    Keep your s7

So i "upgraded" my phone for the s9+ and I was disappointed immediately. I have had this new phone for a week now and nothing but trouble. The camera is amazing and the dolby atmos can really fill the room with great sounds, but there are so many flaws with the apps. The first complaint is with the text to speech, its so terrible its almost not functional, with the s7 it was way more crisp; words come out jumbled and made up words appear and samsung decided to take out the feature where you an choose an alternate word that what you said might have sounded like. When it comes to the emoji creations...like why was this a thing? making videos is cool if you wanna seem like your face is having a seizure when talking. its not a completed app. The sd card worked for the first couple of days and all of a sudden today the phone decided to say the sd card was not supported after ive been using it. like why? The battery life isnt as hyped as what they made it, after a light day of using it while taking a few photos and going on youtube i keep finding myself at 20-30% . So if your going to a music festival or your kids performance and want to record, then expect your phone to die on the ride home. So if you want a new phone just to get a new phone, then sure get it for the camera...but if you want a functioning phone that is easy to use, then go buy something else.

    Gimmicky rush to market effort

Wow...So disappointed in the effort from Samsung. Sure there are some nice little fixes compared to the S8, but for the most part this phone is a joke. I know the camera gets a lot of press, but I am not impressed at all. From the images I took, it is unreliable and nothing to write home about. The AR is an attempt to duplicate the iPhone X AR Emojis and Samsung did a horrible job at it. Also...when will Samsung realize that slow motion video can be a tool and not just a gimmick. Give users some control. Slow motion is used in my workplace all the time to catch issues. Samsung makes it one way or none and it is an ambarrassment. It use to be that Apple would take current technology and enhance it. They got ripped for this. Samsung seems to be trying to do the same but they are not making it better. I didn’t even get into the horrible face recognition on this phone. Not mistaking it...the iPhone X nailed it with fast face recognition. I love my Note 8 as well but Samsung is just so far behind. Anyone that rates this phone a 5 is a pure samsung fanboy since this is a $900 fail for the most part

Worst Phone I have ever owned

I know based on the title of my review it may seem like an exaggeration, but this phone is legitimately the worst one I have ever owned. Maybe you are reading this our of curiosity and excitement for this phone. My advice is to wait or to buy a different phone. The hardware works ok so far, but there are terrible software problems. I will list them out to save you your sanity. 1. The phone automatically rejects call. You may swear you thought your phone range and you have no notification. What it does on its own is reject calls with a text and tells them you are too busy right now. The only way to catch it is by checking your call log and texts. My phone doubles as personal and business. This has been a complete disaster as you can imagine. I have had the phone for only two months. 2. On top of the call rejecting this phone does not tell you when you have voice mails. No settings will fix this. You have to get other apps to avoid this. 3. Phone will make notification noises for no reason and for some legit notifications it goes off like a fire work. Ringing and vibrating excessively. My friends and coworkers are legitimately shocked when this happens and I have to tell them its nothing. TO which they question if it could really be nothing or if I am embarrassed. Then I show its a dumb push notification from an app and nothing important. 4. The curved screen is awful. Its nearly impossible to hold this phone without a part of you hand accidentally touching the screen. The curved screen serves no purpose at all from what I can tell. It displays no information and goes black when playing videos. Its a design flaw and a complete mistake by Samsung. 5. The phone gives me warnings all the time. Whenever I wake the phone up it gives me a warning that never stops. Every time I have to say ok to some ridiculous warning like it got woken up too violently and didn't like it. Its very annoying. 6. The wake up screen button and volume buttons are right across from each other. The most natural way to wake up the phone is to hold it with one hand and brace one side while pushing the button on the other. Because you brace against the volume button and the wake up button you accidentally push both all the time. When you do that the phone does nothing. Oh and don't hit the worthless bixby button. Seriously that thing is a complete waste. Look I'm not an I phone guy or with any other company. I don't care what you buy, but I am trying to save you from making the same mistake as me. I had an LG phone before this and it was good besides the time it died, but they replaced it. Don't buy this phone and save yourself. Don't be fooled by the endless positive reviews. This is not a good phone and I have to find a way to get out of it now. Save yourself!

    Good Pictures but terrible battery

Picked up the phone on release date. A couple complaints. Best Buy didn't have enough screen protectors or cases for the stock they had. Desk help was great getting our upgrades done and transfers. Pictures look awesome and video quality is great. Stereo speakers and headphones are very nice. A couple bad parts about this phone so far is the battery and getting used to the curved edge. My note 5 lasted longer then this does. I barely use the phone during a 12 hour shift and get home with a 20% battery and that is on power save mode. You have to make sure to take a charger with you everywhere. If anyone has tips or good apps to help battery life comment and let me know.

Turns out waterproof Samsungs are plagued by a known issue whereby the moisture sensor present in the charging port activates falsely or does not turn off. Apparently this goes all the way back to the S7 and still is widely reported for the 9 series. The only way to fix this issue is to get your hands on a box and some bubble wrap, mail your phone in to Samsung, and wait three weeks without a phone from the moment you send it out. If you have a backup device (like I do) you may find yourself being content with just sticking with the backup and enjoying life. When it was working, I have to be honest - as a tech savvy former iphone user this phone felt like everything i did was a battle. I knew what i was doing but the phone seemed to have a mind of its own, trying to prevent me from achieving my task. Lots of little tedious oversights that add up to a major annoyance, such as needing to swipe to be presented with a passcode, tempermental interactions with non-samsung brand SD cards, etc... Good looking phone and i was hoping i could leave apple forever but it appears the one advantage i didnt quantify was the OS reliability and now, most importantly, in-person live support winning out over a 21 day mail-in service cycle. Heed this warning.

Paid Full Price for a non working phone

This isn't really a problem caused by Best Buy and I didn't notice my problem until after their 14 day return policy. However I still paid over $700 for an S9+ during the last week of June and the phone didn't even make it a month. I bought a case and screen protector with the phone. This phone hasn't lived a rough life but it is still broken. The rear wide angle camera will no longer focus. I contacted Samsung and performed all of their troubleshooting steps. I additionally tried to solve the phone myself. I work as a systems administrator and trouble shoot technology all day. No matter what we tried we couldn't fix the issue. I now am left with the option of having a 3rd party fix my phone or sending it away for 2 weeks while Samsung looks at my phone. Either way I feel like I will end up with a refurbished phone in a couple weeks and my biggest problem is... "I didn't pay so this much for a refurbished phone. I paid for a working phone with a camera!"

    Big Disappointment

I loved this phone at first. Then all of a sudden all my texts were ‘failing’ if there was a picture or an emoji in the text. After hours on the phone with Verizon tech support, it turns out it’s a Samsung issue with the Samsung 9’s. It’s been this way for exactly a month today and there doesn’t seem to be any solution soon. Don’t buy!
