Previously I had the S7 and really liked that phone but it was getting slower and aged, so I decided to upgrade. I was leaning towards the S8 but noticed Best Buy had a special on Verizon upgrades. When I went to the store and found out the S9+ was cheaper than the S8 at Verizon this was a no brainer.
