Thank you for sharing your experiences with the new HW-B650 Soundbar.
There are a few different ways you can improve your overall bass levels.
Press and hold the (Sound Control) button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons. (Make sure the Sound mode is set to “STANDARD”.
By pressing the TONE CONTROL button, you can adjust the volume of the treble or bass sound. Press the button to select TREBLE or BASS and then adjust the volume between -6~+6 by using the Up/Down buttons.
Additionally, using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the subwoofer’s volume between -6 to +6 by toggling the button up or down. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button down.

And not all the functions of our Apple TV remote seem to work with the sound bar. So I wish the installation came with the sound bar… I hope to someday give a five star Review if we ever get it correctly installed

Clean sound!

In fact my cheap vizo has more base than this. But that being said if your looking for clean crispy sounds that are not muffled this is definitely it . The base rumbles enough at higher volumes and is not absurd.

Thank you for taking a moment to review the Samsung HW-B650 Soundbar.
If available, we recommend using the HDMI connection to your TV.
Connecting your soundbar to a TV through HDMI will provide the best audio and user experience, often eliminating any connection or delay issues you may be experiencing. There are 2 ways to connect your soundbar with HDMI: you can connect a device to your soundbar (like a Blu-ray player) and then connect the soundbar to the TV, or you can use HDMI ARC. The first method will give you the best possible sound from external devices you regularly use. ARC is the way to go if you want great sound from streaming apps on your TV and a soundbar.
If connected via Bluetooth to the TV and the soundbar is dropping out intermittently there are a few things to check before performing any troubleshooting:
1) The maximum wireless signal transmission distance is about 33 ft.
2) If there is a device that uses the same wireless frequency near the Soundbar, interference may cause some sound interruption.
4) Check all the sources on the soundbar. If the audio is dropping while watching TV it could be an issue with the broadcast.
5) Also, please be sure you have the latest firmware update. You can update your firmware by using a USB device. You can find the update on the product page of your HW-B650 on the Samsung website.

Replaced a 10 yr old Samsung soundbar and sound quality is a big improvement. Especially happy with the voice control options - dialogue is very clear.

Thank you for taking a few moments to review the Samsung HW-B650 Soundbar.
The HW-B650 is not able to be connected to the SmartThings App since it doesn't have Wi-Fi capabilities.
You may first want to check the cable connection of the soundbar to the TV or external device to ensure it is secure, and properly connected to the correct port.
You can update the Soundbar by connecting the USB drive that contains the update firmware to the SERVICE port of the Soundbar.
1.Go to the Samsung Electronics website (www.samsung.com) → click on the “Support” option in the upper right corner.
2.Click on “Manuals & Software” from the pop-up list > TVs & Home Theater > Home Theater > Select your model
2. Download the firmware file (USB type).
3. Unzip the file to create a folder with the file name.
4. Store the created folder in a USB and then connect it to the Soundbar.
5. A sequence of “UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON” will appear on the display 3 times. This will take around 6 minutes.
- During update, do not turn it off or remove the USB.
- If “UPDATE” does not appear on the display window, remove the power cord from the Soundbar and then reconnect it.
- When the latest Version is installed, no update is performed.
- Depending on the USB type, update may not be supported.
6. After the 3 cycles are complete, the Soundbar will restart and last source used will appear on the display for about 20 seconds and then it will go off (“UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON”) 3 times “D.IN” > off
You may also want to initialize your soundbar by pressing the - and + (volume) buttons on the top of the soundbar at the same time for at least 5 seconds. “INIT OK” appears on the display and then the Soundbar is reset. Please know, this will reset all settings on the soundbar back to default; any sound adjustments will need to be performed again.
Should you continue to experience audio dropouts, and are connected wirelessly, please use the included cable to connect the soundbar to the TV. Using a wired connection instead of wireless often eliminates the issue entirely and improves the user experience.

Good Price But...

I have older Samsung soundbars & BT woofers that sound much better. The highs are very bright (too bright) and when you add more bass, it gets muddy quickly. I really wanted this work for me.

You can try adjusting audio performance to your liking by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your soundbar remote, and then select the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, BASS BOOST, GAME, or ADAPTIVE.
You can also press the Sound Control button on the remote (which looks like a gear) to adjust TREBLE and BASS.

People say it lacks bass, but I find it to be plenty loud. It won't replace an actual surround sound, but a step up from TV speakers.
