Entertainment system fail

Got everything up and installed then went to look for the remote to activate the speaker and there was not remote in the speaker box. Very disappointing and best buy doesn't have replacements. Spending money to spend more money.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-A450 Soundbar and for your review. We appreciate your feedback regarding the volume of your soundbar. Simply changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM can help. You may want to try changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM.
On a Samsung TV this can be found at Home > Settings > Sound > Expert Settings. (It can also be found in the Quick Settings.)
If your Digital Output Audio Format isn't set to PCM, like for instance if you have a Dolby option selected, then you will likely notice decreased maximum volume. Dolby options are designed for surround systems (like 3.1.2 or 7.1), whereas PCM provides great sound quality for stereo speakers.
If you don't have a surround system, you will probably want to select PCM. You'll get much louder volume that way, and potentially better sound quality.

Picked up June 16... here we are August 19th, and it’s a wrap... the volume goes down by itself... I tried resetting it, replacing batteries, holding -+ at the same time and still nothing... look online... there is a known problem...

You may also want to initialize your soundbar again by pressing the - + (volume) buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds. “INIT” appears on the display when the soundbar is initialized.
Please also make sure that you have the latest firmware update. You can update your firmware by using a USB device.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the HW-AXXX Subwoofer. The subwoofer is responsible for low frequency sounds, like the rumbles of an explosion in an action movie or the bass guitar and drum in your favorite music. It adds rich bass tones and deepens the sound quality you hear, but since the subwoofer only plays low tones, it will be silent when low frequency sounds are not in use. If you would like louder (or softer) bass from your subwoofer, you can adjust the level by toggling the WOOFER button on the soundbar remote, and then adjusting the level from -6 to +6. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.

No sound Sound Bar

You can try optimizing audio performance for your specific content by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then selecting the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, or ADAPTIVE.
You can also press the Sound Control button on the remote (looks like a gear) to adjust TREBLE and BASS.
Press and hold the Sound Control button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each of seven frequency bands.
Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer to -12 or between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.
Please know, simply changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM can help improve the volume. You may want to try changing the Digital Output Audio Format to PCM.

Irritating lights

The Soundbar turns on by itself when another device connected to it tells it to. The solution depends on which device is causing the Soundbar to turn on.
1) For a Bluetooth source, press and hold the SOUND MODE button for 6 seconds while the Soundbar is on. Set it so that “OFF-BLUETOOTH POWER” appears on the display.
2) For an Optical source, press and hold the Left button for 6 seconds while the Soundbar is on. Set it so that “OFF-AUTO POWER LINK” appears on the display.
3) For an HDMI source, press and hold the Right button for 6 seconds while the Soundbar is on. Set it so that “OFF-ANYNET+” appears on the display.

1) The maximum wireless signal transmission distance is about 33 ft.
2) Electronic devices may cause radio interference. Devices that generate electromagnetic waves should be kept away from the Soundbar main unit - e.g., microwaves, wireless LAN devices, etc.

Great Boom for the Buck

I haven't bought a soundbar in a few years because the ones I've had before less than desirable. The Samsung A450 is fantastic! The setup is quite simple. It's a decent size, and it fits well beneath my 65-inch screen on my TV stand. I used the optical wire that came with it to connect it to the television (which others I have looked at did not come with), so I utilized the Bluetooth for my children’s music stations on Pandora. The subwoofer is excellent phenomenal bass and boom for movies, and the sound is fantastic. I've got it hooked up to my TV and I'm enjoying viewing all of my streaming content on it. It's almost as if you're in a movie theater. I haven't even changed the settings because it sounds great in the default settings out of the box.

Thank you for purchasing the Samsung HW-A450 Soundbar and for sharing your review. I’m very sorry for the difficulties you’ve experienced with your Soundbar’s setup. We completely understand your frustrations, and we are here to help.
Please know the HW-A450 is compatible with all current Samsung models available for purchase. You can use the optical cable included with the soundbar to connect direct to the TV.Follow the steps below to utilize the optical connection on your new Samsung TV.
1. With the TV and soundbar turned on, connect one end of a digital optical cable to the OPTICAL OUT port on the TV. Some optical cables feature a small cap over the tip of the cable to protect it from breaking before use, remove this cap before connecting.
2. Then, connect the other end to the DIGITAL AUDIO IN (OPTICAL) port on the soundbar.
3. Press Source on the remote or soundbar, and then set the soundbar to the D.IN. setting.
4. Finally, on the TV, you need to set the speaker output to external speakers.
5. Navigate to Settings, and then press Up on the navigation arrows to highlight Quick settings.
6. Press the right directional arrow to highlight TV Speaker and press select to change it to Optical (external speakers). The TV's sound will now play from the soundbar.
