This was a huge upgrade from our previous soundbar and did not disappoint. Big, clear sounds, with true surround feels. Even the background sounds from film comes through that weren’t noticed before making you feel you are apart of the screen. Chris, our sales help was incredible helpful and friendly helping us choose the best fit for our needs. Easy to connect and love the display on the bar

I’ve never heard a sound bar system that I enjoyed and that made me very nervous to purchase this despite all the rave reviews. This went into my main family room where it’s not ideal for a real sound system but we find ourselves watching a lot of tv in that room and needed something. I caught this on sale when the new F model was launched and saved a lot of money. It’s definitely the best sound bar I’ve heard and I’m very happy with it. Perfect for our family room and surprised at how well the surround sounds in this odd shaped room adding a lot of depth to the TV. I wouldn’t pay full price for these I would go with full range floor speakers if spending that much. But on sale worth every penny.

I got this the other day and let me tell you it was easy to install and when I say my room comes to life vibrantly filled with amazing sound quality that competes with my home theater system that cost 40k more! You cant go wrong with this one.

This is a great soundbar. I love that it has wireless rear speakers, so I don't have to try and hide those speaker wires. It was very easy to set up. I just connected an HDMI cable from the sound bar to my TV and it was good to go. It has different levels and settings to hear music or sound. Also, now that it has been updated to 2.1 HDMI, I can get Dolby atmos sound on my PS5, which is fantastic, and it gets plenty loud.

Samsung makes the best sound bar systems on the market. The sound from this setup is simply amazing. Go to a local BestBuy and hear it for yourself. Dialogue is clear, surround sound is immersive, and bass is appropriate. You will never reach the same level as a dedicated receiver and speakers, but for the price and the convenience...this is worth every penny.

Overall a solid purchase. Sound is pretty good and way better than the prior 3.1 system of a different brand. Not only is the sound fuller bc of the rear speakers, but the overall sound quality is clear and relatively full and dynamic. Not as good as a 5.1 Denon, wired system, but still pretty good. I'm pleased with the sound quaility. Rating it a 4 instead of a 5 bc the bluetooth connectivity of bass and rear speakers, and the eHDMI connection to the TV of a different brand is sometimes wonky. I've had to unplug and replug the sound system to reset/connect it at least once.

After 11 years of owning my Bose solo soundbar.. yeah 11 years, it finally went. It lasted me so long so it was finally time to get a new sound system. Ended up doing a lot of research online which probably took me at most 1 hour when I ran into this beautiful system. Sat there, got my car keys and drove out to the Best Buy that had it in stock and best decision ever made to purchase.
Real easy to set up, paired up with my Samsung tv and setting up the pass through with my PS5.. and boy let me tell you… it feels like my entire living room shakes and the beautiful sound that comes out from behind with the rear speakers be it an action packed movie, or explosive gaming or even the realistic feeling of being in a horror movie with the sounds practically in your ears! The most I pushed up the volume was at 40% and sheesh it blasts. My 2 dogs sometimes looks around confused at the sound all about them. I leave my volume at about 20-25% and that’s more than enough
Best purchase ever, quality is amazing. I am one happy buyer for sure!

This system punches above its weight and delivers phenomenal sound and clarity. I’ve had it for a year and continue to smile when I get it going for a movie or game. Even more impressive is how it handles low volumes, with clear voices and detail. If your means allow, I’d get it and wouldn’t look back.

Bought this for my parents. The soundbar is incredible, especially at this price point. I do want to point out that I got it $700 off which makes it a better value in my opinion.
The sound is fantastic, and setup is straight forward. The dual HDMI ports is also an incredibly convenient decision that eliminates the need for additional hardware to utilize the soundbar with more than a single device.
I only have two complaints.
First, is how non-user friendly the interface is. It’s absolutely usable but cycling in order through all the settings on the terrible little screen on the soundbar leaves a lot to be desired. Sony puts a menu on the screen of the television to tweak the settings and it’s so much more convenient.
Second, is the settings. I looked through every single booklet and manual that came with the soundbar and couldn’t find an explanation to any of them. Some are self-explanatory but I wouldn’t say that’s the case for more than half of them. I’m sure the failure is mine but I couldn’t even find a single source of explanation online either. I had to visit multiple sites and even then people online seem to only be taking best guess at these settings.

The setup is straightforward plug in and you're ready to go and the sound is amazing on any movie and show especially Top Gun and any Transformer movie I guarantee it but wait there's more; if you download the SmartThings app you can customize your sounds even more. Money well spent in my opinion.

I’ve been using the Samsung HW-Q990D for a couple of weeks now, and it has completely transformed my living room. The setup was surprisingly easy for a system of this size, and within minutes, I was getting true, room-filling Dolby Atmos sound from the soundbar, wireless subwoofer, and rear speakers.
The clarity of dialogue is excellent, even at lower volumes, and the surround effects are incredibly immersive when watching movies or sports. The bass from the subwoofer is powerful without being overwhelming, and the rear speakers really complete the cinematic experience.
Music also sounds fantastic — crisp highs, rich mids, and deep lows. Whether it’s Netflix, gaming, or just streaming playlists, this system handles everything beautifully.
It’s definitely a premium soundbar, but the performance matches the price. If you’re looking for a true home theater feel without running wires through the entire room, this is one of the best options available right now.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended.

I don’t know what else to say other than this system is the best I’ve ever used, and I’ve had a lot of TVs and sound systems through the years, including those with a separate amplifier. My friends and family can’t get over how great it sounds. I have it paired with a Samsung S90 C, 77 inch OLED. Don’t think twice if you’re willing to spend the money - it’s worth it!

