Cannot use this item if you purchase an unlocked phone. I bought s8+ from best buy so I could also get vr gear...not one employee was aware of this. So if you plan on getting vr gear, if your phone was unlocked, it will never work. I found out from oculus themselves

Oh please save your money. Can not focus, Samsung says it's my eyes and want to charge me $35.00 restocking fee for a $100.00 item, I'll give it away first. Save your money and don't buy it.

Fun While It Lasts

Bought this thinking it would be fun, and it truly is. However, that fun lasts only about 30 minutes, and you get a warning that the VR or your phone is overheating and needs time off to cool down. It also eats battery life of your phone like crazy. You could charge the phone while your playing, but who wants to be tethered to a shot charger cable. Plus that only adds to the overheating. My phone has never been so hot. Plus I can't seem to play games from say Google Play now that I have loaded the Oculus program. Oculus has plenty of free stuff, but you quickly move thru that unless you want to pay-to-play.
The setup was not easy, I keep trying to put in my phone and ti just would not plug in. Finally I figured out it was protective case was too thick and I had to remove it. SO now no protection for my phone as the case it tough to put on/take off.
So I am going to return this device in the morning.

Switched from apple to samsung just to get one of these VR's. This is the coolest thing I've ever owned. There's an app that lets you watch NBA in VR.. a must do for a fan. Another app lets you travel the world as if you're standing right there! Amazing.

i received this for free because of the promotion from Samsung S8.Thank god i did not pay for it.I know there are people out there that really like it although i guess they must know more about it than me.I will say it is pretty cool only if you are on a roller coaster or maybe doing some flying video but that is were the coolness stops.First thing you have to do is take your phone out of the case if you have one.I have an otter box so that is not the easiest thing. After that you have to fumble around trying to get the phone mounted to the headset.Make sure you put your headphones in the jack first because if you try to put them in after the phone is in place it will pop out and you will probably drop it.Now if you want to play a game using the controller which i dont know of any game you just look around on but you have to sync the controller to your phone. Not to hard right well it isn't unless you forget to turn on your blue tooth. If you did you will have to take the phone back out and turn it on.Now you all set got the controller all hooked up your in a shooting game and for whatever reason the controller is gradually getting more off of where you really want to point and shoot. Before long your pointing left to shoot straight in front of you.Now there is a somewhat of a fix to this you go into your settings and realign or something tell you the truth it just finally got so aggravating that i took the head set off put my phone back in the otter box came over to my PC and am writing this review. Now this is not my first time putting the oculas on probably the 5th and i have built my own gaming PC and i am having trouble with it.Also if you think well i could lay on the couch or bed and watch a movie from netflix or something like that .Sorry, you have to be sitting up because of the way the screen orients itself. This is another thing i tried to figure out to no avail.maybe you can i dont know but i could not get the viewing screen to fix itself to the headset so if you turned your head the viewing screen stays directly in front. So watching a movie would be very hard to watch unless you keep your head straight and upright. Finally dont waste your money

One of the reasons I upgraded to the Galaxy S8 was we got this for free. It looked when I unboxed it till I put it on . The image quality was as bad or worse as a old VHS movie. you se every pixel on the phone screen . The sad thing is I have used VR before and the stuff in the 90s looks better.

Network Errors with Gear VR with Unlocked S8

Cannot make S8/8+ Unlocked work with Gear VR. Always "Network Errors". Tons of people are complaining about it on Samsung's community website, but Samsung does not try to fix it. Not to mention Oculus does not give a d@mn at all. Avoid this brand.
