    Open box scam!

    I drove a significantly long distance to the Burllington, MA Best Buy store to purchase an open box item labelled as "excellent" condition. Their description online states "looks brand new...contains all original parts/accessories." After arriving home I noticed the product had food in all the speaker grills and scratches (that I could not remove) in the sub. I then noticed that the soundbar was last years model (was supposed to be model: 990c in the box (it is 990b as shown in the photo). I returned it at the nearest best buy at the time, but was told I should go back to the original store to receive better compensation. I wasn't going to make the drive again so I simply returned it. I attempted several times to contact corporate to settle the matter, but was unsuccessful. The call center kept telling me I needed to drive back to the original store (which I refused as it was too far). I'm looking for compensation for my time, gas, and inconvenience from Best Buy incorrectly advertising their product (and also having the components from different model years).

    Absolute best plug and play home speaker setup. Nobody can change my Mind. So easy to setup and if you have a Samsung tv even easier.

    Limited equalizer settings. Only bass, treble and mid-tone with a range of 6 settings. There is no individual frequency adjustment. I would have expected more adjustments considering the cost.

      Hello HRSR,

      Thank you for taking a moment to review the HW-Q990C Soundbar.

      Did you know by pressing and holding the SOUND CONTROL button for about 5 seconds to adjust the sound for each frequency band. 150Hz, 300Hz, 600Hz, 1.2kHz, 2.5kHz, 5kHz, and 10kHz are selectable using the Left/Right buttons and each can be adjusted to a setting between -6 to +6 using the Up/Down buttons.

      You can try quickly optimizing the audio by pressing the SOUND MODE button on your remote, and then select the desired sound effect by choosing STANDARD, SURROUND SOUND, GAME, or ADAPTIVE SOUND.

      To control the volume of each speaker, press the CH LEVEL button on the provided remote. Then select CENTER LEVEL, SIDE LEVEL, WIDE LEVEL, FRONT TOP LEVEL, REAR LEVEL, or REAR TOP LEVEL. Once you find the channel you are looking for, adjust the volume between -6 to +6 by using the Up/Down buttons.

      Alternatively, you can adjust all of these same settings and more within the SmartThings app. Download the app for your iOS or Android device and then connect your Soundbar to Wi-Fi. From here, you will be able to adjust all of the same settings as the provided remote, but with the added benefit of being able to see the changes on your smart device.

      Thank you for sharing your experiences with the HW-Q990C Soundbar. I am sorry to see that you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase.

      There are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot your Soundbar.

      Please verify that you are running the latest firmware on your Soundbar. You can download the firmware directly from Samsung’s website by clicking “Support” in the top right corner. Then go to “Manuals & Software” > “TVs & Home Theater” > “Home Theater” > “Sound Bars”. From there, you can select the HW-Q990C under Q-Series. Alternatively, you can download SmartThings on your smart device (either iOS or Android) and connect your Soundbar with Wi-Fi. This will allow you to keep your Soundbar updated automatically.

      Please verify that you are running the latest firmware on your TV. You can check to see what software version your TV is using and if there is an available update through the settings on your TV. Go to: Menu > Settings > Support > Software Update.

      If you are still experiencing issues with your Soundbar, try doing a soft reset, unplug the soundbar from the outlet for roughly 30 seconds and then plug it back in.

      If this still does not correct your issue, then do a hard reset. With the Soundbar on, press the + & - Volume buttons on the body of the soundbar at the same time for at least 5 seconds. INIT OK” appears on the display and then the Soundbar is reset.

    I bought this well reviewed soundbar sysyem to replace a Martin Logan and Maranzt 5.1.2 system. I knew it wouldn't match my system, but I was trying to compromise with my bride for a less intrusive system. To say we were both underwhelmer is an understatement. Sure it was loud, but there was little articulation or chanel seperation. I actually wanted to make this work so it would be easier when my bride is inspired to re arrange the living room. In the end, we liked the look, but within 30 minutes of listening to it my bride asked me to bring back the non decor friendly system and return the sound bar. For what it's worth, we actually tried a sonos arc with 2 era 300s. Even without the sub it runs circles around the samsung. Just my two cents and experience.

    I love the system except one this, not enough bass! The subwoofer is lacking. My vizio subwoofer sounds and feels better than the new samsung subwoofer. I like to feel the music through me! Can Sumsung make a new 10-inch sub for this unit!? I would buy it in a heartbeat!
