    13 months had fatal fault. Samsung fix failed

    The unit lasted 13 months and had a fatal fault. According to Samsung when there is a red light and all the controls do not work you are to unplug for 30 minutes and plug it in to reset the fault. Attempted 3 times with no sucess. The fix did not work. This unit is still available at Best Buy. Buyer beware.

    This is my second purchase of this item, they last about a year and then they die I received a second one and it has died as well not a good purchase.

    Not even a month old and stopped working. Not blaming Best Buy. I will take it in for repair or replacement

    This has been the best 4k player ever! I have never had any problems with it. I like it's sleek design and the fact that my samsung tv remote can control it.

    We have had this for 9 months and it no longer works. Failed to get extended warranty since they don’t normally go out this quickly. So aggravated right now!

    Did not work properly at all. remote did not work, could not get a picture on the screen. 1st time to purchase a samsung dvd player. bought a SONY for the same price.

    Spent 400 buck. Says on the box all the apps it has but apps don’t work . Samsung please do not advertise things that don’t work

    I had this player for a little more than one year it’s it’s quality is very cheap DVD player the tray where you put the DVD in malfunctions I do not recommend this product will never buy again

    Bought this Samsung unit because always happy with Brand. BestBuy repackaged used product that needs to be serviced. So it could be resold versus being corrected.

    The screen goes black all the time, I have done many resets and have sent it in two times to the repair center.

    This vibrates extremely loud when playing 4K movies. Works just fine for Blu-Ray. Do not purchase if you want to watch 4K

    Very good Samsung product. When watching 4K Blu-ray's, the picture does skip a little from time-to-time. Not sure if the processor is a little under powered, a little low on the internal memory, or if the device could simply use a quick firmware patch. Either way, it's not overly noticeable but definitely there. When playing standard Blu-ray discs, however, there is no skipping and is where this player excels, in my opinion. 4K up-scaling is tremendous, and disc load speeds remind me of the super fast DVD player days (finally!). My last 7th-gen Samsung Blu-ray player took around 15-20 seconds minimum to load my movies to the main menu; the M8500 does it in around 5 seconds or less (4K Blu-rays load to main menu in around 7 seconds). 4K picture, while awesome, isn't going to have the "wow" factor many people saw when upgrading from DVD to Blu-ray. I can definitely see a color control difference when turning on HDR, but the overall quality isn't a massive jump from standard Blu-ray, even on my 65" Samsung MU8000 4K/HDR QLED panel. Just throwing this out there to curb expectations a little. Marked down to 4 stars due to the skipping, and potential hardware short comings, on 4K HDR Blu-rays (would only take half a star if I could). Regular Blu-rays still work really well so most of my movie purchases are standard Blu-ray, at least until 4K Blu-ray prices start coming down a little more.

    Less than 2 weeks old and it stops working. Won't accept any disks and the disk drive won't close.

    I think if you're going to put an open box item back on the Shelf maybe you should test it first because this one doesn't play 4K DVDs.
