Sounds good, Bad for TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It had superior sound quality. I mainly bought it for music and it sounded great. The subwoofer was especially powerful. Unfortunately when it came to the TV it had some sort of glitch that caused to the TV to randomly black out for a few seconds... over and over. After exhausting all solutions I had to take it back to the store.

Soundbar Issue or Geek Squad Issue or Both
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sound for about two months and then the auto-start stopped working. I tried to reset the factory settings and the auto-start still didn’t work. I went into our local Best Buy and I was told that I need to have a Geek Squad repair person to come to my house. So I called the local Geek Squad and they told me that I had to bring it into the store. I called the Geek Squad again and I was told to bring it in. So on February 20, 2023 I took it in and they told me that they don’t repair soundbars in the store. Finally, the associate said that they will take it and have to ship it out for repair and I agreed to it. On March 5, 2023, I received an email stating that they didn’t find any issues with it and they were sending it back. It’s March 13, 2023 and we still don’t have our soundbar back. I really wished that we bought another brand that put out great sound.

Posted .Doug,
Thank you for sharing your review of Samsung’s HW-B650 Soundbar. We’re sorry your experience didn’t match your expectations. Your feedback is very important to us as we continuously strive for best-in-class product and service. We are always here to help and would have been happy to assist in providing settings adjustments to resolve any issues you were experiencing.
In all configurations (Optical, Bluetooth, and ARC) when the TV is turned ON, the Soundbar will turn ON. If your soundbar is not turning on, it could be due to another reason. For example, if the Soundbar was used to connect to another device (say a smart phone), then it will remember the last device (smart phone) and wait for a command from that device (the smartphone) and ignore the TV ON command.
You may want to try using a HDMI-ARC connection to the TV. When the TV turns ON, it will send a command to turn on the Soundbar and forces the source on the Soundbar to change to HDMI-ARC. This would make the Soundbar change the source from the prior state it was in.
Additionally, you can try the troubleshooting steps below to ensure the proper settings are enabled on your Soundbar.
If your soundbar and Samsung TV are connected by an optical cable, Auto Power Link will turn your soundbar on automatically when you turn on the TV.
1) Connect your soundbar to your TV with an optical cable.
2) Set the soundbar to BT READY mode by pressing Source on the remote or soundbar.
3) Press and hold the left direction on the direction pad on the remote for more than 5 seconds or until Auto Power Link appears on the soundbar display to activate or deactivate Auto Power Link.
Note: Auto Power Link only works with an optical connection and should be turned on by default.
If you have the soundbar connected with an HDMI cable to the Samsung TV, Anynet+ will turn the soundbar on automatically.
1) Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI OUT port on your soundbar to your TV's HDMI (ARC) port.
2) Set the soundbar to D.IN mode by pressing Source on the remote or soundbar. After about 2 seconds, the source will automatically change to TV ARC.
3) Press and hold the right direction on the direction pad on the remote for more than 5 seconds or until Anynet+ appears on the soundbar display to activate or deactivate Anynet+.
Note: Anynet+ only works with an HDMI connection when connected using ARC (audio return channel), and should be turned on by default.

Maybe I Got A Lemon...
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this based on all the good reviews, but my experience was not good. I was replacing an older Samsung 2.1 sound bar that was good, but I was having trouble hearing the voices in shows and movies. I had hoped that since this model has a center speaker, it would fix that problem. I found that the center speaker did help with voice reproduction, but it made the voices sound "buzzy" and unnatural. Also, I had problems with the included remote. I had to hit the buttons several times to change any of the settings even after changing the batteries. The biggest problem though was that the audio kept cutting out on both the hdmi and optical inputs. I could temporarily fix the problem by turning off the sound bar and turning it back on, but the problem kept coming back. Maybe I just got a lemon, but I had to return it and got a JBL Bar 5.1 Surround that is so much better in every way.

Good Sound -- If and When It Works
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been looking for a reasonably priced, decent-sounding 3.1ch soundbar with subwoofer combination for a while. When I heard this in the store, I thought I had found my wish. NO SUCH LUCK. From the day this was installed, the remote control wouldn't work, I couldn't get it to have a full sound, and my main reason for having a 3.1ch system -- to be able to emphasize voice over background -- didn't function at all. Considering all the frustrations, you should not be surprised to read that I exchanged it for a soundbar from the company that manufactured my TV. Would I recommend this soundbar? Not if you have a Sony TV.

Quit working at 22 months, Great up until then.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved this unit while it worked. After ownership of almost 2 years, the unit will not power on. I went through all of the videos and instructions for troubleshooting, confirmed power at outlet and tested that 24volts is getting to unit. The unit sells for almost $400 and I had hoped it would last a little longer that 22 months.

Sound bar
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to Best Buy to listen to their display models before I bought one. I don't like returns. I bought this one but I'm unhappy because it doesn't have very much bass to it. I have called them to ask what they have with a better bass and it seems I have to spend $1000 to get that sound. That I cannot afford.

