The sound bar was decent but the little speakers were so awful. I tried to re-set them up several times trying to figure out the issues. I’ll probably repurchase just the sound bar but this isn’t worth it.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung soundbar. We appreciate you sharing your feedback regarding the setup process of the SWA-8500S Wireless Rear Speakers included with your HW-A40R soundbar.
Use the color-coded speaker wires to connect the SWA-8500S rear speakers to its wireless module and place these three in the back of your room. Plug the wireless receiver module power cord into an electrical outlet and into the wireless receiver module to turn on the wireless receiver module.
Turn off your soundbar and press the Up button on the remote for 5 seconds. The ID SET message will appear on the soundbar for a short time and then disappear. After the ID SET process, the soundbar power is automatically turned on. The LINK LED indicator stops blinking and glows a solid blue when a connection is established between the soundbar and the wireless receiver module.
If the LED light is solid blue, the rear speakers are connected to your soundbar.
If the LED light is blinking blue, the module is in standby status:
• Check to see if your soundbar is turned on
• Turn off the soundbar by pressing the power button on the main soundbar unit. Configure "ID SET" using the soundbar's remote control, then turn the soundbar back on.
If the LED light is red, the connection attempt failed.
• Check to see if your soundbar is turned on
• Press the ID SET button on the back of the wireless receiver module with a pen tip for 5-6 seconds until the LED indicator blinks blue
To increase the volume of the rear speakers, please try this tip:
On the Right side of the main Soundbar, there is button that looks like a rectangle with an arrow in it. This is the Source button. To activate the rear speaker gain boost, first turn off the Soundbar, then press and hold the Source key for 7 seconds. Now when SURROUND mode is selected, the rear speaker’s volume level will be increased. To de-activate the rear speaker gain boost, repeat the procedure above.

Worst Speaker Ever

You can try manually optimizing your settings by selecting the Surround or Standard buttons to change the sound mode. Additionally, Press the BASS + or BASS - buttons to adjust the level of the woofer (bass) between -6 to +6.
With the latest firmware version installed (v.1014), press and hold the STANDARD button on the remote control for about 6 seconds then use the Bass Up/Down buttons to adjust the level of the rear speakers between -6 to +6.

I just needed something cheap that could put sound out vis opctic cable. Probably many ither choices out there. But again, you get what you pay for. So id give it a 5 goes it does its job for its price

What done people seem to have a problem with regarding the smaller speakers I doing have but I think it’s an issue with assuming the speakers world be as powerful as the sound bar itself. They are not powered speakers so their sound isn’t as strong or controllable. Best Father’s Day gift

Make sure that you are using a new Digital Optical Cable as this will provide the best audio and user experience for this soundbar. Additionally, update your firmware to make sure that it is on the latest software giving you he best experience possible.
You can download the firmware update from Samsung’s website by clicking “Support” in the top right corner. Then go to “Manuals & Software” > “TVs & Home Theater” > “Home Theater” > “Sound Bars”. From there, you can select the HW-A40R under A Series.

Some of my TV channels had very low sound and I was looking for a solution. This soundbar accomplished what I needed. I can regulate the sound much better now and the sound is very good. Set up was very easy.
