Qhd just doesn’t cut it for me will see if wqhd does

I’ll begin with the pros. I like the styling, build quality and gaming performance of this Samsung G5 monitor. The pros include solid constructed and ease of use features that include a wide screen that slides vertically on the stand, swivels right to left and rotates 90-degrees. It also has built-in cable management, intuitive controls, and a small desktop footprint for the base. Gaming performance is good with snappy fast response and no noticeable ghosting or lag. Fast paced racing games like Forza Horizon 5 have smooth, clean, fluid motion when played through my G-SYNC enabled Nvidia RTX card. Even when driving past scenery at over 300 mph in Forza H5, textures and graphics render quick and cleanly. Desktop performance is equally well with no lag whatsoever when opening, minimizing or maximizing files and windows. Spreadsheets and documents have good sharpness with no jaggies on the edges. Gaming and desktop performance are nicely balanced for mixed use systems. The matte screen is excellent for avoiding harsh reflections and glare from nearby users, windows, and bright light sources. Color and brightness seemed a little lacking out of the box but I was able to quickly adjust the display to a satisfying level without using a screen calibration tool. A panel that started out somewhat dim with washed out colors now has good brightness, popping colors and rich saturation. HDR looks good when enabled and although it does improve graphical quality of most games, it is not quite as stunning a difference as my primary gaming monitor. The G5’s viewing angles are also somewhat shallow which results in a shimmering effect with even slight shifts off center. The effect is more noticeable in darker gaming environments. There is also noticeable light bleed along the lower left side of the screen. Like the shimmering effect, the light bleed is most noticeable on dark backgrounds and in darker environments. This display utilizes a proprietary power cord and brick that is far less convenient than the universally swappable standard three prong monitor power cord. If a pet chews this cord or some other mishap strikes, get ready to shell out bucks for another cord and power brick versus grabbing a spare 3-prong off an old monitor or desktop PC or for a few bucks online. Overall, the G5 is a decent gaming and desktop monitor. It has good brightness and saturation, albeit after some fine tuning. Gaming and desktop performance are also both quite good. The screen orientation and position can be adjusted in just about any manner desired and the controls are actually asy to use, which isn’t typically the case with monitors. On the downside, he G5 does have some noticeable light bleed, narrow viewing angles, and a proprietary power cord. It’s not perfect but still pretty good. Solid four out of five.

Monitors are one thing that I feel like it doesn't matter how much research I do, I still have no idea what to get. This monitor doesn't disappoint and is a rather nice upgrade from my 1080p G-Sync compatible ASUS monitor. So far, this monitor has given me everything I wanted. Colors look good. Resolution made me remember how much of a difference there is between 1080p and 1440p (it's big). Now I have so much more room for activities! Refresh rate says it's 1ms response time and my eyes can't tell if that's true so I guess it's good enough. G-Sync compatible (or native) has been the one must for me since having so many issues with a monitor that only claimed FreeSync compatibility. Can't live without it now. Setup was a breeze as it should be with any monitor these days. Plugged in the display port to my computer and we're off the the races. The menu is easy to navigate and change with a single joystick style nub under the monitor. The only other buttons you can press are preset buttons which is a really cool feature. You have 3 buttons you can save preset settings to so you can swap them on the fly quickly depending on what you're playing and what kind of screen settings you prefer at that time. I can see this coming in handy when switching to your FPS game of choice (I don't play a lot of FPS games) and you want to have the virtual center reticle on the screen and then you can switch back to another profile real quick when you're no longer playing that game (or you don't need the reticle anymore). The monitor is also VESA mountable which was important for me. The 100mm mounting bracket fit perfectly without any issues. I'm trying to come up with a negative for this monitor and can't think of anything. It does it's job. Picture looks great. The monitor is advertised as having HDR10 support but I haven't figured out how to enable it anywhere. That could be the one negative aspect although I didn't get this montior for it's HDR support since the brightness isn't really going to give you a great HDR experience anyways. So bottom line, I think this is a pretty affordable 1440p monitor that looks good and has a decent amount of features. If it's in your budget, pick one up.

