Not going to give the full rap, but the short version is - no matter the settings or types of dish, it will either leave soap buildup or seemingly not touch it at all on 40% of the items.

By the time they repair it it will be full of mold I'm sure and they have none in stock

Your dishes will only get dry with rinse aid. Rinse aid decreases the surface tension of water, causing it to condense, drip, and evaporate more easily, which condensing dry technology requires to function effectively.
