    Excellent Earbuds for Short Activities

I've had these earbuds for a few weeks now and overall am very happy. They are super comfortable. They never feel like they are going to fall out, which is a common issue for me with earbuds. The sound quality is pretty great as well. Granted I'm no audiophile but they sound at least as good as any other earbud I've ever used. The tap/touch controls work very well. It's nice that you can input commands on either earbud. I really like the ambient sound mode. It will pass through outside sound so that you aren't completely cut off from your environment. It's especially nice when I know I'm going to be interacting with people so I don't have to take them out. I don't use the onboard storage much but it's easy enough to set them up on your PC and load music onto them. The buds also come with a charging case that you dock them in to charge but also serves as a portable charging solution to give them extra legs. As far as negatives go, I really only have two. They don't bother me much but YMMV. One is the battery life - it's just too short. I can get around 3 hours of them which is plenty for a gym session or pretty much anything really. I've had them die on me but the times I need them for longer than that are few and far between. The other problem I have is with outdoors connections. Every time I've used them outdoors the sounds constantly breaks up and the track skips around very bad. It's effectively unusable. For me it's not really an issue because I don't spend any significant amount of time using them outdoors. Again, very happy with these earbuds overall. The pros far outweigh the cons for my usecase. If you spend long periods outdoors these are probably not for you but otherwise they're pretty great.

    Not quite there

I was very optimistic about the IconX ear buds when I was asked to review them. I received them, charged them up, linked up with my Samsung Galaxy S7 and started streaming music to them as I worked in my yard. It was difficult to keep these earbuds in my ears so I switched out the rubber cups and loop that holds them into my ears. They still did not fit snugly in my ears and I have to adjust them often and sometimes catch them when they fall out. It would have been nice if Samsung had provided the ability to attach a leash onto the ear buds so that a loose earbud does not get lost or damaged with a fall. Because the IconX have touch sensitive controls on the ear buds I have to be careful when adjusting them to not accidentally switch the music or functionality or touch the heart rate sensor. On to sound quality, the sound quality is not as good as I expected and the volume is a bit low even at full on. I can get 1 ½ - 2 hours of play time before they need to be charged. Charging occurs in a pill shaped case that has a battery so that the earbuds can charge away from the power source. One of the earbuds goes to green while charging but the other one blinks red. The earbuds still both charge and I cannot understand the reason for the blinking red indicator. The earbuds however run down the power while in the case so the case still needs to be charged often. The earbuds each have 4 GB of storage so that music can be copied onto them through a USB connection to a computer. I have found the ambient sounds feature to be useful when it is not winds. If it is windy it sounds like wind across a microphone. I did not test the workout mode because I have a fitness band on my wrist and it is easier to use. The bottom-line for me is that I cannot justify the premium price for these earbuds when my much less expensive Bluetooth headphones are more comfortable, sound better, and last longer on a charge. I will be returning these earbuds.

I bought this because I loved the idea of not having to carry my phone when I rode my bike, went running, or was out cutting grass. Well these worked great for 1 out of 3, only becasue I can't run longer than an hour. The sound is pretty good, and even liked how they fit in my ear. They actually stayed in place well when running. My only gripe, which was pretty major for me, was the battery life. It says they last for 2+ hours which would have been ok since most of my bike rides are about 2 hours and it takes me about 2 hours to knock out my lawn. These would only last for about an hour. Also, the case claims they will charge the headphones 2 times but I was never able to get more than 1 charge out of them. I was really excited for these and wanted them to work so bad, too bad the battery life isn't there yet. With a sad face I have returned these.

I just purchased these head phones this pass week, I was looking at these when I seen them on a Best Buy ad. I wanted them for one reason the compatibility to work with my S7, and the S2 classic. I wasn't sure how I would like the sound due to how small they are and I have a pair of Beats head phones but they are all wired. I wanted to get something that wasn't wired, tired of the wire bouncing while I'm running, or feels like the ear buds are going to come out if I have it tucked in my shirt, or the wire snags on my hand and there goes the earbud. well with these you don't have that problem and they have a great fit. They come with extra sizes for your ears. the music volume I would have liked it to go louder but the sound is great and clear. The price is fair not a great deal but I have paid that much for my beats and bose head phones. I'm very happy with this purchase I think Samsung hit it on the head with these and I hate to say it but they do pair up to your Ipod. You don't need to have your phone or anything else as these to have memory to store music. I don't know what else to say about this product but go get them I'm very impressed with them.

    Pretty awesome for working out!

