As a speaker alone, it’s pretty good. The is the absolute worst if you’re looking for a WiFi connected smart device. I have to reconnect to WiFi at least once a week, which wouldn’t be that terrible if it didn’t take about 30 minutes to reconnect, if it reconnects at all. Sometimes it takes a few days of trying before it stops saying there’s an error and to try again later. My Samsung TV that it’s connected to is right above it and has yet to lose the connection since I installed it 12 months ago so I know it’s not my WiFi. Bottom line, if you’re looking for a smart speaker, definitely don’t buy this one.

This is a feature- packed soundbar just a rung behind Samsungs q990c in features, but generally priced hundreds of dollars less and with almost all the features offered by its more expensive sibling, including the very specific sound placement of Dolby Atmos. The device offers 9.1.4 channel True Dolby Atmos, and Q-Symphony with some Samsung TV models that also blends in the built-in speakers in the TV to work in harmony with the soundbar. The subwoofer and surround speakers only have to be plugged into the wall for power: they have Bluetooth radios that connect them with the main soundbar, so the cables between the speakers are. totally eliminated. A Wi-Fi connection is also possible. In addition to your TV, you can also connect to a streaming or gaming device via HDMI or optical digital audio, and you can also pair your smartphone with the soundbar as well. Amazon Alexa is supported as is Apple AirPlay2. Dolby formats supported include Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS:X, DTS-HD, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, DTS-HD Master Audio. The availability of those formats depend on your having a TV or other device that can support delivery of that format to your speakers.
Why a soundbar as opposed to distinct components for your surround experience? For one thing, the sound bar is specifically engineered to direct the Dolby effects to your ears more efficiently than separate components could; to take up less space; and to be more aesthetically pleasing to your living area with the elimination of all the connecting cables. It succeeds on all counts. I’m not arguing that you could not assemble a surround sound system with discrete components that would blow this one our of the water, but how much would it cost, and how much space would it occupy in your listening environment? Believe me, this system delivers surround sound entertainment at every level!
When I received the soundbar for testing, the only requirement was that I owned a Samsung TV. I had a Samsung plasma set in my bedroom, but it has some age on it. It did not support HDMI ARC, so I had to connect the TV to the soundbar via the optical digital cable. The system was unbelievably easy to set up. Unbox the speakers, plug them in, turn the soundbar on, and you are in business. That Samsung TV had a soundbar attached in the past, but it was just a 2.1 set up. This surround system and the experience of watching movies with it was other-worldly. The only thing missing from the presentation was Dolby Atmos, which the older set was not able to deliver. And don’t fret if you don’t have a Dolby Atmos TV, but want effective surround sound. This soundbar will totally immerse you in an envelope of sound, with very specific front, back and surround effects that totally amazed me. I can only imagine what Dolby Atmos would add to the many other Dolby effects this soundbar has.
My main listening area is in a large living room with a very high ceiling, extending up to about 30 feet at its highest point. But the surround speakers were placed to the rear of the listening space an area where the ceiling only starts it’s slope, providing a reflective area for the surrounds within no more than about 14 feet above the speakers. This worked very nicely. The surround effects I enjoyed in the much smaller bedroom were duplicated in the larger room. This included prodigious bass output from the subwoofer. I literally had to turn the subwoofer volume down to suit my taste, and I am bass-loving listener.
Alas, none of my living room components, neither the TV nor the AVR supported eARC or Dolby Vision, but the soundbar otherwise delivered an incredible surround experience, again delivered through the optical digital connection. It was pretty hard to miss what I have never had, and this soundbar will be ready when I upgrade my TV in the future. I do have an AppleTV2 device which is supposed to support Dolby Atmos, but I could not get it to work through the HDMI cable to the soundbar, and Atmos cannot be delivered through the optical digital connection. Other Apple TV users in my dilemma have had to reconfigure their device to properly extract the Atmos, and I will probably need to do that as well. If I do, I will comment under this review and report on the results.
This is a wonderful soundbar, even if I experienced some quirks with my older equipment. I don’t see how anyone could get more surround excitement than this soundbar provides on a dollar-for-dollar basis. Highly recommended!

Purchased in May of 2023. I didn’t write a review right away because that really is inappropriate. First it was easy to set up. It’s tied into my new Samsung OLED TV. I read other complaints mostly about the subwoofer but i found it to be more than adequate. After a couple of months i watched my first dolby atmos movie to test it out. When the helicopter was landing on top of you in the picture the sound was exactly as it should be. I’m very impressed with this unit even for listening to music, although only with music that is digital. Analog is not as good and its noticable when listening to the vibrato from the late great Paul Kossoff. Wireless connection has never acted up and my wife likes less wires hanging around. The soundbar fits perfectly under the Samsung tv. If i had any complaint about both Samsung products it would be the remote control. It’s really awful! Needs better buttons and backlit lights!

