory unlocked S7 does not have the carrier update to enable the fm radio and samsung has yet to push out the Nougat update.

    Unlocked Phone Never Receives Updates

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

If you can get a carrier S7 Edge, I would strongly suggest that especially if you want Nougat. All the carrier versions now have the Nougat update and most push out monthly security updates. I thought buying an unlocked phone not only meant no carrier bloatware but more timely updates. This phone is still on September of last year security update so it is not a secure phone to use, you will be vulnerable. Also Samsung will not be upgrading the phone to Nougat so you will always have the older software version. This is something new Samsung is doing with unlocked phones. Other smart phone companies like LG, HTC, Huawei etc will or already have pushed Nougat out to their unlocked flagship phones. Do a search for Samsung S7 Edge (SM-G935U) and you will see, no updates planned. I wish I never bought this phone except from the carrier. This is not the fault of Best Buy as they are great to purchase from and they have awesome customer service. Just this phone is being left out of security updates and OS updates.

    One of the worst phones

I have had many phones especially through Best Buy. This phone is complicated and almost impossible to set up blue tooth on. The store would not help me set it up in my Ford Sync car even though there are weird security features with the blue tooth. Also was never offered a warranty when purchased. My screen cracked after dropping which would never happen as I dropped my LG all of the time, the screen is fragile and $350 to replace. They would not even repair it if i paid the astronomical amount saying I never bought the warranty that I wasn't offered. Overall video quality is good but the edge feature it more annoying than helpful and have nothing but problems with the phone since buying it. Including with the speakers as well. All I have to say is buyer beware.

    Was Great...Until it Was't

I bought this phone on August 3rd, everything was great, I was even telling all of my friends on the night of September 29th how this is the greatest phone EVER. Then guess what? That same night I got a green a purple flickering screen, thought it would go away, but nope, it just stayed there, no way to get into anything, now it's completely useless. Turns out this is a common issue with this phone and I just happened to be one of the lucky people that got a defective one. Nothing I can do unless I want to spend as much money to repair it as it was to buy it. I'm so mad, spent all of this money to have a phone that is unusable within 2 months. Buyer beware, it may seem like the greatest phone of all time, but then BAM in the blink of an eye it's broken. And BTW...I never dropped this phone or got it wet, I babied this phone, now I'm out all this money and have a phone that does nothing.

Very disappointed with best buy and geek squad. Bought and phone and needed it replaced due to manufacturing lcd problem. They sent me a gift card to buy a replacement phone, after saying they would just mail me a replacement phone. I purchased a 2 year warranty with the defective phone. I was told it could be transferred to the new phone. I've spent over 5 hours (in store and on the phone) with best buy and geek squad. Most of these hours was me being transferred back and forth to different departments. This phone is 6 months old and all the trouble I had to go through to get a replacement is still on going. I find this ridiculous

    Too fragile, hard to hold

The Edge is a vanity project by Samsung that allows them to show off a useless curved screen technology. The high percentage of glass makes this a very fragile phone and the expense of replacing the glass makes it almost unfixable. Best Buy quoted me $320 and I would have had to take it to an authorized store 50 miles away. The beauty of this phone is pointless because you absolutely MUST put it directly into a protective case and keep it there at all times. Do not buy the edge. Get the flat s7 or the active. S7 is a good phone, good camera etc but the edge is slippery and hard to hold without a case.

I absolutely love this phone. I do recommend a very good case. The customizes that you can do is amazing vs my old motor x 1st generation. Does get warm when in use. If you have more then one app open it will drain the battery faster.

No OS updates to Android 7 Nougat available

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this phone at a premium price to avoid the proprietary apps that AT&T adds to its phones and because this phone supports all GSM and CDMA frequencies. Although all the major providers of cell service have provided their customers with updates to Nougat, the update is not available for this unlocked version from either Samsung or BestBuy. Samsung is even updating older units to Nougat before doing this one. Samsung's customer support, in this regard, is grossly underwhelming. If you expect Nougat, it is not presently available for this unit, and there is no telling when, or if, Samsung will make it available. The phone itself is fast, powerful and attractive. It is a shame Samsung is not taking care of its unlocked customers.
