    It's not connecting/pairing to my Samsung Curved TV. I would love to give it a better rating if I can hear my movies

      Thank you for sharing your experience with the setup of your HW-A450 soundbar. Your feedback is important to us and will be shared with our product teams.

      To setup the HW-A450, we recommend using the included digital optical audio cable. You can also connect your devices (cable boxes, video game systems, and Blu-ray players) to the TV, and have the sound output from the TV to the soundbar.
      1. With the TV and soundbar turned on, connect one end of a digital optical cable to the OPTICAL OUT port on the TV.
      2. Then, connect the other end to the DIGITAL AUDIO IN (OPTICAL) port on the soundbar.
      3. Press Source on the remote or soundbar, and then set the soundbar to the D.IN. setting.
      4. Finally, on the TV, you need to set the speaker output to external speakers.
      5. Navigate to Settings, and then press Up on the navigation arrows to highlight Quick settings.
      6. Press the right directional arrow to highlight TV Speaker and press select to change it to Optical (external speakers). The TV's sound will now play from the soundbar.

      Hi,

      Thank you for choosing Samsung’s HW-A450 Soundbar and for your review. We appreciate your feedback regarding the manual included with your soundbar. To assist you in the functions and settings of your new soundbar, you can download the full user manual directly from Samsung’s website by clicking “Support” in the top right corner. Then go to “Manuals & Software” > “TVs & Home Theater” > “Home Theater” > “Sound Bars”. From there, you can select the A450 under A Series.

      If you are connecting wirelessly to the TV via Bluetooth, please follow these steps:

      1) Press the PAIR button on the remote to enter BT PAIRING mode. You can also press the SOURCE button on the top panel and then select BT. “BT” changes to “BT PAIRING” in a few seconds automatically or changes to “BT READY” if there is a connect record. If BT READY appears, press and hold the SOURCE button on the top panel of the Soundbar for more than 5 seconds to display BT PAIRING.

      2) Select the Bluetooth sound mode on your TV (See your TV's user manual for assistance)

      3) Select “[AV] Samsung Soundbar A450 Series” from the list on the TV’s screen. An available Soundbar is indicated with “Need Pairing” or “Paired” on the TV’s Bluetooth device list. To connect the TV to the Soundbar, select the message, and then establish a connection.

      When the TV is connected, [TV Name] → “BT” appears on the Soundbar’s front display. You should now hear TV sound from the Soundbar. Once you have connected your soundbar for the first time, use the “BT READY” mode to reconnect.

    Doesn’t have the greatest volume. Even turned up all the way couldn’t hear it over a crowded room.

      Hi Joakley74,

      I am sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with the overall volume of the soundbar. If you don't have a surround system, you will probably want to select PCM audio on your TV. You'll get much louder volume that way, and potentially better sound quality.

      If your Digital Output Audio Format isn't set to PCM, for instance if you have a Dolby option selected, then you will likely notice decreased maximum volume. Dolby options are designed for surround systems (like 3.1.2 or 7.1), whereas PCM provides great sound quality for stereo speakers.

      On a Samsung TV this can be found at Home > Settings > Sound > Expert Settings. (It can also be found in the Quick Settings.)

    Had to return. bought this for my outdoor TV, but the TV speakers provided better volume??? Definitely weird since the TV is also a Samsung. Also tried the Insigna which was the same. Don't know why neither worked. Last attempt was a Bose Solo which works great. Plenty of volume and bass for a small sound bar.

    A real wasye of money. My research lead me to believe that this would be very important for quality sound with our tv, but it really sounds quite mediocre. Don't get the subwoofer either. It's horrible. Constantly thumping away and ruining most content with way overboosted sounds.

      Hi George,

      Thank you for purchasing the HW-A450 Soundbar from Samsung and sharing your feedback regarding connection issues. When you turn the power on after connecting the power cables to the Soundbar and subwoofer, the subwoofer is automatically connected to the Soundbar. When auto pairing is complete, the blue indicators at the rear of the subwoofer turn on.

      If autoconnection fails, you can manually connect the subwoofer.

