    Purchased 22 months ago, and it died last night! I really loved the player up until yesterday. I am not sure if this is unique to Samsung, but I still use my Sony Blu-ray player for the past 9 years without issue. No online troubleshooting works

    This was the worst buy for last year 2018. It was my fault,I didn’t read that it was wired , but I gave it a shot bought the wire to connect it to the internet. It did not work. I called our internet but they couldn’t help now I’m stuck with a blu-Ray player I can’t us my apps on.

    WOW! Lasted just over a year!Then died!

    I have always trusted Samsung in the past but not anymore. This Blu-ray/DVD player lasted one year and 9 days then gave up. What ever happened to quality and integrity? Time to check out another brand. Goodbye Samsung!

    So glad I bought the warranty. Returned as the player would not even eject our DVD. Had less than 6 weeks. Would not recommend.

    Excellent player, couldn't ask for anything else

    Like many other people did this holiday season, we took advantage of various deals and upgraded our TV to a 4K model (the Samsung NU7100 model, if you were curious). Along with a 4k display, we wanted the ability to run 4k content on it, so we wanted a 4k-capable player. After a bit of research, we settled on this one. I have now used this player to watch several 4k discs (the reboot Star Trek movies, the 5th Element, and Crazy Rich Asians), and I am now confident in saying the following: -picture quality is excellent -startup time is minimal -controls are good The setup was also a breeze. The only thing that gave me pause was the screen during the setup process that wanted an internet connection. I have zero intention of giving any device in my home access to the internet except for my computer and my Roku, and the screen doesn't have a "NO" button on it. However, if you just press "right" on the directional pad, it will ask you if you want to skip setting up the internet, and you can move on. So, while it isn't obvious how to refuse to connect it to the internet, it is possible (btw same problem with the TV as well, and same solution). These days we watch most of our content through streaming. So many of the complaints I have seen about the player just don't apply to me. I don't really care if it remembers to resume where I was on a disc, because I will only ever watch a movie I WANT to watch on the player. Streaming is for casual viewing. If I go to the time and expense to buy a 4k disc, it is because I like the movie so much, I want to sit down and WATCH it with my undivided attention, from start to finish. So I don't intend to pause it and resume it later, and I don't intend to stop it and resume it later. So screen saver modes, and resume modes don't interest me. And since I refuse to connect it to the internet, all of the internet related problems don't apply to me either. As a 4k disc player, it works flawlessly, and I am happy with it. 5 stars :)

    Do not buy if you plan on putting it somewhere that is not in A.c.. The tray does not open if it gets hot

    If you have a 4K set, you HAVE to get a 4k UHD blu ray player to see it to its full potential. Wow. Pretty spectacular. I got a free copy of Blue Planet II with this as a promotion (making this deck the bargain of the century) and it is just amazing. Ditto for other 4K discs I have tried. Simple setup, especially if you don't have wired internet and cannot access any smart functions. (No wi-fi at this bargain price) I don't cause I dont need them. TV has it all built in. Loads discs fast. Nice full size deck. Heavy enough so it stays put when inserting discs.. No power brick. My last blu-ray player was so small and light it was more like a toy. No external display except for a power light. The norm these days. Only a couple of small beefs. It IS the noisiest blu ray player I have ever heard. You can hear it winding up across the room when you first turn it on, But not an issue once the movie begins. It also has no auto bookmark function, which allows you to stop and restart a disc later where you left it off. An Odd omission but you can just skip forward to find where you were. If you can find in on sale, this is a great bargain. Performs well and seems sturdier than a lot of modern blu-ray players.

    Ive had this player for a couple weeks now. Picture looks great, sound is just as good coming threw my system. Loads fast, idk what people are talking about when they say its loud, i dont hear it being loud. The reason im giving it 4 stars and not 5 is cause of lack of auto bookmarking. Honestly, spend the extra money to get the m8500. If you watching a movie or a tv series disc, if you shut it off, it doesnt resume, you have to scan threw and remember where you were to continue watching. Ive seen a email to samsung about adding this, honestly for 200, its a no brainer, no idea why it wouldnt have it.
