Very Pleased
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only thing I con is that it would randomly disconnect from the tv for the first year, but then I read online If you move the router as far away as possible that would help. It did! We have had no issues since then. Sound quality is wonderful, really does bounce off cooking and walls to surround you almost 3 yrs and still very happy

A beast of a soundbar!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best sound bar I've ever heard. It's hard to call something with this many speakers and this loud a sound bar but I guess it is. After several adjustments during set up The Q80R is impressive. And does not have rear speakers but so much power and clarity that you forget about it not being true surround set up. No real booming bass but enough to work. The Q80R is more quality than quantity. The construction is high quality. I am not a fan of the fabric wrapped soundbars. This is metal and feels extremely well built. This set up is perfect for movies, sports, and Bluetoothing music. The Q80R is the best I've heard ever without buying a full wired surround sound system. You will not be disappointed.

Perfect Sound setup for my apartment
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been going back in forth for a long time trying to figure out what I was going get for my sound system. I live in a good size apartment, and I have a good spot where the apartment behind me and above me are demo apartments, Leaving only one neighbor on the other side. Even still, I don't have a ton a space, and I didn't want to over buy, with some enormous 7.1 setup that I won't be able to fully utilize. This filled that niche perfectly. It's still almost to loud for my apartment, but i get amazing, sound that still sounds like surround sound, and a bass that still thumps my chest. It's great for music, movies, and gaming. I love it.

Great Sound Bar
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This sound bar is great. I’m not very techie so if this review doesn’t help I am sorry. I am able to play music from my phone with it, it sometimes almost seems like it can throw sounds in the room and this has startled me a couple of times. I normally have cheap surround sound systems, however, this time I opted for just the bar and sometimes I don’t even notice I don’t have back speakers. I believe you can purchase them separate and connect them too, I just don’t feel like it is necessary. Overall this bar was a bit pricy, however I’m glad I decided to spend the extra money and get a good sound bar.

The dolby atmos soundbar I’ve been waiting for
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Hwn-q80r soundbar is Samsung’s replacement for last years Hwn-850. Last years copy was a disaster. The ARC just didnt work. I found a workaround by simple plugging the bar into anyother hdmi channel. But, Atmos would work and then stop working. Samsung send out a usb update ( we’re talking old tech here),. When installed it crashed the bar. I tried 4 copy’s of the n850 and gave up. I kept trying because the sound is incredible. Now, for thevq80r. I plugged in the ARC hdmi channel from tv into the ARC channel on the bar it recognized it and locked on immediately. I have a 65” QLED tv so that was helpful. But will work on any tv with ARC. I plugged the Apple TV 4K into the hdmi1 channel on the bar. And switched the bar to hdmi channel 1 using the remote. ( on Samsung’s tvs you must switch to soundbar speakers), I opened a movie on Netflix with Dolby atmos sound and wow! It completely immerses my room. Amazing sound. This is something you truly have to hear to believe it. I picked up a pair of matching rear surround speakers and the system-was complete. Buy the rear speakers with the bar. It increases the system to 7.1.2 and to gets the complete effect. you really should get them. This is a great sounding bar , but an amazing Dolby atmos bar. Not a single issue as of 1 week into using the bar. Oh, install the Samsung app. It’s used for updates and some controls of the soundbar. Ill add an update to my post if things change, but as a retired person I watch tv 13 hours a day, and haven’t found anything yet. This is a definite buy.

Awesome Sound System! When done right!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got the Samsung Q80 sound bar to go along with our Q80 QLED TV... and it is awesome! Tried the Q60 sound bar and took it back after 10 minutes, just didn't have the quality we were looking for since we had dropped a mint on the Q80 TV. Got the Q80 sound system with the 9000 series surround speakers and the sound is right there with the image quality of the TV! The system sounds great even when just watching the news which is only in stereo. When a show comes on that is in ATMOS or surround, this system really comes to life! Got a great TV... get great sound to match!

The Search is Over!
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound you have been searching for your whole life is over. Prepare yourself for an amazing audio experience. The sound quality is amazing and the sub absolutely kicks. It will shake the house. Tune in to your favorite movie or connect it to your phone via Bluetooth, select your fav tune and get ready for the cops to show up and serve you with a noise complaint. But when they get there, they will tear it up, crack open a beer and rock out with you. Simply amazing. You will not regret this purchase.

Great for average consumer, not for audiophiles
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this as an attempt to simplify and de clutter my current audio/entertainment system. Being a long time fan of Harmon/Kardan, and owning a Samsung tv and knowing the quality, I took a chance. A very expensive chance. The soundbar and subwoofer were amazingly easy to setup and connect using an HDMI through the ARC connections and the subwoofer connected through Bluetooth with me even having to try. The sound quality blew my mind, coming from such a small unit. Left and right channels sang through and projected around the room very well. The Atmos speakers really helped to fill the overhead void of sound and put you in the middle of what you were watching. The sound was clear and crisp even at max volume! ...which is where the volume stayed. Anything less was simply not enough and I felt that realistically, it was well underpowered. I eventually setup the soundbar AND my existing H/K 5.1 setup so that I could switch back and forth to compare sound output and clarity. I came to realize that my existing setup (which includes full sized front tower speakers, not small bookshelf speakers) had a much more full sound compared to the soundbars tweeters. I found that the majority of the “loudness” came from the subwoofer of the soundbar system. Turning the subwoofer off and using only the soundbar, it was not much louder than the speakers on my Samsung 8000series tv. Overall, had I never experienced a traditional surround system with full range speakers, I would have loved the soundbar system. However, in comparison to what I currently use, I was not $1300 impressed with the soundbar and decided ultimately to return it. Not due to poor quality, but because the price of the system didn’t match my personal expectations and needs.

