Does more than the Apple Watch ever will
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Why buy this over an Apple Watch? 1) THIS IS ALSO A PHONE. You don't need to be tethered to your Samsung phone to use it (yes, just like Dick Tracy). You want to run to the store and leave your phone at home? You can..because you have a phone on your wrist. It's a separate line on your phone bill (mine is $10/mo.). The Apple Watch will only make/receive calls while you have your phone in range via Bluetooth, which is just dumb. 2) IT HAS A BIGGER SCREEN THAN APPLE'S WATCH 3) IT HAS A CURVED SCREEN, UNLIKE APPLE'S WATCH. I've found while sending texts, checking news, weather, etc...that the curved screen is extremely natural. It feels almost organic on my wrist. To me, flat screens are for phones and tablets that you physically hold. Since you're wearing this, the curved screen makes far more sense. 4) IT'S NOT APPLE. I love their computers. iPads are okay - but I broke away from the Apple farm, and have switched all my mobile devices to Samsung. Far more intuitive, customizable, and this watch is no different. Since it's not Apple, it COSTS LESS than the Apple Watch will be. You're also not locked into "Apple Pay" (just wait until the watches start getting hacked). While you can use the Google Pay or whatever it's called on your watch, i don't. Personal preference. But it is available. Bottom line: these have been out longer, will do more than Apple's watch, and are a better overall deal. I was unsure when I bought this initially - because I hadn't worn a watch in over 10 years. Now, the only time I take it off is to charge it.

I like it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using my Gear S for about 2 weeks now. Good investment. The 2 year contract and price drop made it worth it. I have the Note 4 with ATT using the data plan connection also. It doesn't have any useful apps for me that I use which was a disappointment. However, there is an app called Opera Mini you can download that will give you a browser and even access to FB mobile and other sites. You tube gives you an error message. I haven't used the GPS yet. I have used the fitness app which alerts you if you are stable/heart rate/walking. I don't know the accuracy of the walking as others have attested to but for me it is a good measurement. If you want the watch to act on it's own you have to keep the mobile Networks constantly on. Too early to tell how much data it is using by changing this setting. We still have a lot of GB left and the battery is not depleting either. Not sure what this does leaving it on constantly. However, by turning it to always on/off my callers would go straight to voicemail if they called the watch telephone number directly. If they call my cell phone (while it is paired) the watch would ring. If they are not paired the watch would act on it's own and not go to voicemail. The Bluetooth in my car does pick up the watch immediately and when I release the call also from the watch my music comes right back on. I can control my telephones music from the watch. I can also download songs from my phone to the watch. Speaker volume is good and if the room is fairly quiet I don't have to have it by my mouth. I wish it came with more instructions as I learned a lot from You Tube. It is was a challenge for me in the beginning to get the battery on. I would recommend have the store associate do this with you a few times before leaving. The glass seems durable as it is Gorilla Glass but I am going to get a protective cover for peace of mind. I have small wrists and it fits perfectly fine. Has some weight to it but it is expected. No camera but that doesn't bother me as I have too many as it is. Still nervous about leaving my phone at home out of habit. It's really too small for me to type on. Nice to just read in case it is an important message to react to and check the voicemail but I cannot accurately type on it. I can now leave my phone tucked in my purse without having to check for it every 5 seconds. If I am not connected the watch alerts me. I have noticed a reduction in my cell phone battery life however. By evening time it is at 30% and I was usually sitting at 70% still with my activity at supper time. When I first became interested in a watch I really thought it would be the same concept as the Ipad is to the IPhone. Smaller screen but does the same thing. Not having a lot of apps is a big con for me and why I give it 4 starts. Please develop more apps and a keyboard that would be user friendly.

Here's an honest look to future !!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all let me start by saying to those Gadget Geeks like myself that this watch looks great, feels great and it's fun to own.... BUT ; as every new product it has some bugs at the current initial version at the market. Hopefully soon they will fix that via updates. Bluetooth works flawlessly. Making and receiving call functions are unexpectedly crystal clear at both end. It's lithe speaker miraculously is loud enough to be heard at most environments we all find ourselves during our daily activities like in a car, in a bus, on a boat, at a coffee shop, at grocery store, at the airport and so on... It is a great option to those of us living in a state where having a phone on hand while driving is not permitted. When call comes in, you don't have to dig in to your pockets to get your phone out. A simple swipe on your wrist and VOILA! Also lately most of the phones I realized getting bigger and bigger. Some of them are nearly as same size as a mini tablet. Well in my opinion it looks ridiculous when I see someone holding a mini tablet to their ear and talking. It pairs great with any bluetooth earpiece if you're looking a private conversation. Of course since it has its own SIM Card, in case if you drop your phone or lost or forgot you can always setup as an independent standalone phone by few clicks and again VOILA, you are back to the civilization. For example you left your phone on the counter at Starbucks and you realized after driving few miles. Get on your watch phone immediately let the baristas be aware of the situation. Pedometer and Heart Rate monitors are not 100% accurate at the moment But many other functions work great, including, text messages, emails, scheduling events, calendar, weather, navigation, photo gallery, Alarm, Find my device function, S Voice command and as a BIG plus :BREAKING NEWS on your wrist is as cool as it gets!