You'll notice that I gave the IconX a 5 star rating. Please let me explain why! If you're motivated by the way this product is marketed I think you will agree with that rating. However If you have expectations beyond that you may be a little disappointed. These earbuds are marketed to the crowd that works out regularly and would like to use them without wires interfering in their movement. That could be running, lifting or cycling. Believe me, cycling without the extra wires is wonderful, especially when you have a helmet and glasses on already. It's just one less complication getting in the way and in my opinion the ambient sound feature is mandatory while riding a bike on city streets. It's true that the charge only last an hour and a half to an hour and forty five minutes if you're streaming but streaming is only one way to enjoy music during your work out. For most of us an hour and a half of strenuous workout is enough but for those that spend more time in the gym you can download your tunes into the buds and use them without the phone, extending the power to about three hours. Wouldn't it be nice if they lasted two weeks playing them 24/7? I'm sure Tesla owners wish they could drive 2,000 miles on one charge too! In today's reality, if you want small, completely wireless earbuds there are some compromises that have to be made and I think Samsung has done a great job creating a product that fits the marketing. When I opened the box I was impressed with the quality and look. They feel well made and look classy. You don't look like Frankenstein's twin brother with the bolts coming out of your ears instead of your neck! The fit is obviously going to be different for every individual but for me I was able to get a very good fit in the beginning which has turned out to be a great fit after time. What I mean is that I wanted a good sound so I made sure the fit was a bit snug and bothered me just a little at first. After a couple of weeks the fit is comfortable. I assume that my ears have gotten used to them because they feel very comfortable now. Also, it never feels like it's going to fall out. They stay in the ears nicely during my workouts. One note, if Samsung is watching, the inclusion of foam tips would not only give better fit to more people but it would also provide awesome bass response with a fit less snug. I know this because I put foam tips on mine as a trial. Even though the tips didn't fit the earbuds perfectly it allowed me the opportunity to test them with foam tips. Sound quality is as good as any earbud I've used with proper fit and I have used many earbuds. Remember however, that they have been marketed for listening to music while working out. If your intention is to watch video you will be disappointed. There's a lag between video and audio. I tried this on my Samsung 7 and my Surface. If I was watching a Facebook Live I had no problem but a video file or Youtube created an unacceptable lag. Again, this is not how they have been marketed. I don't think these will replace general purpose or High Fidelity headphones. But if you want truly wireless sound while working out I doubt you'll find anything better. I saw a complaint where someone said that you can't select artists or individual songs if you're playing music just from the earbud and not streaming. Seriously! Just stream it from your phone and live with an hour and a half or create a playlist of your favorite songs to workout with and let it randomly select. You can load about 1,000 songs on the internal storage that will keep new and entertaining music going for three hours. If you'd rather hear the same 30-40 songs then only put that many in the earbuds memory. The heart rate monitor seemed pretty accurate but again this is coming from earbuds that don't require you to wear a watch or a strap around your chest. I think it's plenty accurate to make comparisons from workout to workout. In my case, it was almost spot on but everyone's ears are different and I've read that others have had poor readings. The sync from left to right ear sounds perfect. I know that's a problem that many manufactures have had but not with these. Good job Samsung! Another important fact is, I'm using these with a Samsung Galaxy7 phone and I had zero connectivity issues. I can't comment on using them with any other device. There is one complaint! In ambient sound mode with the volume turned down the buds create a little white noise. This may be necessary to amplify the ambient sound to the earbuds or it may be something that can be fixed with an update but if you listen to your music at a moderate level it's not noticeable. I only use ambient sound while biking so you may never deal with that. All in all I was impressed with these earbuds! I'm sure there will be many more coming to market. Some very cheap, some with connectivity issues and some that make you look like a dork (I think there are some white ones coming out soon called earpods). But today, I don't think there are any better truly wireless earbuds on the market if your needs are how they have been marketed!

Very Cool and High Quality...has opportunities

Very high quality and super COOL! I found the wireless Bluetooth to be easy to use and very functional. The sound quality, ambient sound function and phone call answer/quality to be outstanding. The fitness tracker and battery life were the only opportunities. The fitness tracker did not work well during workouts that were more involved than simple jogs etc and lost connection with the phone (during jumping jacks for example). The only other opportunity area was battery life. For workouts lasting less than 90 minutes it works great. But for outdoor activities such as yard work etc where the duration of the activity was 2+ hours I had to have a back-up earbud solution. I did not take advantage of the mp3 player functionality as I think that has become less and less needed with phone and streaming services. Overall I would recommend in terms of quality and cool factor but be aware of the possible limitations with more aggressive workouts and battery life.