Wonderful room filling sound
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was purchased as a house warming gift to complete the entertainment setup in the living room. The 5 speakers in 1 sound bar at quite balanced even at high volume while watching a movie like top gun. The subwoofer kept up with the sound bar and delivered decent bass after I increased the volume with the remote. The sound bar paired well with the new Samsung TV we purchased earlier this summer for the same room. Overall we are quite satisfied.

Great for wireless surround speakers & simplicit
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great connectivity if you have Samsung tv’s. It is just a hassle to read the small screen for modes etc. They should have created one that has a larger display screen. Sound is great and compatible with wireless which is great for surround without having to see wires or destroy walls or ceilings. Can’t tell much about atmos as I don’t play it loud enough to tell a difference

So far, so good
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very undecided about sounders in general after having had a high-end surround system in my previous home. However, my wife says no way are we going to put those monster tower speakers and all the electronics in the living room. So, after tons of research and some time listening to various bars at BB, three models jumped out at me. The Samsung Q80, the Samsung Q90 and the Definitive Technology Studio Slim. My goals here were these: a) to have the best sound possible for both music and movies; b) to have all the latest video tech (Atmos, DTS-X, HD Audio pass-through) on board; c) a nice looking all-in-one package with wireless audio for any external speakers (sub) involved; and lastly, d) bullet-proof reliability and easy integration with my new TV. Early on, I eliminated the Def-Tech simply because it is a bit older and lacking in some of the newer tech that the Sammy's possessed. I was then torn between the Q80 and Q90 (with the extra rear up-firing speakers), but after reading a fair amount of horror stories about the Q90's rear speaker reliability problems, I decided the Q80 would best serve my needs. So far, I've been delighted! The Q80 is a really fine sounding bar especially in Surround mode while listening to 4K Dolby Atmos movies. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time yet to explore it's music capabilities although I recently downloaded the Spotify, Pandora and TIDAL music apps which are all on board the Samsung Q80 TV that plays so nicely with the Q80 soundbar. Hope this marriage continues! Perhaps some day, when Samsung gets the bugs worked out, I may upgrade to the Q90 or if I win the lottery, I'll be definitely be moving to the new $2500 Sennheiser Ambeo soundbar! He he he!

Absolutely amazing
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is a monster! I love it. If you have the extra money to get this system, do it and you won’t be disappointed. The sound quality is amazing and using Bluetooth is quite simple. If you love bass, this is the system for you. I once owned a Sony surround sound and 2 Bose, neither one is comparable to this system. Make sure you get the HK line.

Amazing Sound
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We looked at all the soundbars at BB and this one came recommended to us, it is well worth it. Just note that it is too big to mount on the wall with any traditional bracket, you can get or make a sleek shelf for it to go on but don't waste the holes in the wall to use a TV mount extension. It won't be sturdy enough. I recommend this the sound is amazing and works flawlessly with the Samsung TV.

Outstanding Sound!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ll keep this free of too much technical jargon, First off the bar sounds phenomenal! Lacks a bit of range without the rear speakers that the HW-Q90R Comes with but the side and top firing speakers really do it justice! Crisp, loud and clear Vocals, deep heavy bass, and immersive Dolby Atmos Sound. If you can swallow the price this is probably one of the Best Bars out there! I also own the Sony HT-Z9F and while both sounbars are top Tier. The Q80 is a bit more immersive with its true Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 setup. Pairs perfectly with my Q70 and Samsung 4K player, seamless one remote control, easy and fast setup and automatic detection when connected to my QLED. Just be mindful if you live in a small apartment because this bar can can be very very loud with heavy bass (which can be turned down). Perfect for room filling sound in a large room as well as small. The bar itself aside from how big and heavy it is looks amazing and has an extremely solid and high quality build. Also remember! If your ceilings are vaulted or slanted you will not get the full effect from the top firing speakers since Dolby Atmos requires flat ceilings to properly bounce the sound

Setup is a little complicated
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first one did not work at all. Worked with Samsung tech on phone to do a software reset which did not help. Was given a case number and told to return it for another. This one works and sounds great. Have been able to get sound using cable box and 4K player. The player is routed through sound bar but cable is routed to TV and sound goes to box using DTI. When I play smart apps I have to use TV speakers

GREAT sounding soundbar, but...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound is 5 stars, but HAD TO give it 3 stars because it not sync up perfectly when you see people talking on tv. I've tried using the wireless option and the HDMI option and have gotten the same results. If you're watching a movie, news or anything where the camera focuses on the person's face while talking then you will be highly disappointed! The words youre hearing are no where near matching up with the lip movement. I'm not sure if there will be a software update in the future to fix this annoyance, or if I'm just forced to live with it since I'm out of my return window. If you like bass with walls shaking then you will love this. The only thing that compares when it comes to bass is JBL. JBL is a great way of saving money, but you will not get anywhere near the quality of sound with the rest of the samsung Q80 soundbar. (Paired with 75" Samsung Q80 TV)

Exceptional Sound and Quality Build
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I truly have no regret buying this Soundbar, the sound is absolutely great, the subwoofer even better. The downside for me has been keeping it connected in the smart things app, done the dance with support, none of it helps. The soundbar shows it offline after about 10 minutes, support says it online on their side. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars for value.