The greatest smartwatch ever.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this watch, not only is it compatible to the Samsung 3, 4, 5 and 6, it is a excellent bluetooth and the sound is crystal clear. The staff at bestbuy did a excellent job getting and having my Samsung gear s ready for pick-up. I would recommend the Samsung gear S to everyone and when purchasing please go to bestbuy, the staff is the best. 5 stars plus for the watch and the staff at bestbuy.

Keeps me closer to my wife at work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I work long hours in the operating room. My hands are covered with gloves; it is troublesome to handle my phone. So, my wife had stopped calling or texting me unless emergent. Now, Gear S helps me better in touch with my wife since I can answer back almost immediately. I place a thin and clear dressing tape (like food wrap) daily over the screen for sanitation; I have no problem navigating the screen with my gloves on. Silent vibration on my wrist leads me to quickly glance at my watch for the incoming text or email. it is much less distracting to others. With the voice commands I can answer or make phone calls and send texts. I can ask S voice for searching for various information. However, the conversation is not private unless you use a wireless bluetooth ear/headphone. I didn't activate an additional phone line for Gear S. I use only bluetooth connection to my phone in the bag. If your work place has a pervasive WiFi signal, then you don't need to keep your phone nearby for bluetooth connection. Your phone and the Gear S can maintain connection via the Wifi network. The battery is good for a full busy day, but needs to charge every night. The charger is a clip-on battery that connects to a micro USB cable. You can carry the charger as a backup battery if you need more than a day away from home. It is difficult to type on the micro-keyboard; you are better off using the voice command.

I love that i can make a call with it in my car and i dont even need my phone. I no longer worry about accidently leaving my phone behind because i dont miss any calls, texts, emails or anything with this watch.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best smart watch out there. Had it a few weeks, no crashes or slow downs. Great picture quality wrap around screen design makes it easily visible and speaker call quality is on par with phones. Wish it had a better os but it is expected to be less as technology is not quite there yet. Great contract price.

Very nice
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Luv it luv it luv it. I was going to get the gear 2 but when I heard gear s was coming I waited. I was really excited just for the one main fact that it's a standalone device. I kept checking the features and some details about it before it came out. I was kinda worried about the size till I put it on my wrist. I don't know why people get mad if the one they bought was defective out the box. It's a gadget it happens and if it those that make it a bad device. I just keep living it everyday. The battery is really not that bad. It last me the whole day with a stand by screen. I do that cause I don't like the screen totally off.

Awesome!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This watch is awesome as a standalone phone or companion device. You get access to navigation, SMS text messaging, email, web browsing via Opera Mini browser and so much more. The 2" S AMOLED screen looks amazing. It really is a serious powerhouse.

yeah, so I'm a geek..love it!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: lots of landscape, tons of useful apps, easy navigation, customizable, s voice works great, has a keyboard or you can use fleksy, performance and functionality much better than the gear and gear 2. Yes, i had them both! Cons: 2 stage wake up. Only 2 stock watch faces display on stage one of wake up. All others show a plain digital time until you tap to fully wake it up. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a neat watchface. Hopefully that will change with software updates. Limited accessories...well, none really! You can buy an extra charging cradle on Sammys site but no watch bands yet. Swarovski was touted to be producing bands for this, but nothing more on that since September fodder. Sammy UK recently released differnt colored bands and black and white bangle style bands. Best i can tell is they are uniform in width rather than slightly tapering. But, they are still very plain jane rubbery bands. Standard bands don't fit because the face pops out. Requires an added phone line to your plan to be a standalone device. So that will cost anywhere from 5-15 a month more. Carriers are forcing an added line and activation fee, but you can cancel it anytime. Very expensive! But, tech is my hobby so i justified it :-) Its BIG. I'm female and while its a big watch, its doable. I just wear lots of bracelets to girl it up a little bit. No one points and laughs at me...that i know of!

Beautiful Screen but Android Wear is easier
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had android wear since the first one came out and I've also had all the samsung watches and I definitely prefer the android wear watches more due to the fact they are easier and you arent limited to just using certain apps like the samsung watch. samsung watch works really well with samsung watches and thats about it. android wear works well with every app!

Awesome Little Device!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this little watch. I was leery of the ability to text with it initially, but after using it, I found it to be very intuitive. The features, speed and comfort are great. Could stand for the charger to be built into the watch, but having the external charger that can operate wirelessly is great all the same.

It's the new game changer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its a great tool. I feel this has created a benchmark for the future -which will be ruled by Smart Watches. I can talk with this keeping my phone 4 rooms away- the other caller cant even find any difference in the call quality. I get all my Notifications at my finger tips- Messaging , Whats App, Gmail, Yahoo mail. S voice has been spot on. The watch interfaces are really cool.

Apple may have lost this round.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just got it today and fell in love with it right away. I did a video of me unboxing it and giving my first impressions of the device as well as many other points. Here is the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxPMmHabW70&feature=youtu.be I am challenging my self to strictly only use the Gear S as my primary communications device for 1 week straight. I will leave my phone at home and attempt to just use the watch. I should be able to give a much better review afterwards so look out :).