The Samsung HW-Q930C… TLDR: Crispy clear soundbar with awesome features!
Pros:
> Sound quality… is superb! By default, there are various audio profiles you can go with depending on your type of media So far, i’ve tried Gamer Pro when playing games on my PS5 & Adaptive mode for watching movies/sports. Both sound profiles are excellent and the crispiness of the audio has me scratching my head why i didn’t get this sooner. Surprisingly, bumping this thing near max volume yielded no clipping or distortion. The audio quality produced by the Q930C is crispy clear!
> Surround sound was indeed captivating… Watching movies which had Dolby Atmos was pretty awesome. My previous soundbars also had surround sound as well, but they sounded quite tiny and was not as immersive as the Q930C.
> Setup was quick easy and quick. I connected the soundbar via HDMI to my LG C3’s ARC input and then proceeded to connect the two satellite rear speakers and the subwoofer. Everything synced up pretty easily and i was up and running in ~5 mins. Since i’m using ARC, i can use my TV remote to control the volume :)
> Connectivity includes Bluetooth & Wi-Fi. Pairing via bluetooth took some patience and putting it into pairing mode requires a 5 second hold/press. Wi-Fi connectivity was simple to setup and worked like a charm as well :)
Cons:
> HDMI passthrough is 2.0. This means you’ll only get 4k 60Hz… Kind of wish this came with at least 2.1 for 4k 120Hz, especially for the price point.
> Bass can be a tad bit underwhelming when listening to music. Don’t get me wrong, there is bass however if you’re expecting it to thump, you may be let down quite a bit.
Overall, this is a very nice soundbar. Would I recommend it? Yes… Especially if you can get it on sale, I would highly recommend it!

Purchased the Q930C soundbar to pair up to our new 65” Neo QLED QN90C tv. Setup was extremely easy and intuitive. Several sound settings to select from and/adjust sound for preferences. Sound output and quality is very very good and fills our 17x25’ room. Excellent base from sub and small satellite speakers provide just the right amount of rear channel surround. And I picked it up from Best Buy on sale for under $1000. Bonus!!

The Samsung Q930C is a wireless 9.1.4 channel soundbar. This system is equipped with a front soundbar, 2 rear speakers, and a subwoofer. Boasting 540 watts of power, built-in voice assistant, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections, numerous modes of surround sound support, HDR10+ video support, and adaptive sound, this soundbar package has a lot to offer.
Setup
The setup is fairly easy. There are 4 speakers mentioned above as well as a remote, instructions, a short high-speed HDMI cable, and two speaker brackets. You start by plugging in the subwoofer, then the rear speakers, and finally the soundbar. They will connect to each other wirelessly.
To connect the soundbar to my TV, I used the HDMI cable through the HDMI Arc TV input. For wireless connection I used the Samsung SmartThings app to connect to Wi-Fi.
Sound Quality
The Q930C has pretty impressive sound quality. It’s much more immersive than just using the TV speakers. The soundbar speaker itself can produce quite a bit of sound and gets pretty loud. The upward firing speakers in both the soundbar and the rear speakers add extra dimension to the sound quality.
The subwoofer has a side firing speaker and the back of the box is ported. The resulting bass is a little weaker than I’d like. It does sound louder with music than most movies.
For comparison, I have an older Samsung soundbar package (N950), which is louder than this model. It has better overall sound, and the subwoofer provides more bass than the Q930C. I’d also like to mention that there is a higher-end model in the Samsung line-up offering an 11.1.4 speaker setup which may be worth comparing.
The Q930C does have some interesting features that should be mentioned. First, the Q-Symphony feature allows you to pair this soundbar package with a Samsung TV allowing the soundbar and TV speakers to act as one. Second, there’s a SpaceFit Sound Pro feature that helps you calibrate the system to help you get more sound out of your system. Last, there’s an Adaptive Sound feature which helps to optimize the audio to produce clear voices.
Connections
There are several ways to connect to the Q930C. You may choose from HDMI Arc, HDMI input, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi.
You can speak to it as well. It has a built-in voice assistant. Choose between Alexa and Bixby.
Last, there’s an additional feature that connects to your Samsung cell phone. You tap the soundbar with your phone and change the input to your phone. I played Spotify through the soundbar using this feature.
I am giving the Samsung Q930C 4 stars. It has an overall nice sound quality and lots of features. The audio and video support are mostly current. It does not support 8K video, and the bass is a little weaker than I’d like. These things aside, it’s a solid performer.

A++ Surround Sound that packs a punch

Out of the box, you can tell how much time and effort Samsung put into the Q-Series 9.1 Dolby Atmos Soundbar. Build quality is superb on the soundbar itself, as well as the sub and rear channel speakers.
Out of the box you get the soundbar, remote control, subwoofer, and two rear channel speakers (it does come with hardware to assist with wall mounting as well). Setup was easy and it took around 30 minutes or so to complete. Mileage may vary depending on how you plan on using the rear speakers.
Everything paired together seamlessly and right off the bat. I did setup through the Samsung SmartThings app, and that did not take long at all. The sound quality is amazing, especially on Dolby Atmos content. The sound fills the room and with the 9.1.4ch setup, you can hear sounds from directions they were meant to come from, which is cool as heck, and trippy at first. I was able to adjust the sub so I was not getting too much bass (which is what I prefer). I do not think you will have a hard time finding a setting there that you prefer.
This is an EXCELLENT surround sound that packs a punch, and is very easy to setup! The build quality is superb. You will not be disappointed!

I bought this system to replace a Denon receiver (2015 model) and a 5.1 speaker system in my living room. I didn't know what to expect as I tried a Sonos Arc prior and thought it did not even come close to producing the same sound my Denon receiver was producing. The Samsung Q930C however is on another level. 1 HDMI cable to connect to my TV using eARC and the sound it produces is even better than my Denon. The Bass is so deep and so loud. Speech is crystal clear. The surround back speakers are producing sounds I never heard before from the Denon system. The system is very loud even at 25% level (had to adjust audio settings in my TV to increase eARC sound level). Best of all, it is wireless so goodbye long cables running all over my living room. This is truly a 21st century sound system producing excellent clean very loud sound that will fill the biggest of rooms.