      Before performing the manual connection procedure below:
      • Check whether the power cables for the Soundbar and subwoofer are connected properly.
      • Make sure that the Soundbar is turned off.

      1. Press and hold ID SET on the rear of the subwoofer for at least 5 seconds.
      • The red indicator on the rear of the subwoofer turns off and the blue indicator blinks.
      2. Press and hold the Up button on the remote control for at least 5 seconds.
      • The ID SET message appears on the display of the Soundbar for a moment, and then it disappears.
      • The Soundbar will automatically power on when ID SET is complete.
      3. Check if the LINK LED is solid blue (connection complete). The LINK LED indicator stops blinking and glows a solid blue when a connection is established between the Soundbar and the Wireless Subwoofer.

    TV speaker with a sub and no volume above 25

    Average sound quality with one key problem. Sound does not get any louder when going above 25. You get a sound bar to have better and clearer sound than the TV speakers but this only projects all sounds slightly louder than the TV but with bass that drowns out any dialect.

    Did not work Tried on my Best Buy Pioneer fire tv (yet that tv allows you to make minimal tv changes to sound etc… cause your kinda stuck in the fire tv infrastructure) but then I tried to connect to my Samsung and still did not work. Also only has USB (which is antiquated) or Bluetooth which my tv did not see. Sad it’s not a plug in and Samsung recognizes other Samsung… Nooo Samsung is bl in ms to other devices unlike Apple. Too bad Apple has not entered Tv or sound bar arena. Nope we’re stuck with dated communication tech (eye roll here) So took it back. Upgraded to next version up (forr Red back yard do don’t wanna spend a ton) and this version has Hdmi do hope that will fix communication issue.

      You can try optimizing audio performance for your specific content by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, or ADAPTIVE.

      You can also press the Sound Control button on the remote (looks like a gear) to adjust TREBLE and BASS.

      Press and hold the Sound Control button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each of seven frequency bands.

      Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer to -12 or between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.

      Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-A450 Soundbar and for your review. We appreciate your feedback regarding the volume of your soundbar. Simply changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM can help. You may want to try changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM.

      On a Samsung TV this can be found at Home > Settings > Sound > Expert Settings. (It can also be found in the Quick Settings.)

      If your Digital Output Audio Format isn't set to PCM, like for instance if you have a Dolby option selected, then you will likely notice decreased maximum volume. Dolby options are designed for surround systems (like 3.1.2 or 7.1), whereas PCM provides great sound quality for stereo speakers.

      If you don't have a surround system, you will probably want to select PCM. You'll get much louder volume that way, and potentially better sound quality.

    Interfacing with blutooth doesn't work the way it should. The synch between video and audio cannot be synched. There is an adjustment bandwidth you can try. But it is not wide enough to work properly. Am very sorry I purchase this unit.

I am sorry to hear that your troubleshooting attempts were unsuccessful, I completely understand your frustrations and am here to help. You may want to try using the included optical cable to reduce the delay.

      2020 and 2021 Samsung TVs have a feature called Audio Pass-Through. You can use this feature to correct your audio-sync issue if you are connecting to a Samsung TV. On your TV go to: Settings > Audio > Expert Settings > Digital Audio Output Format > Pass-Through

      Please also be sure both your soundbar and TV are updated to the latest firmware version featuring improved connectivity and features.

      Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-A450 Soundbar with a 6.5” Wireless Subwoofer. We value your feedback regarding the bass performance of the subwoofer.

      By design, the purpose of the subwoofer is to reproduces low frequency sounds and not musical tones. It adds rich tones and deepens sound effects, like the rumbles of an explosion or the depth in bass guitars and drums.

      There are three adjustments that can be made for bass and subwoofer:
      1) Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down

      2) Adjust the bass control by pressing the SOUND CONTROL button (gear icon) on the remote control, then select BASS to increase the level. You can adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

      3) Press the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then select BASS BOOST mode. This will provide you with a larger emphasis on bass sound.

      For precise audio adjustments, you can use the 7-band frequency equalizer to optimize the sound for your room acoustics.