It's a gaming monitor for those on a budget but it's still very good for what it is. It may not be as bright as some higher-end gaming monitors but the refresh rate is more than adequate to play any game you want. The display brightness is fine for anything but direct light. You will only get glare if you're playing in a brightly-lit room but a light behind you will make it to where you can't see the game you're playing. Direct sunlight is out. The 1ms response time combined with the 165hz refresh rate is really good at keeping your videos crystal clear. It's a very nice feature and it's usually reserved for more expensive monitors. Now, my pet peeve and the reason for the star deduction: Display haloing. I can't tolerate it. If other manufacturers have figured out how to not halo their displays, then ever company should make it a standard to fail the QA if there's haloing. If you're not familiar, haloing is the white light bleeding from the LED backlights and causing a washed out looking black screen. Once you see it, it can't be unseen. That said, once the black is off and you are playing a game, haloing is a lot less noticeable and it may not bother you at all. There is a height adjustable stand that you can hone to help diffuse some unwanted glare. This feature also allows the monitor to swivel into portrait mode which is cool but not useful in my practices. The display edges are seamless so you can pair it with another Odyssey G5 and have a 54" gaming monitor with very little gap between them. I definitely recommend this gaming monitor solution.

The default monitor settings are rough but after following a couple of different guides I found settings that work phenomenally for me, the HDR is very lacking, which is why I gave it 4 stars, because its an older form of HDR but the setttings without HDR are so good that its really not a big deal tho

On behalf of my brother MikeM this monitor is flawless for gaming. IQ is insane and colors pop off the screen with saturation levels to customize. IPS delivers blazing fast response times with zero ghosting. Beautiful matte black finish to complete a unique look. Paired with Xbox Series consoles this monitor is the perfect gaming setup. A steal at $249. Don’t wait. Get one and you will not be disappointed. The G5 Odyssey is a God among monitors. My brother has tried and returned every monitor known to man but this is one that he is keeping. That will tell you everything you need to know.

The Samsung Odyssey G5 is an excellent gaming monitor. It is 27", 2560x1440 resolution, 1ms response time, and 165hz. It also features both G-Synch and FreeSync technology, has 1 hdmi port and 1 displayport. This really has just about everything I am looking for in a gaming monitor. The performance of this monitor is just great. I notice absolutely 0 lag, and everything looks incredibly sharp and vibrant. And the 165hz is great when paired with a high end system that can hit those framerates. It is also great just for everyday use. The UI gives you plenty of options to tweak the display settings, including an "eye saver" mode, which filters out blue light. This is a great option to avoid eye strain for those that are prone to it. It also gives you different modes for different types of video games, like RPG, FPS, etc. This is a great way to just quickly switch to display settings that are optimized for the type of game you are playing. And then you can just switch back to something a bit more "normal" when not playing a game. Really great as opposed to fiddling with the settings every time you want to play a game. Overall I am just very happy with this monitor. It has great gaming performance, and can easily be used for everyday computing as well. Would definitely recommend.

The color on this thing is awesome. First impressions are great. If you are looking for an extremely solid 1440p monitor, this should definitely be at the top of your list of options.

Overall, I love this product. It was a great upgrade from my previous monitor. Refresh rate and resolution were exactly what I was hoping for in a gaming monitor.

The picture quality is excellent. The screen periodically became totally white on half of the monitor for a second. Samsung Tech Support had me check several possible causes and then told me that it is a defective monitor.

Purchased as gift for graphic designer wife. Recommended for use with Photoshop for true colors and clear display. It is a great monitor. Only gripe is ridiculously large stand which takes up a large area. Not a big problem but did lose some potential space. Very pleased.

Excellent monitor, very good resolution and images, great contrast and HDR works very well, I recommend it.

Really nice picture but got mind with a dead pixel but samsung has a good customer service and the problem somehow fixed itself

This display looks very nice. My laptops video card can’t really keep up with it though. I have a 1660ti, I wish it could handle more. Also know that you must use the DisplayPort (in my case a thunderbolt - DisplayPort adapter) to get 165hz. The HDMI 2.0 port on this will limit you to 144hz. The monitor is good though, I can’t even get frame rates much past 100 with any of my games so the refresh rate limitation is no big deal. I also have to turn the resolution down to 1080p with my setup, and the display actually still looks really good at 1080p.

Honestly one of my best purchases ei really want to purchase another 1 and Link them both side of the side. If you ask me any recommendations on how to do so we'll gladly appreciate it

A great screen for my office setup at home. The picture is clear and does not put too much strain on the eyes.

Great moniter but expensive so get it on sale and no 4k