Wow!! Incredibly sophisticated design as well as high-quality sound. Easy to connect with the Samsung Q Synchrony Ready TV. The system truly brings the sound to your home. I have a very peculiar living room layout with openings yet the AI sound adjusted perfectly so you hear sound and detail in every corner! Extremely happy with my purchase
Simply Amazing!! (Coming from a Sonos /Bose owner)

PS5 games and movies sound great!!! Sound bar is freaking awesome!! Rear speakers are solid too. Base could probably have some improvements when compared to Sonos, but the soundbar blows the Sonos Arc out the water. Also, the Smart Thing Apps for this is outstanding!! This system has so many additional and well thought out features when using the app. Samsung really did knock it out the park when it comes to those additional features and the app looks very clean. The three 2.1 HDMI ports on the sound bar provides you with convenience and flexibility. Also, if you have a movie collection, the fact that this supports many more audio formats than Sonos and Bose is a big plus as others have pointed out. BTW, I was trying to decided if I was going to keep this system or go with the Sonos Arc, Base Gen 3 , along with (2) Era 300s. Guess what went back to the store??? It was too hard to ignore the incredible value you were getting with this Samsung setup and did I mention it sounds AMAZING?!!
Ease of Setup = A+
Sound Bar = A
Rear Speakers = B+
Base Module = B-
Smart things A and additional features = A+++
Thank you for sharing your positive experience with the HW-Q990D Soundbar! Its impressive configuration of 11 front-facing speakers, 1 subwoofer, and 4 up-firing channels ensures a captivating audio experience that envelops you from all directions. Whether it’s music, movies, or gaming, this soundbar delivers bold, multi-channel sound that truly immerses you.
And the inclusion of a rear speaker kit means your home theater setup is complete right out of the box. No need to hunt for additional components—it’s all there!
Now, let’s talk about the intriguing Private Rear Sound feature. This clever addition allows you to enjoy your favorite shows and movies discreetly, especially during late-night viewing. By deactivating the front-firing speakers and utilizing only the rear speakers, you can immerse yourself in the content without disturbing others nearby. It’s a thoughtful feature that enhances your overall entertainment experience.
There are two adjustments that can be made to maximize bass from the soundbar and subwoofer: 1. Using the WOOFER button on the remote, you can adjust the level between -6 to +6. To set the subwoofer volume level to 0, press the button in.
2. Adjust the bass control by pressing the TONE CONTROL button on the remote control, then select BASS to increase the level. You can adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.
For precise audio adjustments, you can use the 7-band frequency equalizer to optimize the sound for your room acoustics.

Fantastic sound from all directions. Set up was a little more difficult than expected, but we eventually got it done and have been rewarded with all encompassing sound from our tv. Movies are so much clearer!

Review: Samsung Q990D + Samsung QN90F — A Shockingly Bad Experience
I went into this setup expecting seamless integration. After all, Samsung markets their soundbars and TVs as a unified ecosystem, and the Q990D is supposed to be their flagship. Instead, pairing the Q990D with my Samsung QN90F has been one of the most disappointing home‑theater experiences I’ve ever had.
eARC Incompatibility That Makes No Sense
The biggest failure is eARC. It simply does not work reliably.
Instead of delivering stable audio, the system constantly drops sound and randomly switches back to the TV speakers. This isn’t an occasional hiccup—it’s a recurring, maddening issue that ruins movies, games, and everyday use.
For a premium soundbar and a premium Samsung TV, this level of incompatibility is unacceptable.
Forced Into Wi‑Fi Audio for Basic Devices
What makes this even worse is that the Q990D seems to require Wi‑Fi audio to function consistently, even when using basic, everyday devices that millions of people own:
• PlayStation 5
• Nintendo Switch
• Roku
• Blu‑ray player
These are not exotic or unusual setups. They’re standard home electronics. Yet the Q990D struggles with them unless you abandon HDMI and rely on Wi‑Fi—something no one should have to do for a flagship soundbar.
Audio Drops, Switching Outputs, and Constant Frustration
The experience is a loop of:
• Sound cutting out
• Output switching back to TV speakers
• Manually reselecting the soundbar
• Hoping it holds for more than a few minutes
It’s exhausting, and it completely undermines the point of buying a high‑end sound system.
Bottom Line
The Samsung Q990D may sound great when it works, but the constant eARC failures, audio drops, and forced Wi‑Fi reliance make it impossible to recommend—especially if you’re pairing it with a Samsung TV like the QN90F.
This should have been a premium, plug‑and‑play experience. Instead, it’s been a frustrating, unreliable mess

Updating the firmware on your soundbar gives you all the benefits of the latest improvements. When the Soundbar is connected to the Internet, Auto Update allows software to update automatically even when the Soundbar is turned off. You can also update by using the SmartThings app.
If not connected to the internet, you can download it onto a USB device, and then upload it to your soundbar - no wireless connection required. Connect the USB drive that contains the update firmware to the SERVICE port of the Soundbar.
1.Go to the Samsung Electronics website (www.samsung.com) → click on the “Support” option in the upper left corner. 2.Click on “Manuals & Software” from the pop-up list > TVs & Home Theater > Home Theater > Select your model 2. Download the firmware file (USB type). 3. Unzip the file to create a folder with the file name. 4. Store the created folder in a USB and then connect it to the Soundbar. 5. A sequence of “UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON” will appear on the display 3 times. This will take around 6 minutes. - During update, do not turn it off or remove the USB. - If “UPDATE” does not appear on the display window, remove the power cord from the Soundbar and then reconnect it. - When the latest version is installed, no update is performed. - Depending on the USB type, update may not be supported. 6. After the 3 cycles are complete, the Soundbar will restart and last source used will appear on the display for about 20 seconds and then it will go off (“UPDATE” > “BYE” > “ON”) 3 times “D.IN” > off