Posted .Hello Joseph,
We appreciate you taking a few moments to review the Samsung HW-B650 Soundbar.
I am sorry to hear that the troubleshooting steps you have tried did not resolve the issue. In addition to checking the connections of the soundbar, please make sure your soundbar is using the latest firmware Version. Updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements. You can update your firmware by using a USB device.
You may also want to initialize your soundbar by pressing the - and + (volume) buttons on the side of the soundbar at the same time for at least 5 seconds. The light indicator on the front of the soundbar will blink 4 times and the soundbar will be reset. Please know, this will reset all settings on the soundbar back to default; any sound adjustments will need to be performed again.
Should you continue to experience audio dropouts, and are connected wirelessly, please use the included cable to connect the soundbar to the TV. Using a wired connection instead of wireless often eliminates the issue entirely and improves the user experience.
If you need more help, Samsung is here for you. Please call us at 1-800-SAMSUNG, 8AM - 12AM EST (Ask for Soundbars), 7 days a week. Live Chat with an agent as well as manuals, software, creating a service ticket, and warranty info can be found at the ‘Support’ link on our Samsung website.

Samsung doesn't sit this model when syncing remote
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once I got the soundbar set up, the audio fidelity was very good. Better than my old one. However, set up was sub standard. I have Samsung TV. It does not list this soundbar model so I was unable to get it linked with my Universal remote. The Universal remote does turn the unit on and off but doesn't control the volume. I don't understand why Samsung doesn't support it's own systems!

Thank you for taking a moment to review the Samsung B650 Soundbar.
If your soundbar is connected to your TV with either an optical cable or HDMI via ARC, you can control the volume and mute the soundbar using your Samsung TV's remote. The soundbar should also turn on and off with the TV.
1) Use the TV remote to navigate to Settings, select Sound, and then select Sound Output on your Samsung TV.
2) Select your Samsung soundbar, and then select Close. Now you can use your TV remote to adjust volume and mute the soundbar. The soundbar should also turn on and off with the TV.
Other manufacturer’s remotes may have to be enabled on your soundbar. First, turn Off the Soundbar. Once powered off, push up and hold the WOOFER button for 5 seconds. Each time you push the WOOFER button up and hold it for 5 seconds, the mode switches in the following order: “OFF-TV REMOTE” (Default mode), “SAMSUNG-TV REMOTE”, “ALL-TV REMOTE”. Please also make sure your speaker settings on the TV are set to External Speaker.

Posted .Hi PaulaD,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re dissatisfied with the performance of your Samsung HW-B650 Soundbar.
There are a few things you may want to check:
1) The maximum wireless signal transmission distance is about 33 ft.
2) Electronic devices may cause radio interference. Devices that generate electromagnetic waves should be kept away from the Soundbar main unit - e.g., microwaves, wireless LAN devices, etc.
3) Also, please be sure you have the latest firmware update. You can update your firmware by using a USB device. You can find the update on the product page of your HW-B650 on the Samsung website.
Should you need further assistance with this issue, or have any questions about features or operation, please know that Samsung is here to help. ||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It sounds good when the source supports Dolby, but the Dolby setting sounds like garbage when the source doesn't support Dolby audio, obviously. The problem is that every other audio setting it gives like a vibrating feedback at the end of every single spoken sentence. The problem only exists when people speak, but it drives me insane. Most of the time I just turn the TV speaker back on if what I'm watching isn't in Dolby.

Posted .Hi DavidG,
Thank you for taking a few moments to review the HW-B650 Soundbar.
Here are a few tips to try and troubleshoot your issue.
Try manually connecting your sub to your soundbar by pressing and holding ID SET on the rear of the subwoofer for at least 5 seconds. The red indicator on the rear of the subwoofer turns off and the blue indicator blinks. Press and hold the Up button on the remote control for at least 5 seconds. The ID SET message appears on the display of the Soundbar for a moment, and then it disappears. The Soundbar will automatically power on when ID SET is complete. The LINK LED indicator stops blinking and glows a solid blue when a connection is established between the Soundbar and the Wireless Subwoofer.
Please verify that you are running the latest firmware on your TV. You can check to see what software version your TV is using and if there is an available update through the settings on your TV. Go to: Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.
First, try doing a soft reset, unplug the soundbar from the outlet for roughly 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
If this still does not correct your issue, then do a hard reset. With the Soundbar on, press the + & - Volume buttons on the body of the soundbar at the same time for at least 5 seconds. INIT OK” appears on the display and then the Soundbar is reset.

The flashing light on the subwoofer means that it has started the pairing process and is has not completed pairing to the soundbar. To pair the subwoofer to the soundbar automatically follow these instructions below.
1. Press and hold ID SET on the rear of the subwoofer for at least 5 seconds.
• The red indicator on the rear of the subwoofer turns off and the blue indicator blinks.

• The ID SET message appears on the display of the Soundbar for a moment, and then it disappears.
• The Soundbar will automatically power on when ID SET is complete.

(Make sure the Sound mode is set to “STANDARD”.
Additionally, using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the subwoofer’s volume between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.
