    This player is so easy to hook up and set up especially if connected to a Samsung HD TV. The up-scaling to 2160p is beautiful, even with old DVD discs. Highly recommend this player.......

    There is a long standing issue with the remote for this player. Please check the Samsung user forums. The remote seems to continuously transmit codes that causes the player to get confused and stop playing the video or displays "Function not available" (not verbatim - something to that effect) when any of the buttons on the remote is pressed. Disconnecting the batteries in the remote allows you to continue playing the video but at the cost of not having any of the advance features that the remote facilitates.

    Fan Problem

    I just received this product, plugged it in, and repeatedly got the same error when I powered it on. Fan is not working, contact Samsung. I called Samsung and explained and was told to return it to BestBuy. They can't send a replacement unless it's completely non-functional. Like an idiot, I'm going to order a replacement since I have 5 other Samsung products, but was completely underwhelmed with my initial experience as well as Samsung overseas customer support.

    Horrible - No Amazon Video in HD

    This player is NOT compatible with Amazon Video in HD. Although it works fine for Netflix, the resolution when watching Amazon Video is terrible -- even worse than that of the old standard definition TV. Don't buy this if you want to watch Amazon Video.

    Shockingly....BAD.

    I received this product as a gift for Christmas 2018 (Yes- today). After opening the player I found install simple and painless, and naturally I tested my first movie. I found the picture quality to be exceptional, but I also immediately noticed the "loundess" MANY other reviewers noted. Halfway through our first movie the player began to skip and then literally quit working and froze. ZERO of the typical IT "turn it off/turn it on" remedies worked, and the power LED light flashed alternating between red and green lights. Nothing we did ever resulted in the player functioning again and internet research revealed that this is EXTREMELY common. In the last two years I've had issues with a Samsung washer, sound bar, and now this blu-ray. While I have been a fierce advocate for Samsung of the years, I'm learning the hardway that their products seriously are garbage. Led the buyer beware- You've been warmed.

    Nothing good about this

    Hooked this up to my Samsung 4k UHD TV using high speed HDMI cable as suggested. After I finally got the tray to open, I loaded my DVD and hit play. The quality was terrible! Blurry and small picture. I thought maybe I had to change a setting or something so I called Samsung support. I was told that since my DVD I tried to play was from 2006 it would not work in this DVD player?? Not what I read with upscale capabilities. So I proceeded to go to their online support where I waited forever to get connected to an agent. After performing all the tests it was determined that the player was broke. I could have told him that from the start. I was never able to get the tray back open and get my disc out. Alot of time wasted on this thing. I know have to send to Samsung for service. Talk about an inconvenience! I have lost all faith in Samsung and their support team is worthless. I want to return this and get my money back so I could buy a player that actually works by a brand that supports the customer. All around terrible product.

    Compatibility problem?

    Two years ago i decided to update my entertainment system. So I went to Best Buy, where I bought a Sony 4K TV, a Yamaha 4k receiver and a Samsung 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray Player, at the Best Buy Magnolia salesman's recommendation. Geek Squad installed everything. I noticed after a while that the receiver was showing only PCM when I used the player, despite whatever audio auction I selected from the movie. Initially I was told that there it didn't matter. PCM was pure and the Yamaha was doing all the work. But I became dissatisfied with the audio quality from 4K video. So I checked with both Yamaha and Samsung. Samsung said the Yamaha was incompatible. Yamaha said to buy a different Blu-ray player. Best Buy said I should have spoken up within 90 days, however I did have a Geek guy out to calibrate the TV and he said PCM didn't matter. But of course it does. So thanks to everyone for NOT taking any responsibility.

    Only lasted two months without using it

    No power today. Replaced batteries in the remote, but nothing. . And we haven't even used it except to see if it worked when we hooked it up to our new Samsung tv. Geek Squad unplugged it and told us to return it to Best Buy. Problem is that it is covered by the manufacturers warranty and not Best Buy. We can't return and replace at Best Buy. We now have to deal with Samsung. I will never do that again. Who knows when it will be replaced while our warranty runs out on a machine that doesn't work the whole point in buying Samsung was the reliability of the product. You can't take it to the bank.

    technology problems

    This player worked fine until off warranty. Now the screen goes black for 2-3 seconds while streaming. It skips and locks up on 4K movie discs. ...even brand new ones. Called Samsung and they had me do a reset to factory...did not solve anything. Then told me I would have to send it in to be checked by them to see if it is faulty and then I would have to pay for the repairs. I have done nothing to this player. Regular DVDs and BluRays work fine, it just does not work with 4K discs...the reason I bought it in the first place. So, I had to buy a new Sony 4K player and it works fine. Shame on Samsung.

    Very Poor Product

    Purchased this 4K Blu ray player during the Black Friday sale at half price. Though this initially looked like a great deal when I hooked this device up and followed all the instructions for Firmware Updates I soon found it was not a good deal. The 4k Blu Ray disc I tried to watch would stop every 3 or 4 minutes for about 20 seconds and a banner would appear at the top of the screen. There was no meaningful message displayed but since reading earlier reviews this appears to be a problem with this player. Returned to BB for a refund. Very disappointed in what should be a quality product.

    do not buy

    ive owned this player for over 6 months and have had an issue with flashing on the screen whenever i play any disc. i know its not the discs as most are brand new and work just fine on another player. i sent it in to samsung for service as they recommended because it was under factory warranty. they told me they couldnt replicate the issue i was having so they didnt repair it and wouldnt replace it. 4k players are expensive, and now im stuck with this player that cant even perform its primary function (playing movies) properly. thank you samsung.

    Doesn't work for BluRay, has problems with 4k

    I purchased this player back in 2017 when I first got a 4K TV and it worked fine for a bit before developing a problem playing anything that wasn't 4K. I couldn't get through the first 15 minutes of a BluRay without it glitching. Now starting to have the same problem with 4K movies, both with discs that have played perfectly fine in the player and ones that were brand new. Tried watching a movie yesterday and had to stop three times because the voices were out of sync with the audio.
