No big deal
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Kinda nice, but not easy to use or put on. Made my wrist itch. Lost it the 3rd time I wore it. Guess it just fell off.

Good in theory
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this model because I didn't want a large watch face, but wanted the step counter and heart rate tracker. The first one I bought had hardware problems and bb even exchanged it for another one. The second one worked well for a couple of days and then began having issues as well. Since I had the warranty, I upgraded to s3 classic and have been pleased with it's performabce.

Got this free with phone purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall I would say it's okay. I haven't used it for much. Sometimes it registers a treadmill as an exercise bike.

Thought it would work for my husband
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought it for husband, after a few days it quit working. Came back and bought another. again, after a few days quit tracking. Was told by store associates to talk to the Samsung guy in the store. In all honestly, you really need a new Samsung guy. Basically looked at it, didn't check anything, then blankly told me he didn't know any thing. Very, very disappointed.

GPS Has Issues
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This had the potential to be a great fitness tracker but the GPS does not function consistently. It will not activate/lock-on and requires a reset to get working again. I had mine sent in for repair under warranty but it came back still having issues. This is a known issue and there are several forums complaining about this issue but no permanent solution to resolve as of Jan 2017. The other issue is that the heart rate monitor only takes your heart rate every once in awhile. This is likely to save on battery life but you cannot consistently measure your heart rate like other name brand devices (like Garmin). That might not be a big deal to some but it was a key feature that I was looking for that wasn't noted clearly before I purchased. It seems to take a pulse check every 15-20 minutes when active and even longer intervals when at rest. It does stay on when you active a running workout session during the workout when GPS is working though. You have to turn in on though to do this. It's not automatic. Deal breaker for me.

Best Fitness Band
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is long overdue as I have used the Gear Fit2 now for well over a month courtesy of #insidersgearfit2. I can honestly say this is probably the best fitness band I have ever used. The first thing to get this gadget to work is to download the Samsung Gear app and pair your Fit2 to your phone. The second is to charge it up (it comes partially charged) and off you go. The Fit 2 is a great device but as I have done in many of my reviews I want to break it down into five sections: Fit and comfort: I have done just about everything with the Fit2 on and it is very comfortable. The band is soft and easy to put on. I have small wrists and have the large Fit2 which still fits comfortable and snug. The one gripe I have about the band is the way it latches or is secured. There were several times where the band just fell off. I’m not sure if it was user error but why did Samsung not go with a standard buckle? To fix this problem, I purchased a pack of security clasps for $7 at Amazon. Since then, my Fit2 has never fallen off. My advice is to invest the $7 on these claps so you don’t lose your Fit2. Battery Life & Display: The battery lasts for 3 if not 4 days. Battery life is dependent on notifications as well as display brightness, use of HR monitor, etc. but I found the battery life to be very acceptable. The Fit2 came with a proprietary charging dock that is charged via USB. The big question is why did Samsung not include a charging brick? The display is very bright and text is easy to read. You may read online that the screen is somewhat small but keep in mind, this is not a smartwatch. This is a fitness band so the display is not supposed to be big. With that said, reading long text messages isn’t the greatest. Again, this is a fitness band and being able to read your text messages is a bonus in my opinion. Ease of Use: Simple…pair this to your phone and exercise. The newest software update added auto detect for your workouts so you don’t really need to even start the exercise app. I used this on an elliptical machine and sure enough, it auto started the exercise and categorized it to me using an elliptical machine. I have even used this stand alone and the GPS accurately mapped my run as well as accurately gave me my distance. My absolute favorite thing about the Fit2 is the ability to download music to the fitness band using the Samsung Gear app, pairing it to the Gear IconX (courtesy of #insidersgeariconx) and then exercising. I can listen to my music using my Fit2 and my Gear IconX, leave my phone at home and enjoy my workout free from phone calls or texts. As it relates to notifications, you can get notified on any or all of your apps. All that is required is to go into the Samsung Gear app, click on notifications, then on manage notifications. From there you can select which app you would like to receive notifications from. There are two buttons on the watch, one getting into the apps and the other is a back button. Both work well and have a nice click to them. The touch screen responds well to touch and I haven’t had any issues. What I don’t like is the lack of widgets to pick from. Why didn’t Samsung add a stopwatch or alarm widget? I would bet that a majority of the users of this device use the apps quite a bit and could use the widget. Other than the widgets I can say that the Gear Fit2 is very easy and fun to use. Apps: The Fit2 comes preloaded with several apps. Some I never used (water and caffeine intake) as I had no need for those. But my favorite app other than the exercise app is the find my phone app. Simply press on the find my phone app and it will make your phone ring. This can also be done if you misplace your Fit2. Keep in mind, the phone has to be connected to the Fit2 via Bluetooth for this to work. You can also go to the app store with the Fit2 and literally download any of the 1000’s of watch faces to customize the Fit2 and yes some of them are free. I downloaded a few and they really make your Fit2 stand out. There are several other apps you can also download including Spotify, Alarm, Golf Navi, etc. but yes, there are more apps for the Gear S2 and S3. Again, this is a fitness band not a smartwatch. So I expected there to be much less options for apps. Fitness & General use: I have used the Fit2 to exercise and for the most part, it does a nice job tracking my steps and exercise. What it doesn’t do well and really not at all is auto detect me lifting weights. I have done plenty of workouts (bench press, squats, shoulder press, etc) and it has never picked up that I was exercising other than counting my steps. The Fit2 DOES identify any and all cardio exercise…which is what most people primarily will use it for. As I stated above, the GPS works really well in that it knows where I ran and how far very accurately. The HR monitor works fairly well when exercising as I have compared to a standard chest strap. The unit will even alert you if you are sitting too long which helps motivate you to exercise. The unit will also track your sleep to see if you are sleeping efficiently. I think this is a gimmick but it does a nice job summarizing your sleep time. It is very accurate on when you go to sleep and wake up. Overall, it works well for tracking cardio type exercise. Summary: Overall, I really like the Gear Fit2, I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for that perfect fitness band and would give it 4.5 stars. The fit and comfort of the Fit2 is great and the battery last for several days before needing to be recharged. It is easy to use and makes tracking exercise easy. My favorite thing about the Fit2 is the ability to download music to the Fit2 and pair to my Gear IconX for my workouts. This gives your freedom from your phone while you work out and without wires! The Fit2 has 4GB of free space which is plenty of music even for a gym rat. The only recommendations I would make to Samsung is to use a band with a standard buckle, include a charging brick and allow there to be more options for widgets like stopwatch or alarm.
